  • A PDP(Plasma Display Panel) Frame is critical part of PDP and also produces couple hundred thousand every month. In the process of mass production, product inspection is very important process. Also to increase the reliance, inspection each part and every final product is asked quite often. Purpose of this paper is to use computer vision system to inspect the PDP parts which is Automated visual process inspection. This paper contains the system design for inspecting defects of hole, tab, stud, rivet of PDP Frame. The system also can inspect various kinds of PDP frames. Quick and accurate 100% inspection of all shapes can improve the manufacturing productivity. Inspection results can be stored in a database and analyzed to find the cause of defects. After applying the system to the industry, the result shows the possibility of fast and accuracy of the inspection.

  • PDP 섀시는 우리나라의 핵심 제품중의 하나인 POP의 부품으로 특정 공장에서 한 달에 수만 개 이상을 생산하고 있다. 섀시에 포함된 홀, 탭홀, 스터드, 리벳의 유무를 검사하는데 모든 제품에 대한 전수검사가 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 컴퓨터 비젼 기술을 이용한 POP 섀시 자동 시각 검사 시스템을 설계 구현하였고 이를 산업체에서 적용한 결과 신속하고 정확한 100% 검사가 가능함을 보였다.

  • Various defects are found in PDP manufacturing process. Detecting these defects early and reprocessing them is an important factor that reduces the cost of production. In this paper, the image processing system for the PDP pattern inspection is designed and implemented using the high performance and accuracy CCD line scan camera. For the preprocessing of the high speed line image data, the Image Processing Part (IPP) is designed and implemented using high performance DSP, FIFO and FPGA. Also, the Data Management and System Control Part (DMSCP) are implemented using ARM processor to control many IPP and cameras and to provide remote users with processed data. For evaluating implemented system, experiment environment which has an area camera for reviewing and moving shelf is made. Experimental results showed that proposed system was quite successful.

  • The formation degree of sustain (ITO pattern) decides quality of PDP (Plasma Display Panel). For this reason, it makes efforts in searching defects more than 30 un as 100%. Now, the existing inspection is dependent upon naked eye or microscope in off-line PDP manufacturing process. In this study developed prototype inspection system of PDP 170 glass is based on line-scan mechanism. Developed system creates information that detects and sorts kinds of defect automatically. Designed inspection technology adopts multi-vision method by slip-beam formation for the minimum of inspection time and detection algorithm is embodied in detection ability of developed system. Designed algorithm had to make good use of kernel matrix that draws up an approach to geometry. A characteristic of defects, as pin hole, substance, protrusion, are extracted from blob analysis method. Defects, as open, short, spots and et al, are distinguished by line type inspection algorithm. In experiment, we could have ensured ability of inspection that can be detected with reliability of up to 95% in about 60 seconds.

  • This paper proposes a non-contact color inspection system for plasma display panel (PDP). The red, green, and blue test pattern images are acquired by using the area color CCD camera at the various distance from the PDP. The RGB values are obtained from the region of interest (ROI) which are extracted by applying the image processing to the test pattern image. Finally, the CIE xy and u'v' chromaticity coordinates of the test pattern images according to the distance are acquired from the RGB color coordinates.

  • The light from the exterior considerably deteriorates the performance of displays including PDP (plasma display panel). Thus semi-conductor industries have developed a special optical film that can block or absorb the exterior light. In this paper, we propose a new inspection system for tracing the defects of the film. Our system is able to inspect a $1.5\;m\;{\times}\;1\;m$ area for 10 sec with $127\;{\mu}m\;{\times}\;50{\mu}m$ spatial resolution.

  • Mini Double Gears Frame is critical part of PDP and also produces couple hundred thousand every month. In the process of mass production, product inspection is very important process. Double Gear, one of the part of machine, was inspected by human eyes which caused mistakes and slow progress. To achieve the speed and accuracy the system was compensated by vision system which is inspecting automatically. The focus value is measured based on the fact that high contrast images have much high frequency edge information. High frequency term of the image is extracted using the high-pass filter and the sum of the high frequency term is used as the focus value. We used a Gaussian smoothing filter to reduce the noise and then measures the focus value using the modified Laplacian filter called a Sum modified Laplacian Focus values for the various lens positions are calculated and the position with the maximum focus value is decided as the focused position. The focus values calculated in various lens position showed the Gaussian distribution. We proposed a method to estimate the best focus position using the Gaussian curve fitting. Focus values of the uniform interval lens positions are calculated and the values are used to estimate the Gaussian distribution parameters to find the best focus position.
