Dual Band Microstrip Antenna with Air Substrate (Air Substrate를 이용한 이중 대역 마이크로스트립 안테나)

  • In this paper, we study the characteristics of dual band microstrip antenna with the wedge-shaped radiation patch added the slot using air substrate. Wedge-shaped patch antenna with air substrate is avoided the large probe reactance associated with a thick substrate owing to the use of short probe and good impedance matching over a wide frequency range can be obtained. Slot on the antenna radiator varies the reactance component according to the employed frequency and affect the resonance freaqency of the antenna, therefore the antenna can resonate at the dual band(cellular and PCS band). The slot length and position have an effect on the bandwidth and input impedance of the antenna are optimized by simulation. From the experiment results for the fabricated antenna, -10 dB of $S_{11}$ is content with the allocated bandwidth of Cellular and PCS system and - 15 dB of cross polarization level. From the results of this paper, it has been confirmed that the proposed antenna can be used as the base station antenna fur Cellular and PCS band.

  • 본 논문은 전파통신분야(ITU-R)의 간섭분석기 표준인 몬테카를로 기법에 근거하여 개발된 간섭분석기를 이용하여, PCS 송신 기지국 안테나의 높이에 따라 어떠한 간섭이 미치는지를 구해보고, 실제로 설치할 수 있는 안테나의 최저 높이를 예측해 보고자 간섭영향 분석 을 수행하였다. 개발된 몬테카를로 간섭분석기는 100,000번의 시행 첫수 이상에서 안정된 결과치를 가지며 국내 도심지 내의 서비스 환경을 고려하여 간섭시나리오를 설정하여 모의실험을 수행하였다 모의실험 결과 안테나의 높이가 낮아질수록 간섭확률은 높아졌으며 복잡한 도심지 환경에서 양호한 통화품질을 위한 PCS 기지국 안테나의 높이는 약 20m가 적정하고 통화유지를 위한 안테나의 높이는 13m임을 알 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, triple band mobile chip antenna for DCS($1.71{\sim}1.88GHz$) / PCS($1.75{\sim}1.87GHz$) / UPCS($1.85{\sim}1.99GHz$) on PCB Layout is fabricated. As designed and fabricated antenna is loaded PCB layout, that plate a both side at two independence patterns(upper & lower) to reduce the size and a capacitor for DCS, PCS, UPCS band is proposed. The antenna has a small size of about $19mm{\times}4mm{\times}1.6mm$, narrow bandwidth which is the defect of chip antenna is improved. Bandwidth of fabricated antenna to VSWR less than 2 is satisfied and all bandwith is acquired 15.1 % at $1.71GHz{\sim}1.99GHz$.

Design and Implementation of Dual-Polarized Broadband Antenna for PCS Band and W-CDMA Band (PCS 대역과 W-CDMA 대역 겸용 광대역 이중 편파 안테나 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, a dual polarized broadband antenna fed by L-shaped strip for the Korea PCS band and W-CDMA band is presented. To analyze the characteristics of the designed antenna, we used commercial simulation tool(HFSS). The designed antenna was fabricated and measured using HP8753D vector network analyzer. The measured impedance bandwidth(VSWR<1.5) is 560 MHz and the measured average gain is 6.56 dBi. The measured isolation characteristic between two ports is -14 dB(min.) $\sim$ -40 dB(max.). These results are proper for the mobile communication application and repeater antenna.

  • In this paper, two dualband internal antennas for GPS/PCS handset are proposed. At first, the monopole antenna with parasitic dipole element is designed to print PCB of handset directly. At second, the antenna with bended loop structure is designed to bend to use internal space of handset maximumly. The proposed dualband internal antennas provide a 2:1 VSWR bandwidth of over 19.1 % which are possible to cover two bands at once. the antennas have a gain between -0.4 and 3.33 ㏈i at all bands and they have almost omni-directional patterns.

  • In this paper, a novel dual and wide band aperture stacked patch antenna for Cellular/PCS/IMT-2000 base station is presented. It consists of single microstrip patch having notches along the radiating patch, two dielectric substrates and a form material. To achieve wide band characteristic, we utilize the coupling effect between the notched patch and the resonant aperture in the ground plane and by properly cutting notches on the patch, an aperture stacked patch antenna could be designed to yield dual frequency operation. By the proper choice of resonant aperture size and height of a foam material, dual and wide band characteristic could be realized the measured impedance bandwidth(1:1.5 VSWR) of designed antenna at lower band(860 MHz) reaches 77 MHz and covers the Cellular CDMA band(824∼894 MHz). The measured impedance bandwidth(1:1.5 VSMR) of the designed antenna at upper band(1,960 MHz) is about 550 MHz and covers both the PCS band(1,750∼l,870 MHz) and the for-2000 band(1,920∼2,170 MHz). Good broadside radiation with high gain(5.65∼7.4 dBi) characteristics have also been observed.

  • 본 논문에서는 안테나와 미국 PCS대역(1.85GHz-1.99GHz) FEM(Front End Module)을 결합하여 하나의 패키지로 구현하는 것을 연구하였다. FEM의 크기를 고려하여 안테나의 크기를 작게 만들고 단말기에 내장하기 위해 PIFA(Planar Inverted F Antenna)형식의 안테나를 선택하였다. 안테나의 지지를 위해 비유전율 2의 캐리어를 사용하였고, 안테나와 FEM간의 상호 간섭을 막기 위해 도체로 차폐시켰다. 유한요소법(Finite Element Method)로 모의 실험을 하여 안테나를 설계하고 실제 제작하여 모의 실험결과와 비교하였다. 제작한 안테나를 FEM과 결합, 기판을 제작하여 FEM의 이득을 측정하였다.

Design of Broadband PIFA for PCS and IMT-2000 (PCS 및 IMT-2000용 광대역 PIFA 설계)

  • In this thesis, a new broadband PIFA(Planar Inverted-F Antenna) for PCS and IMP-2000 applications is designed. The dual-L antenna structure is adopted in order to improve the characteristics of PIFA which usually has a narrow band. The height of the antenna is fixed 6 mm considering terminal's thickness and the structure is deformed into the folded radiation patches to minimize the size of the antenna. The bandwidth of a realized antenna is 1.66∼2.35 ㎓(34.5 %) fur return loss below -10 ㏈ which contain the required bandwidth of PCS and IMT-2000. And Monopole antenna with λ/4 length is designed and compared with dual-L with folded patch in SAR. 1 g and 10 g averaged peak SAR of PIFA are about 25.7 %, 30.3 % lower than those of monopole antenna respectively.

  • In this paper, the cross monopole antenna with branch element is presented and its radiation characteristics are investigated. To confirm the broadband characteristics of the proposed antenna, the experimental antenna is designed, fabricated, and its radiation characteristics are measured in PCS, WCDMA, WiBro and S-DMB band(1.750~2.655 GHz). It is shown that the designed antenna has the non-directional pattern in the horizontal plane, the directional pattern in the vertical plane, VSWR less than 1.5 and gain over 1.9 dBi in 1.72~2.82 GHz. From these results, the presented antenna is conformed as a broadband antenna which can be used for PCS, WCDMA, WiBro and S-DMB band.

  • In this papers, we study the characteristics of dual band PIFA(Planar Inverted F antenna) for handy phones using H-type silt in the antenna radiators. Slit types on the antenna radiator vary resonance mechanism of the antenna and affect reactance component of impedance for the antenna. Therefore the antennas resonate at the dual band(cellular -band, Korea-PCS band), the bandwidth, input impedance and radiation patterns of the proposed antenna is affected by the silt length on the radiators. In order to demonstrate the validity of the proposed theory, it is implementation the antenna of the 4 types. From results for the experiment of the implementation antenna, -5 dB bandwidth of return loss is content with the allocated bandwidth of Cellular and Korea-PCS system the gains of the antenna is about -8$\~$ - 1 dB, the radiation patterns for x-polarized or y-polarized are omnidirectional pattern. From above the results of this papers, it is conclude mobile phones antenna for handy phones using this papers results.
