  • For designers, Chinese characters are featured as its unique cultural connotation and the inheritance of information. In visual designs, the beauty of Bushou in form, especially its potential forms, plays an important role and has been applied in various modern designs. There are analyses focused on radicals' roles, as well as its performance and design principles in modern posters in order to figure out how radicals are inherited and developed in posters. Additionally, these researches are conducted to recognize the cultural values of the visual linguistics of Bushou. In this paper, collating of the history and structure of Chinese characters, along with the history, function, classification and meaning of Bushou has been conducted through the method of literature research. The function of Bushou and its potential visual performance means, as well as the objective laws are summarized by analyzing Bushou posters.

Fate of abstracts presented at the Turkish Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (TAOMS) meetings between 2007 and 2009

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the rate of peer-reviewed publication of abstracts presented at the annual meetings of the Turkish Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (TAOMS) and to identify the time to publication, subspecialty, and study design. Materials and Methods: All abstracts accepted for presentation at a TAOMS meeting between 2007 and 2009 were identified from a book of abstracts and were searched for publication using PubMed and Google Scholar. The following variables were evaluated: publication rate, type of presentation (oral or poster), time to publication, subspecialty, study design, and name of the journal in which the article was published. Results: A total of 478 abstracts were presented at the TAOMS meetings between 2007 and 2009. Of these, 140 abstracts (29.3%) were subsequently published in peer-reviewed journals, including 38.2% of oral presentations and 26.6% of poster presentations. The mean time from presentation to publication was 22 months. Regarding publication fields, research and emerging technologies presentations had the highest publication rate (100%). With regard to study type, animal study (70.0%) and basic research (55.0%) had the highest publication rates. Conclusion: Only 29.3% of abstracts presented at the TAOMS meeting were subsequently published as full-text articles. This rate was found to be similar to the previously reported publication rates in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

A Study on Possibility of Detection of Insulators' Faults by Analyses of Radiation Noises from Insulators (애자의 소음 분석을 통한 애자 고장 탐지 가능성 연구)

  • The porcelain insulators are important devices, that are used to isolate electrically and hold mechanically in the high-voltage power transmission systems. The faults of the insulators induce very serious problems to the power transmission line. In this paper, we introduce techniques for fault detections of insulators by acoustic radiation noises from them. We measured radiation noises from normal state insulators and fault state insulators. The used insulators were two different type porcelain insulators, a cut out switch, two different type line posters, and a lightning arrester. Each results was compared each other in time domain, frequency domain and filter banks' outputs. We found the possibility of detection of insulators' faults and also suggested techniques for fault detections.

  • Carbon Fiber Re-enforced Polymer (CFRP) has replaced steel, especially for mobile devices. As CFRP is stiff and light-weight, it has been applied to airplane, sport car, golf clubs, semiconductor transporter, satellites, etc. In the telescope, the plastic material was introduced to the supporting tubes or rods connecting the primary mirror assembly and the secondary mirror structure. Nowadays, even the mirror itself is produced by CFRP. In this poster, material properties and production of CFRP telescopes are presented, and pros and cons are discussed.

Submillimeter Galaxies and Their Environments

  • Submillimeter galaxies are the progenitors of massive galaxy formation, and therefore their interaction with the early intergalactic medium must be an important subject in the cosmology and galaxy astrophysics. However, their detailed relation between the galaxies and surrounding environments is still largely unknown. In this poster, we will present the characteristics of their surrounding environments of a large sample of mm-detected submillimeter galaxies. We will also discuss the proposal for the future observations of these galaxies and their environments using the ALMA and the GMT.

Alfvenic Turbulence in Pulsar/Black Hole Magnetospheres

  • If the magnetic field is extremely strong, as in pulsar/black hole magnetospheres, the Alfven speed approaches to the speed of light and we need relativity to describe interactions of Alfvenic waves. In this poster, we discuss physics of Alfvenic turbulence in this limit. We first discuss interaction of Alfvenic wave packets and scaling relations of resulting turbulence. Then we show results of numerical simulations. Finally we compare relativistic Alfvenic turbulence and its Newtonian counterpart.

이온빔 전처리 장비 (IM-4000)를 이용한 시료 전처리 분석 사례 소개

  • TFT-LCD, OLED 등의 불량 분석을 위해 단면 가공이 필요한 경우 주로 FIB (Focused Ion Beam)를 이용하여 전처리 하고 있으나, 단면 가공을 해야 하는 두께가 두껍거나 분석해야 하는 영역이 넓은 경우 짧게는 수 시간에서 많게는 수십 시간까지 전처리 시간이 소요되는 어려움이 있다. 이러한 시료의 경우, 수 keV로 가속된 이온빔을 조사하여 시료를 시료를 가공하는 이온빔 전처리 장비를 활용하면 전처리 시간 단축 및 FIB 로 분석할 수 없는 넓은 영역에 대한 단면 분석이 가능하다. 본 Poster 에서는 이온빔 전처리 장비를 활용하여 분석한 사례를 소개하고자 한다.
