LED Fluorescent Lamp Optical Design using Photopia (Photopia를 이용한 LED 형광등 광학설계)

  • 20W급 LED 형광등 광학 설계를 위하여 1W ${\times}$ 20개와 2W ${\times}$ 10개의 두 가지 경우로 Photopia를 이용하여 시뮬레이션 하였다. 이를 통하여 배광곡선, 조도분포, 균제도를 분석하였으며, 그 결과 배광 분포는 1W ${\times}$ 20개가 균일하며, 경제성은 2W ${\times}$ 10개가 우수함을 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • 조명용 광원으로써 LED의 사용이 늘어나고 있고, 앞으로도 더욱 늘어날 추세이다. 하지만 현재 출시되는 LED를 조명 용도에 적합한 배광을 구현하는 렌즈를 설계하는 작업은 설계 방법이 어렵고, 많은 반복 작업을 동반한다. 이에 새롭게 출시된 Photopia 3.0 Version의 PODT 기능을 이용해 LED 렌즈를 쉽게 설계할 수 있는 방법을 소개하고, 간단한 렌즈 설계를 수행 하였다.

A Computational Analysis on Candela Distribution Curves and Performance Prediction of a Fiber Optic Dish Daylighting System by Photopia (Photopia를 이용한 추적식 디쉬형 집광기의 배광분포 분석 및 자연채광 성능 예측)

  • A set of candela distribution curves(CDCs) were generated for a fiber optic dish daylighting system by Photopia under clear sky conditions at different solar altitudes. The candela distribution curves were then exported to Radiance for photometric analysis of a windowless lecture room. Observations were made on the Radiance rendered illuminance images, which provided photo realistic scenes varying with solar altitudes. If no tracking error were assumed, the daylight collection efficiency of the system remained at a constant value of 68.4% during its operation. Higher the solar altitude angle, greater in photometric quantities were observed, which are represented by candela(cd) and total lumens(lm). In all cases considered, however, the angle of light distribution remained fixed reflecting the solar tracking feature of the system. The illuminance uniformity on the workplane lingered around 0.12, which is quite low. This is quite a contrast to its average value of 0.68 of the $2.7m^2$ area directly below the terminal device (diffuser) of the system. The maximum illuminance of 1,340lux was obtained at a solar altitude of 80 degrees.

  • 자연광의 이용은 큰 어려움 없이 지속 가능한 에너지 기술을 구현할 수 있는 방안으로 고려되고 있다. 여러 개의 작은 반사경을 적용한 태양 추적식 자연채광 시스템은 비교적 단순한 메카니즘을 적용하여 그 성능과 효용성의 극대화를 꾀할 수 있으며, 또한 그 제작, 설치 작동 그리고 활용성에서 상당한 이점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 작은 mini-dish형 반사경(직경<30cm 이하)을 이용한 화이버 광학 집광기의 설계, 제작 및 작동 특성에 대하여 소개하고, 아울러 광추적 프로그램인 Photopia를 이용하여 그 성능에 대한 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 주요 구성 요소에서의 광추적에 의한 시뮬레이션 결과치는 실제 시스템의 설계 및 성능 예측에 중요한 기술적 데이터를 제공하며, 특히 실측이 곤란한 측정 면에서의 빛의 경로 해석에 유용하게 적용될 수 있다.

  • Use of various lighting simulation software has been increased Lighting simulation software can be categorized into two types. One is for optical design while the other is for estimation and analysis of lighting design. Photopia 2.0 is typical software for optical design of a luminare and Lumen-micro 2000, Relux 2006, Lightscape 3.2 and AGI 32 are software for lighting design. Through using various lighting simulation software some different results can be found under the same conditions. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to compare measured and simulated photometric data of different types of luminaires and to compare simulated values from Lumen-micro 2000, Relux 2006, Lightscape 3.2 and AGI 32 under the same conditions. In addition, the reasons for such differences are analyzed.

  • Daylighting software is an important component to predict the performance of daylighting system in advance of a field demonstration study with installing them in buildings. PHOTOPIA is a powerful software to generate a candela distribution curve(CDC) of an active daylighting system like a tracking dish concentrator. With PHOTOPIA, a set of candela distribution curves was generated under clear sky conditions and different solar altitude angles. The candela distribution curves were then imported to RADIANCE for rendering and analysis on the daylighting performance of a tracking dish concentrator when it installed in a actual class room without windows. As a result, the daylight collection efficiency of the dish concentrator was 68.4% when we assumed that there was no tracking error. It was found that candela(cd) and total lumens(lm) increased with solar altitude rising, whereas the distribution angle was fixed. The illuminance uniformity on the work plane in the class room was relatively low, 0.12, while the illuminance uniformity on the area of $2.7m^2$ to which the light was illuminated was considerably high, 0.60. The maximum illuminance was 1,340lux with a solar altitude angle of 80 degrees.

A Comparative Study on Daylighting Performance Prediction of Light Tube and Dish Concentrator (광튜브와 디쉬형 집광기의 자연채광 성능 예측 및 비교 연구)

  • This study presents the simulation results of Photopia when a lecture room with north-facing windows were illuminated by two different types of daylighting systems to improve the imbalance in its lighting conditions. Especially, the candela power distribution curves (CDCs) on a clear sunny day at the summer solstice, reaching $80^{\circ}$ in solar altitude, were analyzed with respect to the illuminance available at task areas (work planes). The difference between its illuminance on the north and south areas exceeded 1,000 lux without any daylighting system. This, however, decreased drastically with the application of a daylighting system. When a light tube system was introduced, it reduced from 906lx to 603lx and, even further to 308lx with the application of a dish concentrator system. Generally, the performance of a light tube system was greatly influenced by solar altitude while its effect on the dish concentrator system was rather negligible.

  • The reflector of infrared lamp is designed to the optimal circular shape through the analyses of lumination distributions with a triangular, rectangular and circular configurations of infrared lamps respectively by using Photopia. PLC is used to compare and amplify the difference between soldering temperature profile and feedback value. It is fed to IR lamp controller which adjusts the soldering temperature of PV cell. The soldering temperature measured using an infrared temperature sensor is then fed back to the PLC. The closed control loop of soldering temperature on a PV cell is implemented. The noncontact soldering device of PV cells using infrared lamp which is easily operated by HMI operation panel and controlled robustly by PLC and IR lamp controller is developed.
