  • This paper aims to find out the R&D personnel management strategies which enhance the productivity of researchers. The R&D personnel management practices are examined focusing on career development and compensation scheme. As proxies for higher motivation and/or productivity, job satisfaction and propensity to leave of researchers are analyzed to evaluate the management practices. Using the survey data from researchers in the Korean automobile industry. this paper suggests the management strategies to raise job satisfaction and thus lower propensity to leave of R&D personnel.

  • Knowledge management (KM) continues to receive mounting interest within the construction industry due to its potential to offer solutions for organisations seeking competitive advantage. This paper presents a KM input-process-output conceptual model comprising unique and well-defined theoretical constructs representing KM practices and their internal and external determinants in the context of construction. The paper also presents the underlying principles used in operationally defining each construct using extant KM literature, and offers a number of testable hypotheses that capture the inter-relationships between the identified constructs.

  • This paper examines the social development process of technological innovation for national emergency management. There are relatively few studies on how technological innovations are developed and deployed within social context. This paper investigates innovation processes within social contexts and the role of innovation actors such as citizens, government, and private sector. The the Real-time Disaster Management System (RDMS) is an innovation for citizens to transmit digital images and video clips on disaster toward professional organizations to respond to disasters. This case shows how an innovation in disaster management was developed by social interactions, how open innovation mechanism was deployed, and how end-users involved in innovation processes for disaster management. Finally this paper suggests implications to accelerate innovations for social welfare and social change.

  • The SM(System Management) is more important than SI(System Integration) in business model of software industry. And the role of ITO(IT Outsourcing) is increasing, recently. Also, The interest of ITIL increasing in the software industry. In the perspective of business, IT organization has been transformed from supportive division the core business organization, IT organization needs the satisfaction of customer’s requirements. So, process oriented IT management is required. In the perspective of technique, according to need of IT infra for a rapid change management, an application management, systematic development and operating process are required. Therefore, this paper analyzes of IT service core process in service support and service delivery that was offered by ITIL using the AHP methodology This paper shows the results of IT service survey in domestic software industry. And this paper gives a guideline of introduction ITIL

  • This paper investigated the efficiency of automobile firms by using several non-parametric approaches. First, using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), the paper has investigated the critical factors that determine the relative efficiency of management performance in automobile companies. Second, we examined how the firm size impact on the difference of this efficiency by using Kruskl-Wallis Test. Third, by using Mann-whitney test, we also investigated the difference of the efficiency accoss existence of technological innovation activity. Finally, the paper explored the relationship between technological innovation and management efficiency by using logistic regression model. The findings of this study provided practical information for inefficient automobile firms to find benchmarking firms and strategic position to improve their efficiency. The result also provided theoretical and methodological implications for those who explore factors affecting management efficiencies. Future research directions with the limitation of the study are discussed.

  • Traditional project management theory is based on a three-dimensional life cycle approach where the project managerseeks to optimize the dimensions of cost-schedule-technical (quality or design). This paper reports the findings of a case study analysis of two complex mega-projects in Michigan which confirm the findings of previous research and illustrates the use of a framework for five-dimensional project management (5DPM) that is for conceptualizing a complex project's scope of work. The framework elevates the recognition that the project's social/political context and the financial arrangements create complexity adding two new dimensions. This paper also demonstrates a methodology to graphically display a project's complexity to better understand and prioritize the available resources. The result is a "complexity footprint" that may help a complex project manager identify the boundary between controllable and uncontrollable projects impacts. The paper finds that applying 5DPM to the two case study projects has given the project delivery team a tool which is actually adding value to the complex project management process.

  • This is an extended paper, focusing on the cost management for the organizations dealing with the crucial issues of security systems. Information Technology (IT) is an important and irreplaceable need of society and all working sector's success depends on IT to a greater extent; therefore maintaining security features is one of the most important aspects of IT. When security in the IT sector is discussed, Patch Management (P.Mgnt) has to be taken under account. P. Mgnt includes many concerns and areas to be described for IT security such as methods and problems in updating patch, methods of reducing security risks with P.Mgnt, methods of achieving economies of scale by controlling the operational costs and taking decisions in investing as and when necessary. This paper presents a general definition of Patch management, its benefits and management of working cost through theoretical models, also the paper gives methods of feeding techniques for microstrip patch antenna MPA, showing the contracting and non contracting methods.

  • Government-sponsored Research Institutes(GRIs) have made a great contribution to the development of Korea's Science and Technology(S&T). However, recently GRIs are facing the challenge of many problems. For instance, absence of reasonable strategies, insufficient resources and so on. Therefore, many GRIs are being asked for solving their problems with successful strategic management. This paper suggests a strategic management model to solve their problems and to cope with the changing S&T environment. In this paper, The strategic management model for GRIs which was thoroughly considered strategic management process suggested to response the need of their change and to perform their strategic management successfully. As a case of GRIs to apply this model, in this paper, Korea Basic Science Institute(KBSI) that is part of the Korea Research Council of Fundamental Science and Technology(KRCF) was analyzed. As a result of analysis with this model which applied to KBSI, various strategies and alternatives were suggested.
