  • In this paper, the spiral antenna with the center frequencies of 315MHz, 433MHz, and 447MHz for RKE system of a vehicle is designed on PCB. The antenna is microstrip line-fed, and applied PIFA concept near the feeding part to easily tune center frequency and input impedance. The PIFA-type spiral antenna with the size of $30mm{\times}20mm$ is designed on printed PCB by considering the effect of circuits and components on PCB, ECU case and vehicle body. Also chip inductor inserted dual-band spiral antenna of 315MHz and 447MHz is designed. We found that the antenna designed on PCB satisfied the antenna specifications through measurement and field test.

  • It is needed to develop an antenna with features of subminiature, light weight and multi-band operation for the variaty services in maritime and industrial fields. The PCB pattern antenna is one of the appropreiate antennas solving these requirements. In this research, the design and fabrication of the PCB pattern antenna operating on the single band of 920 MHz are investigated. The final goal is that the development of the dual band PCB pattern antenna operating on 260 MHz and 920 MHz, which is based on the proposed antenna. It is evident that the performance in the frequencies of 902 MHz, 915 MHz and 928 MHz among of 920 MHz ISM band is better than that in other frequencies. It is also confirmed that the differences of the voltage standing wave ratio, return loss, gain and efficiency between three frequencies are less than 5%. It is expected that the development of communication link of 5-10 km is possible when the induced results are applied into the low power wide area (LPWA) network desinged by the rule of -30 dB sensitivity.

  • This paper proposes a reconfigurable beam-steering antenna using a bended dipole and a loop. The radiation patterns of the two antennas are cancelled or compensated, and headed towards a specific direction when the dipole and loop antenna are combined at a reasonable ratio. The proposed antenna can steer the beam directions by controlling the operation of two artificial switches. The proposed antenna was manufactured on a PCB (FR-4) and a flexible PCB (polyimide). In the case of the antenna that was fabricated on a PCB, the maximum beam directions were $+50^{\circ}$, $0^{\circ}$, and $-50^{\circ}$ in the azimuth direction using the two artificial switches, and the antenna gain was 1.96 dBi to 2.48 dBi in the operation bandwidth of 2.47 GHz to 2.53 GHz. Also, the antenna was fabricated on a flexible PCB and measured under various bending conditions for wearable applications.

  • In this paper, a PCB(Printed Circuit Board) antenna for IMT-2000 is designed and analyzed. The antenna has a helical structure with via-holes and lines on FR-4($\varepsilon$$\sub$${\gamma}$/=4.6 ) PCB, and the type of feeding is GCPW(Grounded Co-Planar Waveguide). Using HFSS of Ansoft, the antenna was designed and the measured results of frequency and radiation characteristic,3 with VSWR<2.0 are satisfied within operating frequency band of 1.920∼2.170 GHz. And it has resonating frequency of 2.045 GHz and a bandwidth of 321 MHz. The radiation gain of the antenna was measured to be -1 dBi.

  • Gap fillar antennas are needed for serving the high quality of DMB through the cellular phone by eliminating the shadow regions among buildings or underground. We implement Quadrifilar Helical Antenna using phase difference with PCB feeding lines without coaxial cables and four impedance matching circuits. It is shown that the antenna characteristics is affected by the size and diameter through the simulation process using MicroWave Studio and it is applied for implementing QHA. Experiment results confirm that the performance can be gained as same as the simulation data by using the phase difference with PCB feeding lines without additional impedance matching circuits.

  • This paper presents the design method of a planar sleeve monopole antenna on PCB, which has wider bandwidth compared to that of the conventional sleeve monopole antenna, by showing the fact that the sleeve of the conventional antenna can be simplified in structure. The designed and fabricated planar sleeve monopole antenna's structure is very simple, with a monopole adjacent to a small square sleeve on FR4 PCB. The antenna shows 46% wider bandwidth compared to the corresponding 3-dimensional one with nearly omni-directional radiation property.

  • In this paper, an experimental investigation for return loss and a software-based prediction for interference level of single-packaged filtering antenna composed of dielectric waveguide filter and PCB(Printed Circuit Board) slot antenna in transceiver module have been carried out with several different feeding structures in millimeter-wave regime. The implementation and embedding method of the existing air-filled waveguide filters working at millimeter-wave frequency on general PCB substrate have been described. In a view of the implementation of each components, the dielectric waveguide embedded in PCB and LTCC(Low Temparature Co-fired Ceramic) substrates has employed the via fences as a replacement with side walls and common ground plane to prevent energy leakage. The characteristics of several prototypes of filtering antenna embedded in PCB substrate are considered by comparing the wideband and transmission characteristics as a function of bent angle of transmission line connecting two components. In addition, as an essential to the packaging of transceiver module working at millimeter-wave, miniaturization technology maintaining the performances of independent components and the important problems caused by integrating and connecting the different components in different layers are described in this paper.

  • In this paper, we analyze the degree of digital noise coupling for Inverted F Antenna (IFA) and Loop Antenna, which are representative types of portable terminal antenna, using characteristic mode. Firstly, the degree of coupling according to the direction of digital signal lines and characteristic mode current of the printed circuit board (PCB) including the antenna is compared and analyzed, and based on this result, the coupling between WiFi antenna and the front camera noise is analyzed. For analysis, the digital signal line and ground line of the FPCB of the camera module are modeled as a loop feeder that excites the characteristic mode of the PCB ground and the change of noise coupling according to the antenna types are analyzed.

  • This paper proposed a method of broadband method of dual polarized dipole antenna for 700 MHz band base station. The proposed antenna has a structure that PCB feeder is mounted on the metallic radiator. The design of radiator and feeder is optimized by using 3D EM simulation. The proposed antenna(bandwidth 31.6 %) is broadened over 12.2 % through the lower frequency band than reference antenna(bandwidth 19.4 %), however the size is not increased. Measured results of S-parameters, radiation patterns, and gain have a good agreement with simulation ones.

  • In this paper, we studied characteristics of the bent antenna febricated on Flexible-PCB. Flexible-PCB consisting of a polyimide has dielectric constant 3.5, thickness 0.125 mm. Proposed antennas which operates at Bluetooth band are a rectangular loop antenna and a loop antenna with inverted-L type stub. We compared the input matching and radiation characteristics of the proposed antennas under eight kinds of bending conditions.
