Characteristic Simulation of PM-Type Magnetic Circuit Breaker

  • This paper presents the characteristic simulation of PM-type magnetic circuit breaker with the 2D finite element magnetic field solution including non-linearity of the material and an eddy current. Change of dynamic characteristic of the actuator is quantified from the finite element analysis. The results obtained from a commercial finite element analysis software are compared with those calculated from the developed finite element analysis software. A new modified model to decrease the eddy current is proposed. The characteristics of the two models are compared.

  • This paper describes the operating characteristic analysis of PM-type magnetic circuit breaker for electromagnetic field, electric circuit and mechanical motion problems. Transient calculations are based upon the magnetic equivalent circuit analysis including non-linearity of materials and using iteration routines. The analysis results of this magnetic equivalent circuit are compared with those of FEM.

  • This paper describes the operating characteristic analysis of the PM-type linear oscillatory actuator used as a magnetic circuit breaker for the electromagnetic field, electric circuit, and mechanical motion problems. Transient calculations are based upon a 2D finite element magnetic field solution including non-linearity of materials. Changes of the dynamic characteristics from the eddy current in the plunger are quantified from finite element analysis. A new laminated model is proposed to decrease the eddy current effect.
