A Study on Direct Injection Stratified Charge Combustion with Spark Ignition in Constant Volume Bomb (정적 용기내의 직접분사식 스파크 점화 성층 연소에 관한 연구)

  • The direct-injection stratified-charge engine has the advantages of higher thermal efficiency and less CO and $NO_x$ emission levels than conventional spark ignition engines. However, its actual utilization is prevented by high unburned hydrocarbon emission levels during light-load operations. In this paper, fundamental studies were carried out using a pancake type constant volume bomb. The effects of intensification of local premixing by tangential and radial fuel injection were examined experimentally. Unburned hydrocarbon emission levels with radial fuel injection were shown to be lower than those of tangential fuel injection cases. The stratification and mixing process of fuel jet and combustion process were observed by schlieren photography.

  • Before Jin (秦) period, Oriental (Eastern) culture was established in Korea different from China. Bulgogi (babecued beef, 貊炙) and legume fermented soy were transmitted into China. Afterward, alcohol drink, rice cake and cookie, shic-hae (lactic acid fermented fish products), Kimchi (fermented vegetable) were introduced and modified for Korea. Buddhism was transmitted to Korea through China, but selective animal was used as food. Later period of Koryo Dynasty, meat-eating become common due to mongorian influence and distilled spirits was introduced by mongorian. During Chosun Dynasty, table setting of spoon and chopstick was established, due to Confucian influence, dog eating, raw fish and raw meat eating became popular and nutrition for elderly was developed, whereas tea culture declined. In recent period (under the Japanese rule) Chinese introduced chinese noodle, chinese cuisine, chinese pancake and sun-dried salt. many chinese cultivated chinese vegetables.

  • Characteristics of a heater-triggered switch has been analyzed through the simulations and experiments. It was for the charging of Bi-2223 double pancake load with 1.7 mH and two heaters were used. The timing of the sequential control and the heating current with two heaters are important factors to generate pumping-current. The thermal analysis of the switch considering the heater input and time was carried out. Based on the analysis just mentioned. heater-triggered switch was fabricated. Characteristic analysis was carried out through two modes having different sequential timing controls. Maximum pumping-current reached 18 A and the pumping rate was 113 mA/s at that time.

  • High-Tc superconducting(HT S) systems are commercialized by many study on high-Tc superconductor. For the successful commercialization of superconducting systems using Bi-2223 wires, the database on the degradation of critical current is essentially needed. In this paper, critical current variation of Bi-2223 wires according to the transport time was investigated. The degradation rate of critical current was also calculated. Solenoid type specimens have the length of 190cm Bi-2223 wire and double-pancake type specimens have the length of l0m wire were tested. Tested Bi-2223 wires are commercialized products of AMSC (American Superconductor) and Innost. When the transportation current was 95% of critical current, the degradation of critical current was appeared after 5 hours of transport time.

  • In this paper, 3-D electromagnetic analysis of a single phase 1MVA 22.9kV/6.6kV High Temperature Superconducting(HTS) transformer with double pancake windings by using the OPERA 3D was accomplished. And in order to perform the analysis of leakage impedances of a 1MVA HTS transformer, the energy conservation method was used. The efficiency voltage regulation and % impedance voltage drop of a 1MVA HTS transformer were obtained by the analysis of leakage impedances.

  • The superconducting Homopolar motor is manufactured and tested. Homopolar motor system is simple and solid as the field coil of the motor is fixed near the stator coil without rotating system. In this paper, a 5 kW fully superconducting homopolar motor which has high temperature superconducting armature and field coils is manufactured and tested in liquid nitrogen. The critical current test results of the used 2G superconducting wire, pancake coil for rotor winding and race-track coils for armature winding are reported. Also, the test result of rotating and operating performance is presented. The operating frequency is to be 5 Hz for low-speed rotating. The developed fully superconducting Homopolar motor is the world's first.

  • We have developed shell type 765kV transformers for generator step-up. Our research and development for shell type 765kV transformers have been continued since 1990. The shell type 765kV transformers of single phase 3MVA for step-up and 500MVA for power transmission were developed in Dec. 1992 and Oct. 1996, respectively. 204MVA 765kV transformer for generator step-up was also developed with the basis of technique and experience to the present. Total 12 phases of 204MVA 765kV transformers will be delivered at Tangjin thermal power plant by 2006. This paper describes electrical and structural features of the shell type 204MVA 765kV transformer.

  • This paper deals with the fabrication and characteristic experiment of a high-Tc superconducting (HTSC) power supply using by Hi-2223 tape. The purpose of this research is to apply real HTSC load. This system consists of two heaters, an electromagnet, a Bi-2223 solenoid and a Bi-2223 pancake load. In the experiment, 17sec and 8.5sec were used for pumping period. Mechanism of the superconducting switch is used for heater-trigger. In experiment, the pumping-current has reached about 1.2A.

  • Magnetization loss which is generated in HTS wire varies with the direction of the external magnetic field. This paper calculates the magnetization loss in an HTS transformer winding, where effects of the direction of magnetic field are considered. Kim model is used to consider the variation of the critical current with magnetic field and Brandt equation is used to calculate the loss by perpendicular magnetic field in transformer winding. Magnetization loss in an HTS transformer can be calculated more precisely with this paper.

  • For the development of superconducting power apparatus, it is necessary to establish the dielectric technology in coolant like L$N_2$. Therefore in this paper we conducted experiment of surface flashover that could occur in the windings of HTS transformer which will be developed in the pancake coil type. First, we distinguished two types of surface flashover by electrode alignment, such as parallel and vertical, and then compared with each characteristics of surface flashover. The flashover voltage was more affected by thickness of spacer than by surface length when the thickness of spacer is over 1 mm. And the surface flashover with metallic particle attached on the spacer was tested, it was affected by the particle position. The more close to the electrodes, the worse the characteristics. Also the experiment was conducted when the electrode was immersed in liquid nitrogen(L$N_2$) partially. The surface flashover characteristics of spacer was, when immersed partially in 50%, rapidly decreased.
