This paper presents a fuzzy learning rule which is the fuzzified version of LVQ(Learning Vector Quantization). This fuzzy learning rule 3 uses fuzzy learning rates. instead of the traditional learning rates. LVQ uses the same learning rate regardless of correctness of classification. But, the new fuzzy learning rule uses the different learning rates depending on whether classification is correct or not. The new fuzzy learning rule is integrated into the improved IAFC(Integrated Adaptive Fuzzy Clustering) neural network. The improved IAFC neural network is both stable and plastic. The iris data set is used to compare the performance of the supervised IAFC neural network 3 with the performance of backprogation neural network. The results show that the supervised IAFC neural network 3 is better than backpropagation neural network.

Other than in the fields of rolling stock and marine, in England, UK, Phenolic Composites (herein after, PCs) have been significantly utilized to fire protecting panels in construction, in particular, in architectures. In general, indeed, so-called "Plastic" or "Synthesized Resins" have been applied successfully in our societies all over the world, however, once, when ignited from somewhat reason, they burn much easily generating large amount of "SMOKE" from their nature of petroleum-borne materials as a matter of fact, people have forgotten about it. "SMOKE" caused many fire accidents horror tragedies as everyday people know today. The experts in this field such as PC engineers, researchers and others can take their responsibilities to explain it, persuade it and realize "Safer Environment for People" with well-experienced and technology innovated PCs. In this paper, the co-authors, collaborating UK and Japan, are making efforts to report how the PCs work good jobs to our societies showing some successful track records in construction or architecture fields in UK. How about on this matter in Japan\ulcorner "SMOKE fire" is always waiting fur us. We should stop smoking and SMOKE fire, in our public places. We should stop smoking and SMOKE fire, in our public places.

In this study, the composition and physico-chemical characteristics of municipal solid waste (MWS) which was treated in four different area were investigated. It is necessary to measure the characteristics of MSW to build a waste treatment and Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) facility, the data-base and total managing of the landfill. It was found that the average density of solid wastes is in the range of $78.15-199.8kg/m^3$. This MSW was composed of 8.87% of food wastes, 38.8% of papers, 34.12% of plastics & vinyls, 7.16% of textiles, 0.96% of wood, 1.3% of rubber & leathers and others, respectively. Most of MSW are composed of food, paper and plastic waste and more than 94% was combustible waste. For three components, moisture is 17.38%, combustible component is 69.03% and ash is 6.24%. The chemical element has the high order of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen on the dry basis of wastes. And the low heating value of the MSW which is measured by calorimeter is calculated as 2973.8 kcal/kg and high heating value of the MSW is calculated as 5209.94 kcal/kg.

Pultruded fiber reinforced polymeric plastic (PFRP) structural members may be one of attractive alternatives of the structural members in the civil engineering applications because of its many advantageous mechanical properties. However, they have relatively low modulus of elasticity and also cross-sections of structural shapes are composed of thin plate components such as flange and web. Therefore, structural stability is an important issue in the design of pultruded structural compression members. For the design of pultruded structural member under compression, buckling and post-buckling strengths of plate components may be taken into account. In the structural steel design following AISC/LRFD, in addition to the buckling strength, the nonuniform stress distribution in the section is incorporated with a form factor. In this paper, the form factor for the design of PFRP structural member under compression is investigated through the analytical study. Furthermore, the process for the determination of the form factor is suggested.

Recently, the use of buried glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) pipes is widespread and ever increasing trend in the industry. GRP pipes are attractive for use in harsh environments, such as for the collection and transmission of liquids which are abrasive and/or corrosive. The structural behavior of a GRP pipes buried under the ground is different from that of a rigid one made of concrete or clay, for example. A GRP pipe buried under the ground is deflected circumferentially by several percent and the stresses in the pipe are mainly compressive stresses. A GRP pipes has been introduced by a number of manufacturers for selection and used by underground pipeline designers. In all cases, the modified Spangler's equation is recommended by these manufacturers for predicting the ring deflection of these pipes under dead and live loads. In this paper, the ring deflection of buried GRP pipe is evaluated and discussed based on the result of analytical investigation.

The aim of this paper is to design the blank shape of SPFH 590 high strength steel for stamping of the center hinge of automotive via numerical analyses and experiments for multi-stages transfer forming process. Three-dimensional elasto-plastic finite element analyses for the transfer forming process with six stages were performed using a commercial code AUTOFORM V4.2. The influence of the blank shape on the formability and the shape conformity were quantitatively examined through the FE analyses. From the results of the FE analysis, a feasible shape of the blank and the forming load were estimated. Stamping experiments were carried out using the proposed blank shape. The results of experiments were shown that the center hinge parts with the desired shapes can be manufactured successfully as the proposed blank shape is used. Through the comparison of the results of the experiments with those of the analyses, it was shown that the estimation of blank shape using the FE analysis is a proper methodology to create a feasible shape of the blank for the center hinge of automotive.

Once-through helically coiled steam generator tubes subjected to external pressure are of interest because of their application to advanced small- and medium-sized integral reactors, in which a primary coolant with a relatively higher pressure flows outside the tubes, while secondary water with a relatively lower pressure flows inside the tubes. Another notable point is that the values of the mean radius to thickness ratio of these steam generator tubes are very small, which means that a thick-walled cylinder is employed for these steam generator tubes. In the present paper, the maximum allowable pressure of helically coiled and thick-walled steam generator tubes with through-wall cracks under external pressure is investigated based on a detailed nonlinear three-dimensional finite element analysis. In terms of the crack orientation, either circumferential or axial through-wall cracks are considered. In particular, in order to quantify the effect of the crack location on the maximum external pressure, these cracks are assumed to be located in the intrados, extrados, and flank of helically coiled cylinders. Moreover, an evaluation is also made of how the maximum external pressure is affected by the ovality, which might be inherently induced during the tube coiling process used to fabricate the helically coiled steam generator tubes.
This study is a result of experiment to recognize geometric and spacial conceptions for early childhood. This researcher had built up Mandala figures which was an intermediary between consciousness and unconsciousness, and then have studied about early childhood's geometric and spatial concepts by using Mandala figures. In this paper, authors have studied fractal art activities of early childhood as a follow-up study, since the structure of fractal art is similar to Mandala. As a result, three years old young children have significant correlation in four areas(figure perception, visual discrimination, position-in space perception and visual memory), but five years old young children have significant in three areas(figure perception, position-in space perception and visual memory). For five years old group, there is some difference between boys and girls, also they had described for their art activities like real models.

This paper is concerned with design, manufacturing and performance test of LIPCA ( Lightweight Piezo- composite Curved Actuator) using a top carbon fiber composite layer with near -zero CTE(coefficient of thermal expansion), a middle PZT ceramic wafer and a bottom glass/epoxy layer with high CTE. The main point of this design is to replace the heavy metal layers of THUNDER by thigh tweight fiber reinforced plastic layers without losing capabilities to generate high force and large displacement. It is possible to save weight up to about 30% if we replace the metallic backing material by the light fiber composite layer. We can also have design flexibility by selecting the fiber direction and the size of prepreg layers. In addition to the lightweight advantage and design flexibility, the proposed device can be manufactured without adhesive layers when we use epoxy resin prepreg system. Glass/epoxy prepregs, a ceramic wafer with electrode surfaces, and a graphite/epoxy prepreg were simply stacked and cured at an elevated temperature (177 $^{circ}C$ after following an autoclave bagging process. It was found that the manufactured composite laminate device had a sufficient curvature after detached from a flat mold. The analysis method of the cure curvature of LIPCA using the classical lamination theory is presented. The predicted curvatures are fairly in agreement with the experimental ones. In order to investigate the merits of LIPCA, a performance test of both LIPCA and THUNDE$^{TM}$ were conducted under the same boundary conditions. From the experimental actuation tests, it was observed that the developed actuator could generate larger actuation displacement than THUNDERT$^{TM}$.

The high speed in the wire-drawing process to meet the demands for the increased productivity has a great effect on the heat generated due to plastic deformation and friction between the wire and the drawing dies. During the high carbon steel wire drawing process, the temperature rise gives a great influence to the fracture of wire. In this paper, to control the temperature rise in the wire after the deformation through the drawing die, the calculation method of the wire temperature, which includes the temperature rise in the deformation zone as well as the temperature drop in the block considering the heat transfer among the wire, cooling water and surrounding air, is proposed. These calculated results of the wire temperature at the inlet and exit of the drawing die at each pass are compared with the measured wire temperatures and verified its efficiency. So, using the program to predict the wire temperature, the isothermal pass schedule program was developed. By applying this isothermal pass schedule program to the conventional process condition, a new isothermal pass schedule is redesigned through all passes. As a result, the possibility of wire fracture could be considerably reduced and the productivity of final product could be more increased than before.
