  • In this paper, inception and propagation of electrical tree and properties of partial discharge (PD) properties accompanying with tree in XLPE were discussed. The process of electrical tree using CCD camera and investigated the statistical characteristics of the PD properties by $\phi$-q-n pattern were observed. The statistical operators used were asymmetry and skewness.

  • In this paper, it was investigated the applicability of TF analysis for the discrimination of air corona in on-site PD measurement. For the purpose, single and multiple discharges combined with oil discharges and air corona were generated and measured by use of artificial models and HFPD pulse detector. Through the TF analysis, data clusters could be classified each other in the TF Map, even in the case of multiple discharges. Therefore, it is known that TF analysis could be applied for the improvement of on-site PD measurement.

  • We present detailed studies of externally applicable UHF PD sensors for a metal covered epoxy barrier with a small opening of epoxy injection-hole. The sensors were attached at the surface of injection hole of a metal covered epoxy barrier. 3-Dimensional electro magnetic simulations were performed to analyze electric-field distribution of the GIS and epoxy barrier with injection hole. Sensor structures were designed and analyzed using the 3-D EM simulator then fabricated for experimental verification. Sensor performance was measured in terms of spectral response and detected peak power. Real scale GIS and epoxy barriers were used to test and measure various aspect of performance of the sensors.

  • Electrical treeing occurrence is caused by some defect in solid insulator. Those are accompany the PD(partial discharge) occurrence. And lifetime of the insulator is affected by PD. So, detection of electrical treeing is important thing as this view. Especially, detection of the end treeing is more important and have meaning for industrial engineering because concerned with maintenance and replacement of equipment. In this paper, evaluation of treeing process were studied and PCA(principle component analysis)-LDA(linear discriminant analysis) as classification method were used. The result is present the good recognition.

  • 가스절연개폐장치(Gas-insulated Switchgear, GIS)의 예방진단 기술의 한 방법으로, 극 초단파(Ultrahigh frequency) 부분방전(Partial discharge) 센서를 사용하여 결함의 유무를 판별할 수 있다. 그러나 UHF PD 센서에는 부분방전신호 이외에 외부 잡음의 유입 가능성이 크다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 PD 센서 주변 잡음을 측정하기 위하여 $0{\sim}2$ GHz 의주파수영역에서 산지, 도심 지역의 변전소의 위치에 따른 외부 잡음을 측정하였다. 주파수 대역별로 FM 방송, TV 방송, 이동전화, 등의 신호를 판별하였다.

  • 345kV XLPE Cable system was constructed between Yeongseo-Yeongdeunpo at first in Korea. XLPE cable have the advantage of OF cable. it is to raise the power transmission capacity and reduce the power loss and expenses. We also applied many new technology in this project at first. One is pre-fabricated joint which can be easily assembled in the field without any hand-skill, another is PD(Partial Discharge) test for after laying test. Especially, PD measurement for after-laying test was performed to evaluate the quality of the cable joint and termination. Through the good experience of this project, we have gotten the international competitiveness of power business.

  • HFPD(High Frequency Partial Discharge) measurement has been widely performed to diagnosis of cable system in the world although Korea just begin. The efficiency of measurement has been reported and proved by many researchers who are engaged in the diagnosis of high power apparatus. LG Cable has investigated the technology of diagnosis for cable system by means of PD measurement for 10 years. In this paper, PD measurement with portable device was performed to evaluate the quality of the 154kV transmission line and the 22.9kV XLPE cable line. Test results are shown that the HFPD detection technology is very attractive for the diagnosis of power cable system by high detection sensitivity at on-site.

  • In this paper, it's described the techniques for the analysis of corona generated in open live parts of electric facilities. At needle-plane electrodes, when the voltage increased($0{\sim}70kV$, ramping 10kV) using the high voltage generation system(HIPOTRINICS $0{\sim}200kV$, USA), it's generated the partial discharge. There are compared between UV detected image and PD quantity. As these results, UV areas and gains are normalized. And electric facilities are evaluated the 5 steps such as 'good', 'recognition', 'check', 'inspection', 'change(replacement)'.

  • In this paper, describes the fabrication and dielectric insulation characteristics experimental results of the model cable for the 22.9kV class HTS power cable. The model cable were tested with partial discharge(PD), AC and impulse withstand voltage in liquid nitrogen($LN_2$) and liquid nitrogen pressure. In these test results, PD inception stress and AC, impulse breakdown strength increase as the pressure of the liquid nitrogen increases.

  • Because of internal voids in insulators give rise to partial discharge (PD), which cause local breakdown and even entire insulation breakdown. Treeing due to PD is one of the main causes of breakdown of the insulating materials and reduction of the insulation life. Therefore the necessity for establishing a method to diagnose the aging of insulation materials and to predict the breakdown of insulation has become important. From this viewpoint, our studies diagnose insulation degradation using the method of computer sensing system, which has the advantages of PD and acoustic emission (AE) sensing system. To use advantages of these two methods can be used effectively to search for treeing location and PD in some materials. In analysis method of degradation, We analyzed the PD pulse and AE pulses by regression analysis, compared to these obtained the correlation coefficient and determination coefficient by T-distribution and saw that PD and AE pulses show a similar pattern on the whole. This is in agreement with the results of the research by Yoshimura and Fujita.
