  • This is a preliminary study on the development of precast beam-column joints for dry construction methodology. Precast beam column joints with thru-connectors (BCJ_TC) using high strength bars or PS strands were developed and their seismic performance including strength degradation, stiffness degradation and energy dissipation capacity was experimentally evaluated. Test results showed that compressive failures at the end blocks of PC beam members occurred dominantly while PC columns including panel zones were free from any damage. However, the connections confined with CFRP at the end block showed much improved seismic performance than that of the unconfined connections. Connections with neoprene pad fillers between beam and column interfaces were better than the other connections in all the seismic performances except initial stiffness. To improve the seismic performances of BCJ_TC, compressive strength of the concrete at the end block need to be increased to compensate for the additional compressive stresses due to unbonded connectors and deformation of connectors should be controlled respectively.

  • The concern about hollow core PC slab has been increased to improve the workability during a construction of building by reducing self weight of structural members. In this manner, recently, TRS (Tripple Ribs Slab) was developed as a new type of half PC slab system. TRS member consists of the triple webs and the bottom flange prestressed by strands. The slab system is completed by casting of topping concrete on the TRS after filling styrofoam between the webs. This paper, presents a flexural experiment to investigate the flexural capacity of the TRS. Five full scale TRS members were made and tested under simple support condition to be failed by flexure and their strength was evaluated by code equations; the variables in the test are the depth and the presence of topping or raised spot formed when slip-forming. In addition, a nonlinear sectional analysis was performed for the specimens and the result was compared with the test results. From the study, it was found that the TRS has enough flexural strength and ductility to resist the design loads and its strength can be suitably predicted by using code equations. The raised spot did not affect the strength so that the spot need not to be removed by doing additional work. For the more accurate prediction of TRS's flexural behavior by using nonlinear sectional analysis, it is recommended to consider the concrete's brittle property due to slip-forming process in the modeling.

  • The genetic diversity among Korean cyanobacteria was assessed by restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP) analysis of PCR products from the phycocyanin locus. Strains of all the genera tested were successfully amplified, and the size of amplified fragments was approximately 700bp. The restriction patterns generated by AluI, MspI, and HaeIII were conserved for strains within each of genera studied and were specific to the genus level. Intrageneric delineation of strains was revealed by the enzyme, CfoI for members of genera Anabeana and Synechocystis. Phenogram derived from the different RFLP patterns revealed a coherent cluster among Anabeana, Chlorogloea, and Synechocystis strains. PC-RFLP methods provided useful tools for classification of cyanobacteria.

  • The purpose of the study is discovering the effects of different VR devices in learning. For this purpose, this study conducted experiments in HMD and Tablet PC learning environments to analyze differences in device characteristics according to technological evolution. In the experimentation, 37 test subject members were involved and Talklish program, English education service, were used as a learning content. The results showed that the learning method using HMD VR has a higher level of immersion, social consciousness, and learning motivation than Tablet PC methods.

  • Purpose: In this paper, based on this background, the main purpose of studying the behavior of concrete slab reinforced with new material fiber in impact loading is investigated by AFRP using aluminum fiber. Results: Research on the use of new materials as reinforcing materials for concrete members has been carried out in many fields such as flexural and shear tests under static loading, fatigue loading under cyclic loading, and application to PC beams. However, And the issue of plate elements is still at a basic stage. Conclusion: In this paper, the dynamic behavior of reinforced concrete slabs is investigated by using AFRP rod reinforced with aluminum fiber.

  • In this study, concrete composite beams were tested under two-point loading to evaluate horizontal shear strength. The test variables were a type of composite members (PC+RC, PSC+RC, SFRC+RC), area ratio of high-strength (60MPa) to low-strength concrete (24 MPa), and transverse reinforcement ratio. The test results showed that the contribution of transverse reinforcements and interface conditions had influence on horizontal shear strength. Existing and previous test results were classified according to test methods and the interface conditions and were compared with the predictions of current design codes. On the basis of test results, an improved design method was proposed.

  • Due to the improvement of living standards and avoidance of the 3D industry, it is difficult to find young and competent domestic workers at construction sites, and most foreign workers are contributing to the replacement, but the quality is still deteriorating due to lack of skilled workers and aging. Precast method is a method that make members in factory and assembles them on site, which can be expected to improve labor force and quality. This study is intended to provide basic data for the development of hang-type PC beams that can be applied to the determination of the field application of developed PC beams. The U-type connecting material is installed on both ends of the hang-up PC beam, and the role of the U-type connecting material is very important because it is a simple construction method through the U-type connecting material. In addition, the performance of the U-type connecting material will determine the performance of the hang-type PC beam as the final destruction occurs in the hang-type PC beam. The material properties of U-type connecting material were identified through structural experiments, and the end test corresponding to the partial experiment was conducted based on the material test results identified. Finally, the final design value of PC beams was proposed through structural experiments for application to the site.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a new connection method between steel beams and PC columns known as SL connectors. Composite moment frames consisting of PC columns (or composite columns) and steel beams make the best use of advantages of both concrete and steel materials. However, the connection between two members of different materials can be complex and/or increase the fabrication costs significantly. The concept of SL connectors is based on using wedges and the emphasis is on a self-locking (SL) feature. SL connectors are easy to install and provide better seismic performance compared to conventional connections. To evaluate the seismic performance of the steel beam-to-PC column joints with SL connectors, cyclic load tests were conducted. Test result showed that steel beam-to-concrete column joint with SL connectors was able to provide sufficient performance for use in seismic resistant moment frames.

  • Lysolipids such as lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC), sphingosylphosphorylcholine (S PC), galactosylsphingosine (psychosine) have been matched as ligands for OGR1-subfamily G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR), consisted of OGR1, GPR4, G2A, and TDAG8. Recently, those members of GPCRS have been reported as proton-sensing GPCRs. We used Jurkat T cells, which express four members of OGR1 subfamily GPCRs endogenously to investigate effects of proton on lysolipid-induced several cellular events. We found no significant effect of proton on the lysolipid-induced $Ca^{2+}$ increase and ROS production in Jurkat T cells. Further investigation is necessary to clarify the relationship of lysolipid and proton on the OGR1-subfamily GPCRs.

  • Green Frame is a column-beam structure built by steel frame joints embedded in the columns and beams. Here, the steel frame embedded in the columns and beams is not a standardized product, instead it needs to be order-produced. The quantity for each steel frame size should be calculated to estimate the quantity of steel frames to be manufactured. However, it is highly time-consuming and requires a lot of effort in calculating the quantity of steel frames, for there are a wide range of steel frame types that are embedded in the columns and beams. To solve this problem, the study proposes an algorithm for calculation of the amount of steel frames with ease and promptness. When a program is developed using the algorithm proposed in the study in connection to the information on precast concrete members prepared in the design phase, it is anticipated that the manpower required as well as the manufacturing time will be decreased.
