  • An open architecture manufacturing strategy intends to integrate manufacturing components on a single platform so that a particular component can be easily added and/or replaced. Therefore, the control scheme based upon the open architecture concept is hardware-independent. In this paper, a modular and object oriented approach for a PC-based open robot control system is investigated. A standard reference model for robot systems, which consists of three modules; hardware module, operating system module, and application software module, is first proposed. Then, a PC-based Open Robot Controller(PC-ORC), which can reconfigure robot control systems in various production environments, is developed. The PC-ORC is built upon the object-oriented method, and allows an easy implementation and modification of various modules. The PC-ORC consists of basic softwares, application objects, and additional hardware device on the PC Platform. The application objects are: sequencer, computation unit, servo control, ancillary equipment, external sensor control, and so on. In order to demonstrate the applicability of the PC-ORC, the proposed PC-ORC configuration is applied to an industrial SCARA robot system.

  • The existing fixed telematics facilities for car were restricting of efficiency, utilization, communication, possibility, so it become disconnected with reality in the domestic and foreign market within thy near future, like as the case of 'car-phone'. It is too difficult to make a various business model on the restrict basis. To solve these problems, We suggested Tablet PC system as a new mobile telematics platform. The telematics platform based on the Tablet PC realize the perfect office, because it shows an excellent portability, high power and extension, various input equipment, and environment of communication in the car. To realize this concreteness, it needs a proper marketing strategy for a new business model. For this purpose, We analyzed the structure of industry, selected a proper target market, and established the strategy of marketing. Additionally, We proposed new business models ; particularly Portal site, Car-Home network, Car Software Tuning, and T-Vaccine(Intelligent Car Inspection System). These are made possible by the only Tablet PC platform.

Data Control Methods of Online Application based on Multi-Platform (멀티 플랫폼 기반 온라인 응용의 데이터 제어 기법)

  • Several multi-user online applications which are operated by the existing fixed terminals(PC) are being changed into online application based on multi-platform operated by the several PC, PDA and mobile phones to perform concurrent works recently. The contents of current online application based multi-platform are, however, very unsophisticated because the applications don't consider the simultaneous accesses of shared data by multi-user and also the asymmetry of computing power and network bandwidth among each client. This paper proposed the methods of consistency control based on multi-platform, update propagation protocols among diverse clients, object management techniques which take the characteristics of mobile clients into account. We also implemented a chatting application based on multi-platform and it showed the proposed methods perform well.

This paper proposed the infrastructure for network applications based on multi-platform. Moreover, we implemented a chatting application based on multi-platform and it showed the proposed infrastructure and methods perform well.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a methodology to effectively produce the e-learning contents in two platform types of PC based and mobile based platforms. Currently, the compatibility problem of flash technology widely used in the e-learning content production of existing PC based platform not supporting flash in some mobile platforms is being created while the condition of accompanying inconvenience in learning due to small screen and difference of input interface is being created in case of using the contents for PC even in case of the mobile platforms in which flash is supported. Considering this situation, this study is presenting a content development methodology that can provide services in both platform types based on standard technologies such as HTML 5. In conclusion, the methodology proposed in this study separates the content and the view of learning contents while supporting to enable content implementation using various forms of views based on the content database that has been constructed to show very efficiently characteristics in the content reuse and the multi platform support categories.

  • In this paper, we design a mobile phone based remote control system for PC using SKT WPAN platform and compare the presented platform with that of Windows Mobile. The usability of WPAN is one of the main issues which should be considered for the ubiquitous services. For easy development and easy use of the WPAN applications, SKT WPAN platform provides abstract WPAN APIs and WPAN Application Manager for ubiquitous services. In this paper, we implement a remote control application using the WPAN platform and show the validity of the platform comparing with other platforms. In the implemented application, we use WPAN abstract APIs on the mobile phone side and a general Bluetooth APIs on the PC for a connection between phone and PC. Through the implementation and comparison, we show that the WPAN application can be easily developed with WPAN platform.

  • Most of embedded systems have been developed practically based on the PC platform equipped with Intel x86 CPU since it is able to reduce the total time for product development and improve the reliability of product by making use of a variety of solutions developed for a long time in the PC environment. Also, embedded systems based on PC-platform mainly use a high-capacity hard disk as data storage device for applications intending to store multimedia data. Recently, while the capacity of hard disk is increasing rapidly, the start-up ready time of hard disk is growing longer more than 30 seconds. The lengthened start-up ready time may delay the booting time of embedded system seriously, weighting users down with inconvenience. This paper proposes the refined system architecture and the dynamic IDE device probing method for fast booting of linux kernel in the embedded system based on PC platform with high-capacity hard disks, and the performance of proposed methods is evaluated and presented.

  • 본 논문은 Platform 기반의 PEBB(Power Electronics Building Block)을 이용한 계통연계형 에너지저장시스템(ESS) PCS의 개발전략과 효율적인 운용 방법에 대해 제안한다. Platform Design이란 표준제조 공정을 통해 다양한 제품을 만들어 내는 기술을 뜻한다. 이 Platform으로 생산되는 Modular PEBB(Power Electronics Building Block)을 이용하여 다양한 용량대의 제품에 대응할 수 있으며, 이를 통해 125kW에서부터 2MW제품까지 병렬확장이 가능하다. PCS의 Platform화로 시스템 용량 확장이 용이하며, 대량 생산이 가능하기 때문에 비용 측면에서의 장점이 있다. 그리고 부분 운전을 통해 운영 효율 향상과 PCS 수명을 늘릴 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 Platform 기반의 PCS의 물리적 및 제어적 구조를 설명하고, 개발전략의 방법에 대해 소개하고자 한다.

Big data platform for health monitoring systems of multiple bridges

  • At present, many machine leaning and data mining methods are used for analyzing and predicting structural response characteristics. However, the platform that combines big data analysis methods with online and offline analysis modules has not been used in actual projects. This work is dedicated to developing a multifunctional Hadoop-Spark big data platform for bridges to monitor and evaluate the serviceability based on structural health monitoring system. It realizes rapid processing, analysis and storage of collected health monitoring data. The platform contains offline computing and online analysis modules, using Hadoop-Spark environment. Hadoop provides the overall framework and storage subsystem for big data platform, while Spark is used for online computing. Finally, the big data Hadoop-Spark platform computational performance is verified through several actual analysis tasks. Experiments show the Hadoop-Spark big data platform has good fault tolerance, scalability and online analysis performance. It can meet the daily analysis requirements of 5s/time for one bridge and 40s/time for 100 bridges.

  • In this paper we introduce the implementation of PC-based receiver platform to verify T-DMB middleware APIs. Recently, generic APIs in T-DMB middleware (called DMB MATE API) have been designed to enable inter-operable applications to be downloaded from both the broadcast and telecommunication networks in advance and to be executed on T-DMB receivers from any manufacturers. We also verify the designed MATE API through execution of several applications at the PC-based receiver. In future, the T-DMB middleware verified in PC can be implemented at various receivers such as T-DMB phone and portable T-DMB receiver.
