  • In the alternative current plasma display panel(AC-PDP) technology, it is very important to remove the image sticking for improving an image quality. In this paper, we have investigated the driving method of alternative current plasma display panel(AC-PDP) for preventing image sticking. We have investigated the driving method of alternative current plasma display panel(AC-PDP) for preventing image sticking. The preventing method of image sticking was proposed by adopting the Sticking Remove Pulse(SRP). The variation of brightness is most affected by the MgO to be formed at the surface of the phosphor layer. As a result, the image sticking is reduced when the driving method adopted an SRP.

  • A study on the recovery of yttrium was conducted using the phosphor sludges generated in the recycling process of obsolete CRTs. Yttrium was leached by HCl and $HNO _3$. The leaching efficiency of yttrium was extensively investigated in terms of acid concentration, leaching temperature and time, and pulp density. Yttrium and lead was recovered from leaching solutions also by precipitation method. The leaching behavior of yttrium was similar in both acids. The leaching efficiency of yttrium for both acids increased with time at the conditions of 3.0M, $90^{\circ}C$, and 280 g/L of pulp density. After 40 minutes, it was saturated to 93% and 90% for HCl and HNO$_3$respectively. Yttrium was recovered from leaching acid solution by the addition of $H_2$$C_2$$O_4$while lead was removed as $PbSO_4$by $Na_2$ $SO_4$.

  • For the syntheses of tritium labelled polystyrene, the basic material for the preparation of tritium luminous compound, various methods of labelling such as Tesla discharge, Wilzbach exposure, gamma irradiation, and U V. irradiation were compared in view of getting high specific activity-product. The obtained polystyrene-T(G) by the method of Tesla discharge and by the method of U. V. irradiation had specific activity of 1~1.2 mCi/mg, and these two methods were the most encouraging. Mixing of 1 part of polystyrene-T(G) with 4 parts of ZnS:Cu phosphor, in weight, appeared to be the most suitable ratio in tile preparation of luminous compound in luminosity point of view. When 30 mg. of obtained luminescent mixture was applied on steel plate by using 1 ml. of the selected binder (i.e., 1g of commercial varnish in 100m1. of benzene) the luminosity maximum was ca. 20 micro Lambert. The prepared luminous compound was confirmed to be practically applicable for mine marker or dark-room light source.

  • 53BP1 is an important genome stability regulator, which protects cells against double-strand breaks. Following DNA damage, 53BP1 is rapidly recruited to sites of DNA breakage, along with other DNA damage response proteins, including ${\gamma}$-H2AX, MDC1, and BRCA1. The recruitment of 53BP1 requires a tandem Tudor fold which associates with methylated histones H3 and H4. It has already been determined that the majority of DNA damage response proteins are phosphorylated by ATM and/or ATR after DNA damage, and then recruited to the break sites. 53BP1 is also phosphorylated at several sites, like other proteins after DNA damage, but this phosphorylation is not critically relevant to recruitment or repair processes. In this study, we evaluated the functions of phosphor-53BP1 and the role of the BRCT domain of 53BP1 in DNA repair. From our data, we were able to detect differences in the phosphorylation patterns in Ser25 and Ser1778 of 53BP1 after neocarzinostatin-induced DNA damage. Furthermore, the foci formation patterns in both phosphorylation sites of 53BP1 also evidenced sizeable differences following DNA damage. From our results, we concluded that each phosphoryaltion site of 53BP1 performs different roles, and Ser1778 is more important than Ser25 in the process of DNA repair.

  • Digital radiographic systems allow the implementation of a fully digital picture archiving and communication system (PACS), and provide the greater dynamic range of digital detectors with possible reduction of X-ray exposure to the patient. This article reviewed the basic physical principles of digital radiographic imaging system in dental clinics generally. Digital radiography can be divided into computed radiography (CR) and direct radiography (DR). CR systems acquire digital images using phosphor storage plates (PSP) with a separate image readout process. On the other hand, DR systems convert X-rays into electrical charges by means of a direct readout process. DR systems can be further divided into direct and indirect conversion systems depending on the type of X-ray conversion. While a direct conversion requires a photoconductor that converts X-ray photons into electrical charges directly, in an indirect conversion, lightsensitive sensors such as CCD or a flat-panel detector convert visible light, proportional to the incident X-ray energy by a scintillator, into electrical charges. Indirect conversion sensors using CCD or CMOS without lens-coupling are used in intraoral radiography. CR system using PSP is mainly used in extraoral radiographic system and a linear array CCD or CR sensors, in panoramic system. Currently, the digital radiographic system is an important subject in the dental field. Most studies reported that no significant difference in diagnostic performance was found between the digital and conventional systems. To accept advances in technology and utilize benefits provided by the systems, the continuous feedback between doctors and manufacturers is essential.

  • Purpose: The present study aimed to evaluate which of the following imaging methods best assessed misfit at the tooth-restoration interface: (1) bitewing radiographs, both conventional and digital, performed using a photostimulable phosphor plate (PSP) and a charge-coupled device (CCD) system; (2) panoramic radiographs, both conventional and digital; and (3) cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: Forty healthy human molars with class I cavities were selected and divided into 4 groups according to the restoration that was applied: composite resin, composite resin with liner material to simulate misfit, dental amalgam, and dental amalgam with liner material to simulate misfit. Radiography and tomography were performed using the various imaging methods, and the resulting images were analyzed by 2 calibrated radiologists. The true presence or absence of misfit corresponding to an area of radiolucency in regions subjacent to the esthetic and metal restorations was validated with microscopy. The data were analyzed using a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, and the scores were compared using the Cohen kappa coefficient. Results: For bitewing images, the digital systems (CCD and PSP) showed a higher area under the ROC curve (AUROC) for the evaluation of resin restorations, while the conventional images exhibited a larger AUROC for the evaluation of amalgam restorations. Conventional and digital panoramic radiographs did not yield good results for the evaluation of resin and amalgam restorations (P<.05). CBCT images exhibited good results for resin restorations(P>.05), but showed no discriminatory ability for amalgam restorations(P<.05). Conclusion: Bitewing radiographs (conventional or digital) should be the method of choice when assessing dental restoration misfit.
