During Xenopus early development, FGF signaling is involved in mesoderm formation and neurogenesis by modulating various signaling cascades. FGF-MAPK signaling induces Xbra expression, which maintains mesodermal fate through an autocatalytic-loop. Interestingly, previous reports have demonstrated that basic FGF (bFGF) treatment alone does not induce neurogenesis in ectodermal explants, even though FGF signaling inhibits BMP signaling via phosphorylation in Smad1 linker region. In addition, the overexpression of dominantnegative Xbra induces neurogenesis in ectodermal explants. However, the detailed mechanism underlying these phenomena has not yet been clarified. In this work, we showed that bFGF-Xbra signaling increased the PV.1 expression. DN-Xbra was found to decrease PV.1 expression, and the co-injection of PV.1 with DN-Xbra reduced neurogenesis in ectodermal explants. Furthermore, the knockdown of PV.1 induced neurogenesis in bFGF-treated ectodermal explants. Taken together, our results demonstrate that FGF-Xbra signaling induces PV.1 expression and that PV.1 functions as a neural repressor in the FGF-treated ectoderm.

In this paper, we study The Effects of PV Cell's Electrical Characteristics for PV Module Application. Photovoltaic module consists of serially connected solar cell which has low open circuit voltage and high short circuit current characteristics. The whole current flow of PV module is restricted by lowest current of one solar cell. For the experiment, we make PV module composing the solar cells that have short circuit current difference of 0%, 1%, 3% and Random. The PV module exposed about 35days, its the maximum power drop ratio was 4.282% minimum and 6.657% maximum. And PV module of low current characteristics has electrical stress from other modules. The solar cell temperature of PV module was higher compared to PV cell. To prevent early degradation, it is need to have attention to PV cell selection.
This study aims to investigate advantages of complex installation of green roof and PV system in a public building, to analyze the impact of green roof on the efficiency of PV power generation, and to consider the correlation between green roof and PV power generation. When the temperature and power generation of the modules installed in the green roof and non-green roof of the public building were measured for 3 days, the average temperature of the green roof was 23.6 degrees, and it was 36.1 degrees in the non-green roof which increased by nearly 53%. Overall, the module temperature in the green roof was lower. On the other hand, in relation to the PV generation depending on temperature reduction during the same period, the mono-crystalline module and the poly-crystalline module in the green roof showed an increase in generation at nearly 222.2W and 341.6W, and the efficiency rose by 5.5% and 6.2%, respectively, compared to the modules in the non-green roof. Therefore, it is analyzed that green roof has a positive influence on PV power generation. Finally shows the efficiency of the installed on the Green Roof PV system (complex Installation) higher than on the concrete roof PV system. Thus, the complex PV systems as well as the usual benefits of green roofs will provide greater synergies.
In this study, a 4-year-old mountain ginseng was mixed and ripened with 4-year-matured persimmon vinegar, and then it was diluted 5 times and orally administerd to rats. Afterwards, by analyzing the protein expression rate which affects both the carbohydrate metabolism and the lipid metabolism, this study examined the anti-obesity effect of the fusion material. The rats were divided into a control group (CON), a persimmon vinegar group (PV) and a mountain ginseng+persimmon vinegar fusion material group (MPV). The weight gain rate was found to be low in PV and MPV, and the concentration of glucose was also low in PV and MPV. However, GLUT-2 was found to be significantly high in these two groups on the contrary. Both the concentration of free fatty acid and CPT-1 protein expression rate were high in PV and MVP, but MVP was higher than PV. Cytochrome C oxidase was found to be higher in MPV than in CON. AMPK, $PPAR-{\gamma}$ and $PGC1-{\alpha}$ were all high in PV and MPV, but MPV was higher than PV. All the results above verified the thermogenesis effect of the fusion material, leading to an increase of energy metabolism, and it was thought that the fusion material could be effectively used for anti-obesity. However, it seems necessary to verify the anti-obesity effect through various further studies.
Direct Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method that combines biological and enzymatic amplification of PCR targets was developed for the detection of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines on soybeen seeds without DNA isolation. Primers Xag F1 and Xag R1 were designed to specifically amplify a 401 bp fragment of the glycinecin A gene of X axonopodis pv. glycines. Xag F1 and Xag R1 were used to carry out the PCR analysis with genomic DNA from 45 different bacterial strains including phylogenetically related bacteria with X axonopodis pv. glycines, and other bacterial strains of different genus and species. The PCR assay using this set of primers were able to detect X axonopodis pv. glycines with DNA concentration as low as 200 fg and $1.8{\times}10^3$ cfu/ml. The Xag was detected from the seed samples incubated for 2 hrs with shaking and the intensity of the band was increase with the incubation time of seeds. The Direct PCR assay method without DNA isolation makes detection of X. axonopodis pv. glycines on soybean seeds easier and more sensitive than other conventional methods. The developed seed assay using direct PCR method will be useful for the specific detection of X. axonopodis pv. glycines in soybean seed samples.
This research was conducted to determine physical properties of four root media, peatmoss + vermiculite (1:1, v/v; PV), peatmoss + composted rice hall (1:1, PR), peatmoss + composted saw-dust (1:1 : PS) and peatmoss + composted pine bark (1:1 PB), as influenced by incorporation rate of Stock-sorb C (STSB). Each root medium containing STSB was packed in 22 cm diameter plastic pot and the physical properties were determined at 5 weeks after packing. As incorporation rate of STSB were elevated, total porosity increased in PV, PS and PB media with statistical differences at $5{\%}$ level. Those also resulted in increase of container capacity in PS and PB media, but statistical differences were not observed in PV and PR media. Elevated incorporation rate of STSB in PV, PS and PB media resulted in increase of air space with statistical differences. Trends in air space of the three root media showed a linear as well as quadratic responses to STSB contents of media. As incorporation rate of STSB increased, more water was retained in four root media at the soil moisture tension of 4.90 kPa, 9.81 kPa, 29.4 kPa and 1.5 MPa. The amount of water retained in PS medium was the highest at the moisture tension at 29.4 kPa and 1.5 MPa followed by PB, PR and PV medium. These results indicated that elevation of incorporation rate of STSB to various root media increased moisture retention capacity, but did not increase the available water holding capacity.
In this paper, the power loss due to PV module mismatch in PV string is analyzed and a mismatch compensation method is proposed to improve the efficiency of PV system. The analysis of mismatch loss using PV model simulation reveals that the mismatch module may decrease the total efficiency because the MPPT function of power conditioner make the PV system operate at the local maximum point. The mismatch loss can be severe if the maximum power point current of mismatch module is less than that of string. The proposed compensation method which is simply implemented with a buck type converter shows the possibility to remove the mismatch loss. The effectiveness of the analysis and compensation method is verified by a prototype experiment.

An increase in the temperature of photovoltaic (PV) modules causes reduced power output and shorter lifetime. Because of these characteristics, demands for the heat dissipation of PV modules are increasing. In this study, we attached a heat dissipation sheet to the back sheet of a shingled PV module and observed the temperature changes. The PV shingled module was tested under Standard Test Conditions (STCs; irradiance: 1,000 W/㎡, temperature: 25℃, air mass: 1.5) using a solar radiation tester, wherein the temperature of the PV module was measured by irradiating light for a certain duration. As a result, the temperature of the PV module with the heat dissipation sheet decreased by 3℃ compared to that without a heat dissipation sheet. This indicated that the power loss was caused by a temperature increase of the PV module. In addition, it was confirmed that the primary parameter contributing to the reduced PV module output power was the open circuit voltage (Voc).
This study aims to investigate and analyze the overall recognition of the photovoltaic system for the application of BIPV(Building Integrated Photovoltaic) in Korea. For this purpose, a survey was carried on through questionnaires answered by 6 groups of experts such as construction engineers, registered architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, university or college professors, and others who are ranked high in their companies or universities or colleges and who mostly seem to be eager to participate in the development of the PV system and to make a business of the system. The results of the survey are as follows: 1. About 95% of those experts who answered the questionnaire have known about renewable energy, and 93% of them are interested in solar energy as alternative energy 2. Host experts have a lot of information on the solar energy system, but have scanty information on the PV system. 3. The experts in the educational and research field have researched for the reasonable period of the participation in the development of the PV system and the period of making a business of the system. They judge that companies in the mechanical and electrical field will participate in the development of the PV system and will make a business of the system in 5 years. 4. The experts have thought that the PV system is designed not for economy but for the environment of the earth and that PV system technology in Korea is much lower than that in the advanced countries. 5. The experts hesitate to participate in the development of the PV system and to make a business of the system because they have little confidence in the economy of the PV system now and because they have thought that they will bear a great financial burden of construction cost 6. The experts judge that it is most desirable to apply the PV system to the rooftops of buildings. And they are greatly interested in the BIPV.
Recently, a number of large-scale photovoltaic(PV) power generation system has been installed all over the world. Thus, in order to improve the system efficiency, the optimal design of the large-scale PV systems has become an important issue. DC cable loss of PV array is one of the design factors related to the system efficiency. This paper introduces the array design method of a 500kW Photovoltaic power plant. Three types of the PV array are suggested. Also, string cables, sub-array cables and array cables are designed within 1% of voltage drop in the line, and the DC cable losses are analyzed. The results of this paper show that the DC cable loss of large-scale PV array can be reduced by adopting a proper sub-array design method.
