Longitudinal Modal Analysis of a LOX-filled Tank Using the Virtual Mass Method

  • For liquid rocket engine(LRE)-based space launch vehicles, longitudinal instability, often referred to as the pogo phenomenon in the literature is predicted. In the building block of system-level task, accurate dynamic modeling of a fluid-filled tank is an essential. This paper attempts to apply the virtual mass method that accounts for the interaction of the vehicle structure and the enclosed liquid oxygen to LOX-filled tanks. The virtual mass method is applied in a modal analysis considering the hydroelastic effect of the launch vehicle tank. This method involves an analysis of the fluid in the tank in the form of mass matrix. To verify the accuracy of this method, the experimental modal data of a small hemispherical tank is used. Finally, the virtual mass method is applied to a 1/8-scale space shuttle external tank. In addition, the LOX tank bottom pressure in the external tank model is estimated. The LOX tank bottom pressure is the factor required for the coupling of the LOX tank with the propulsion system. The small hemispherical tank analysis provides relatively accurate results, and the 1/8-scale space shuttle external tank provides reasonable results. The LOX tank bottom pressure is also similar to that in the numerical results of a previous analysis.

  • 액체 연료 로켓의 연료 공급 라인을 모사 한 시스템에 대해, PSD가 시스템의 응답에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 주관의 유량 변화에 대한 주관 압력 변화의 비(시스템 응답)를 PSD 내의 기체 체적$((0\~2)\times10^{-3}m^3)$과 PSD 배플의 직경(5, 50, 115 mm)을 변화시키며 살펴보았다. PSD 내에 기체가 있을 경우, 시스템의 고유진동 주파수가 작아짐을 확인하였다. 그리고 기체의 체적이 클수록 시스템 고유진동 주파수가 작아졌으나, 그 변화는 그리 크지 않았다. 또한 PSD 내 기체량이 많은 경우, 주관 내 압력 및 유량 변화의 진폭이 많이 감소함을 확인할 수 있었다. PSD 배플의 직경이 작아질수록 시스템 고유 진동 주파수가 작아졌으나 그 변화는 작았다. 또한 PSD 배플의 저항이 클 때, PSD 내 압력은 주관의 압력 크기보다 작고, 지연된 파형이 관찰되었다.

  • Trade between Korea and Quingdao, Sandongseung has been developed into Private Trade from the Tributary Trade of Silla. Today there are around 6,000 Korean Enterprises in Quingdao, being $22.5\%$ of total Quingdao trades and $60\%$ in the number of investments and monetary scale. Korea is in the first rank among Quingdao's trade parteners. Trade Dispute Settlement System, however, is still in poor condition. It should be improved for the activation of trade. The big solution is the Unification of Arbitration Procedure. For it, First, The staff of The Korean Commercial Arbitration Board should be dispatched to Quingdao Arbitration Commission. Second, there should be common arbitration rules between two institutes.(The Korean Commercial Arbitration Board and Quingdao Arbitration Commission). Third, a single arbitration panel should be made. Fourth, there should be the unification of methods in choosing the place of arbitration and arbitrators. Finally, a common arbitration institute should be installed.

PSD 성능 시험 장치의 설계 (Design of PSD Performance Test System)

  • 본 연구에서는 기존 연구에서 사용된 PSD 성능 시험 장치를 살펴보았다. 성능 시험 장치는 공급관 전체 가진 방식과 작동 유체 가진 방식으로 구분할 수 있다. 작동유체 가진 방식은 다시 피스톤 방식과 면적제한 방식으로 분류할 수 있다. 면적 제한 방식이 기초 연구에 알맞으며, 제작된 실험장치의 구성품을 제시하였다.

Importance of Clusters in Industry Development: A Case of Singapore's Petrochemical Industry

  • This paper rejuvenates the existing discussion on the importance of cluster approach to industry development strategies. Current evidences suggest that the shape of economic policy and practice is changing significantly around the world. Governments continually search for new tools and policy formulas to improve economic performance and create economic prosperity for all citizens. In this context a more proactive and strategic role for government in support of the cluster-based economic development model has emerged. This paper uses Singapore's petrochemical industry as an example to study the cluster approach to industry development. In doing so, there is much optimism to the importance of state and its institutions to play a significant role on industry development. Nevertheless, the study also raises doubts on whether the cluster-based strategy is due to the concept itself or due to other important factors.

  • The longitudinal instability (POGO) of the rocket should not be occurred during the whole flight time for the large class liquid propulsion system to complete a mission successfully. The longitudinal instability is caused by the resonance between the propulsion system and rocket structure in the low frequency range below 50Hz, ordinarily. We can consider various types of propulsion system in the early stage of rocket development. So the longitudinal instability analysis tool is needed for corresponding to each propulsion system. This article deals the generalized method applied to the analysis on the low frequency dynamic characteristics of various types of liquid propulsion system.

  • In liquid-propellant rockets, POGO instability can occur, in which a fluctuation of propellant supply to the engine, a thrust fluctuation, and a structural vibration are coupled. For the prediction of this instability, it is required to provide dynamic characteristics of the pump represented as the transfer matrix correlating the upstream and downstream pressure and flow rate fluctuations. In the present study, the flow rate fluctuation is evaluated from the fluctuation of pressure difference at the different locations assuming that the fluctuation is caused by the inertia of the flow rate fluctuation. The experiments were performed in some flow conditions, and it was shown that the tendencies of dynamic characteristics are related to excitation frequencies, cavitation numbers and flow rate coefficients.

  • Saccharomyces cerevisiae의 RNAI 유전자의 온도 감수성 돌연변이 균주는 성장허용 온도인 23"C에서는 정상적인 성"J--을하나, 성 장억제 온도인 36°C에서는 tRNA, rRNA 그러고 mRNA 의 선우울질을을 핵내에 축적함으후써 성장을 못한다. 본 실 험에서는 complementation 에 의하여 RNAI 유전자를 클로녕하였으며 concomitant loss 실험에 의하여 이 유천자의 클로닝 을 확인하였다. 유전자의 위치를 확인한 결과 3.5kb의 Bgl II 조각내에 RNAI 유전자가 존재함을 알 수 있였으며, 2.1kb에 해당하는 BamH I -Bgl II 조각에서는 RNAI 유전지에 의한 complementation 능력이 상실되는 것으후 보아 RNAI 유전자 는 3.5kb의 BglIl 조각내에 포함되는 BamH 1 자리 주위에 결쳐 있픔을 알 수 있었다.

  • Apollo Mission이 종료된지 거의 반세기가 지났지만, 지금도 Saturn V 발사체의 기술의 복원과 개량을 위한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Saturn V 발사체의 1단 로켓(S-IC)의 개발 과정과 엔진 퍼지, 포고현상 억제 방법, 연료탱크 가압 방식, 유압 및 공압 시스템의 운용 방식 등에 대한 특징들에 대해 조사하였다. S-IC의 추진기관 시스템의 특징에 대한 이해는 발사체 시스템의 이해를 도울 수 있고, 향후 발사체 개발 시에 시간, 비용 등의 절감 효과를 가져다 줄 수 있는 유용한 참고 자료가 될 것이라 예상된다.

Ferrying to the Other Shore: Silla Seafarers and Avalokiteśvara Faith in the East Asian Maritime World

  • Historically, commerce was a significant factor in the proliferation and development of Buddhism, which is especially manifest in the cult of the bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara. Iconographic and textual evidence testifies that maritime trade on the Indian Ocean played a fundamental role in the formation of Avalokiteśvara worship. The sea was also a major conduit through which elements of the Avalokiteśvara faith were transmitted from India through China to Korea and Japan, the easternmost ends of the Silk Road. These elements include Avalokiteśvara's role as a maritime savior, oceanic symbolism, and the concept of the bodhisattva's worldly abode, Potalaka. Cultic sites dedicated to maritime safety were established at important transport hubs in East Asia. Due to China's strategic location on the Silk Road, as well as its cultural influence, the most important cultic sites were founded in China, first on the Shandong Peninsula, then in the southern Jiangnan region, in present-day Zhejiang Province. Especially notable is the role that Korean seafarers played in this process by assisting monks in search of the Dharma, establishing temples, and transmitting religious beliefs across the ocean. The present study focuses on the role that maritime figures played in the cultural exchanges between Korea, China, and Japan examined through Avalokiteśvara faith. By this, it aims to demonstrate how Korean seafarers inherited and continued the traditional relationship between commerce and Buddhism, while extending the Maritime Silk Road to the "East Asian Mediterranean."
