High Control of Induction Motor Drive using Multi Adaptive Fuzzy Controller (다중 적응 퍼지제어기를 이용한 유도전동기 드라이브의 고성능 제어)

  • The field oriented control of induction motors is widely used in high performance applications. However, detuning caused by parameter disturbance still limits the performance of these drives. In order to accomplish variable speed operation conventional PI-like controllers are commonly used. These controllers provide limited good performance over a wide range of operation even under ideal field oriented conditions. This paper is proposed adaptive fuzzy controller(AFC) and artificial neural network(ANN) based on the vector controlled induction motor drive system. Also, this paper is proposed control of speed and current using fuzzy adaptation mechanism(FAM), AFC and estimation of speed using ANN. The proposed control algorithm is applied to induction motor drive system using FAM, AFC and ANN controller. Also, this paper is proposed the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of this controller.

Development of Compact Phase-difference Controller for an Ultrasonic Rotary Motor (회전형 초음파모터의 소형 위상차 제어기 개발)

  • In this paper, a uniform speed controller for an ultrasonic rotary motor is developed using the phase-difference method. The phase difference method uses traveling waves to drive the ultrasonic motor. The traveling waves are obtained by adding two standing waves that have a different phase to each other. A compact phase-difference driver system is designed and integrated by combining VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) and phase shifter. Theoretically the relationship between the phase difference in time and the rotational speed of the ultrasonic motor is sine function, which is verified by experiments. Then a series of experiments under various loading conditions are conducted to characterize the motor's performance that is the relationship between the speed and torque. Proportional-integral control is adopted for the uniform speed control. The proportional control unit calculates the compensating phase-difference using the rotating speed which is measured by an encoder and fed back. Integral control is used to eliminate steady-state errors. Differential control for reducing overshoot is not used since the response of ultrasonic motor is prompt due to its low inertia and friction-driving characteristics. The developed controller demonstrates reasonable performance overcoming disturbing torque and the changes in material properties due to continuous usage.

  • In this paper a self-tuning control algorithm has been utilized to control speed of a rolling mill DC drive system. Inner current control loop is composed of predictive current controller and the outer speed control loop is composed of the self-tuning PI or IP controller. Computer simulation results reveal that the adaptive control algorithm using self-tuning control is capable of following the typical set point variations required for a rolling mill in conjunction with load torque variations on the shaft of the drive.

  • In this paper, the adaptive fuzzy logic controller(AFLC) is proposed, which uses real-coding genetic algorithm showing a good performance on convergence velocity and diversity of population among evolutionary computations. The effectiveness of the proposed AFLC was demonstrated by computer simulation for speed control system of AC servo motor. As a result of simulation for the AC servo motor, it is shown the proposed AFLC has the better performance on overshoot, settling time and rising time than the PI controller which is used when tuning AFLC.

  • In this paper, a novel design method of variable motor inertia in Induction motor drive system is proposed. The inertia of a load and a motor are estimated by using RLS (Recursive Least Square) algorithm. The speed controller is designed by Kharitonov theory of motor. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified with simulation and experiment results.

  • This paper deals with fuzzy control with a feedforward compensator to progress both energy saving and coefficient of performance (COP) in a variable speed refrigeration system. Both the capacity and superheat are controlled simultaneously and independently in the system. By adopting the fuzzy theory, the controller design for the capacity and superheat is possible without depending on a dynamic model of the system. Moreover, the feedforward compensator of the superheat can reduce influence of the interfering loop between the capacity and superheat. Some experiments are conducted to design appropriate fuzzy controller by an iteration manner. The results show that the proposed fuzzy controller with the compensator can establish good control performances for the complicated refrigeration system in spite of its inherent strong non-linearity. Also, the fuzzy control performances were investigated by comparing to the model based PI control experimental results to evaluate transient behavior under the control.

  • This paper proposes a fuzzy neural network controller based on the vector control for interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) drive system. The hybrid combination of neural network and fuzzy control will produce a powerful representation flexibility and numerical processing capability This paper does not oかy presents speed control of IPMSM using neuro-fuzzy control(NFC) but also speed estimation using artificial neural network(ANN) controller. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The error between the desired state variable and the actual one is back-propagated to adjust the rotor speed, so that the actual state variable will coincide with the desired one. The back propagation mechanism is easy to derive and the estimated speed tracks precisely the actual motor speed. Thus, it is presented the theoretical analysis as well as the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method in this paper.

  • In this paper, a robust control system with the disturbance observer is proposed for BLDC servo system. The overall control system consists of the speed controller which is implemented with PI controller and the disturbance observer with free parameters. The proposed control system is designed the command input response and the closed loop characteristics independently by using two-degrees-of-freedom concept, so it can improve the closed loop characteristics with no influence on the command input response. The effective suppression of disturbance with the observer improves the characteristics of the closed loop of the system. And also, by fluting the bandwidth of free parameters, measurement noise is considered. To verify the better performance of the proposed control system than that of the conventional PI controllers, the performance of the controller is analyzed theoretically and some simulation results are presented.

A Study on High Precision Temperature Control of an Oil Cooler for Machine Tools Using Hot-gas Bypass Method

  • This study aims at precise control of oil outlet temperature in the oil cooler system of machine tools for enhancement of working speed and processing accuracy. PID control logic is adopted to obtain desired oil outlet temperature of the oil cooler system with hot-gas bypass method. We showed that the gains of PID controller could be easily determined by using gain tuning methods to get the gain of PID controller without any mathematical model. We also investigated various gain tuning methods to design the gains of PID and compared each control performance for selecting the optimal tuning method on the hot gas bypass method through experiments. Moreover, we confirmed excellent control performance with proposed PI controller gain even though disturbances were abruptly added to the experimental system.

  • This paper proposes a cooling system using self tuning PI controller for improving the output of BIPV module. The temperature characteristics in regard to improving the output of BIPV system has rarely been studied up to now but some researchers only presented the method using a ventilator. The cooling system efficiency of BIPV module applied to a ventilator mainly depends on the weather such as wind and insolation etc. Because the cooling system of BIPV module using a ventilator is so sensitive, that is being set off by wind speed at all time but is unable to operate in the nominal operating cell temperature(NOCT) which is able to make the maximum output. The paper proposes the cooling system using thermoelectron by self tuning PI controller so as to solve such problems. The thermoelectron control of self tuning PI controller can be controlled independently in the outside environment because that is performed by micro-controller. The temperature control of thermoelectron, also, can be operated around NOCT through algorism of the temperature control. Therefore, outputs of the whole system increase and the efficiency rises. The paper demonstrates the validity of proposed method by comparing the data obtained through a experiment of the cooling method of BIPV using a ventilator and proposed thermoelectron
