  • Recent network environment has been rapidly evolved to cloud computing environment based on the development of the Internet technologies. Furthermore there is an increasing demand on mobile cloud computing due to explosive growth of smart devices and wide deployment of LTE-based cellular networks. Thus mobile Desktop-as-a-Service(DaaS) could be a pervasive service for nomadic users. In addition, video streaming traffic is currently more than two-thirds of mobile traffic and ever increasing. All such trends enable that video streaming in mobile DaaS could be an important concern for mobile cloud computing. It should be noted that the performance of the Transmission Control Protocol(TCP) on cloud host servers greatly affects Quality of Service(QoS) of video streams for mobile users. With widely deployed Linux server platforms for cloud computing, in this paper, we conduct an experimental analysis of the twelve Linux TCP variants in mobile DaaS environments. The results of our experiments show that the TCP Illinois outperforms the other TCP variants in terms of wide range of packet loss rate and propagation delay over LTE-based wireless links between cloud servers and mobile devices, even though TCP CUBIC is usually used in default in the current Linux systems.

  • In this paper, we propose an energy efficient sink node based MAC protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The proposed sink node-based MAC (SB-MAC) protocol uses a RB(rapid beacon) frame to save sender's energy consumption and to reduce transmission delay. The RB frame is a modified IEEE 802.15.4 beacon frame. The RB frame contains the length of the sender nodes data. Using this information other nodes except sender and receiver nodes can be stay sleep mode long time to reduce energy consumption. Results have shown that the SB-MAC protocol outperformed other protocols like X-MAC and RI-MAC in terms of packet delivery delay and energy consumption. The SB-MAC protocol is especially energy efficient for the networks with one sink node and many senders.

  • In mobile ad-hoc networks, it should be the most important issue to reduce the power consumption of communications, because the resource of a node is limited in these networks. In existing cluster-based routing protocols, cluster headers participate in almost all communication processes. Therefore the lifetime of the cluster header is shortened and it does not have the effective route. In the proposed cluster-based routing protocol, the cluster header transmits a control packet which gives the route information to member nodes. This makes that the cluster header decreases the number of participating in communications, and that node members do not have to communicate trough the cluster header. This results in extending the lifetime of the cluster header, and having the effective route, data transmission rate and improved stability of routes.

  • Recently, wireless mesh network has been focused as a core technology for resolving the issues of shadow zone and distributed bypass route as it has broad service coverage as well as good scalability features. It, however, provides users with relatively lower QoS than infrastructure-based networks. In order for addressing this QoS issue and also enhancing the routing performance of mobile WiMax mesh network, this paper proposes a load sensing QoS routing (LSQR) scheme. In the proposed LSQR, each node figures out network congestion status and selects a bypass route accordingly. With this scheme, we can expect good load balancing effect by changing the routing paths from centralized links to distributed links under a heavy traffic condition. From the simulation results using NS-2, it has been verified that the LSQR shows lower packet loss rates and data transmission delays than the existing representative routing schemes.

  • The aim of this study is to present the handover procedures and the performance comparisons of layered mobility management schemes for wireless mobile Internet. To investigate efficient mobility management schemes providing seamless information services in a mobile environment, this paper provided the detailed discussions of existing network layered mobility management scheme, including Mobile IPv4, Mobile IPv6, and new transport layer mobility management scheme, stream control transmission protocol (SCTP) based mobility architecture (SMA). Network simulator-2 (ns-2) was used to compare the performance between Mobile IPv6 and SMA in the wireless mobile Internet environment. Simulation results show that for typical network configuration and parameters, SMA has a lower handover latency, lower packet loss rate, and higher throughput than Mobile IPv6.

  • 6LoWPAN (IPv6 over Low Power Wireless Sensor Network) standardized by IETF does not support the mobility of wireless sensor nodes. Since the wireless sensor node, subject to a lot of constraints in the CPU, memory, a battery is not easy to apply to existing protocols such as Mobile IPv6. In this paper, we propose a novel mobility management architecture and methods to work with 6LoWPAN based on the analysis on FPMIPv6 (Fast PMIPv6) the host is not a handover procedure performed in order to support the mobility of such sensor nodes. It was suggested the use of a dispatch code pattern that is not currently used in 6LoWPAN for inter-working, MAG and MAC, MAC in order to reduce packet loss caused as the authentication delay in the handover process to minimize the power consumption of a sensor node that is caused by the re-transmission the new concept of temporary guarantee (temporary guarantee) and trust relationships (trust relationship) between AAA and introduced.

  • Wireless signal transmission is influenced by environmental effects. These effects have also been challenging for Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) in real-time communication. More specifically, in an urban environment, with high mobility among vehicles, a vehicle's status from the transmitter can instantly trigger from line of sight to non-line of sight, which may cause loss of real-time communication. In order to overcome this, a deterministic signal propagation model is required, which has less complexity and more feasibility of implementation. Hence, we propose a realistic path loss model which adopts ray tracing technique for VANET in a grid urban environment with less computational complexity. To evaluate the model, it is applied to a vehicular simulation scenario. The results obtained are compared with different path loss models in the same scenario based on path loss value and application layer performance analysis. The proposed path loss model provides higher loss value in dB compared to other models. Nevertheless, the performance of vehicle-vehicle communication, which is evaluated by the packet delivery ratio with different vehicle transmitter density verifies improvement in real-time vehicle-vehicle communication. In conclusion, we present a realistic path loss model that improves vehicle-vehicle wireless real-time communication in the grid urban environment.

  • It is widely accepted that the coverage with high user densities in mobile multimedia environments can only be achieved with small cell such as micro- and pico-cell. The smaller cell size causes frequent handovers between cells and a decrease in the permissible handover processing delay. This may result in the handover failure, in addition to the loss of some packets during the handover. In these cases, re-transmission is needed in order to compensate errors, which triggers a rapid degradation of throughput. In this paper, we propose a new handover scheme in the next generation mobile communication systems, in which the handover setup process is done in advance before a handover request by predicting the handover cell based on mobile terminal's current position and moving direction. Simulation is focused on the handover failure rate and packet loss rate. The simulation results show that our proposed method provides a better performance than the conventional method.

  • In this paper, the goal of our proposed algorithm is to reduce link -failure and route failure caused by dead nodes which consume all of the battery life. I propose an algorithm which provides a ability of changing mutes to neighbor nodes before some of intermediate nodes be shutting don to get the stable route maintenance. To achieve this goal, The proposed routing algerian uses additional new messages to check energy status for monitoring energy of neighbor nodes and to change the path to a neighbor node. From extensive simulations, results show that possibility of cut-offs and time-delay cause of packet-loss have been decreased and also the improvement of transmission effectiveness.

This paper refers problem of existing Reliable Multicast Protocols and redesigns component function, and proposes enhanced reliable multicast transport protocol, This paper proposed a improved multicast transport scheme in NACK based reliable multicast. This scheme is much faster than by sender-initiated or receiver-initiated recovery and latency is smaller. Designed components are implemented in UNIX environment using C programming longuage. Then the protocol was evaluated performance through simulation. As the result, proposed protocol is better than existing protocols in both of transmission delay and packet loss. Especially, proposed protocol in this paper con be used in multicast services needed high reliability.
