  • This study was performed to establish PC-based Urban Infrastructure Information System(UIIS) using GPS and TotalStation as an alternative to UNIX-based UIIS. After carryig out this study, the following conclusions were derived: PC-based UIIS costs less time and money than UNIX-based UIIS. The coordinates of the control point of the site were obtained using DGPS, then based on this point, locational data were obtained using RTK GPS and TotalStation in the site with realtime data capture to enhance the accuracy of locational data. And image data were also entered into database together with the text data. So, the multimedia database is possible in UIIS.

  • According to the active use of internet the need for security in various environment is being emphasized. Moreover with the broad use of Messenger on PC and P2P applications. the security and management of individual hosts on internet became very important issues. Therefore in this paper we propose the design and implementation of a host based access control system for the hosts on internet including window based PC which provides access control, information on packets, and record and monitoring of log files.

  • In this paper, we propose a client server based distributed/parallel system to effectively visualize huge geographic data. The system consists of a web-based client GUI program and a distributed/parallel server program which runs on multiple PC clusters. To make the client program run on mobile devices as well as PCs, the graphical user interface has been designed by using JOGL, the java-based OpenGL graphics library, and sending the information about current available memory space and maximum display resolution the server can minimize the amount of tasks. PC clusters used to play the role of the server access requested geographic data from distributed disks, and properly re-sample them, then send the results back to the client. To minimize the latency happened in repeatedly access the distributed stored geography data, cache data structures have been maintained in both every nodes of the server and the client.

  • Industrial robots have been usually controlled using text-based programming languages provided by each manufacturer with its button-based TP(Teaching Pendent) terminal. Unfortunately, when we consider that people who manipulate TPs in manufacturing sites are mostly unskilled with no background knowledge about computer programming, these text-based programming languages using button-based interaction on manufacturing sites are too difficult for them to learn and use. In order to overcome the weaknesses of the text-based programming language, we propose a visual programming language that can be easily used on gesture-enabled devices. Especially, in our visual programming environment, each command is represented as a block and robots are controlled by stacking those blocks using drag-and-drop gestures, which is easily learnable even by beginners. In this paper, we utilize a widely-spread device, Tablet PC as the gesture-enabled TP. Considering that Tablet PC has limited display space in contrast to PC environments, we designed different kinds of sets of command blocks and conducted user tests. Based on the experiment results, we propose an effective set of command blocks for Tablet PC environment.

Design and Implementation of an SCI-Based Network Cache Coherent NUMA System for High-Performance PC Clustering (고성능 PC 클러스터 링을 위한 SCI 기반 Network Cache Coherent NUMA 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • It is extremely important to minimize network access time in constructing a high-performance PC cluster system. For PC cluster systems, it is possible to reduce network access time by maintaining network cache in each cluster node. This paper presents a Network Cache Coherent NUMA (NCC-NUMA) system to utilize network cache by locating shared memory on the PCI bus, and the NCC-NUMA card which is core module of the NCC-NUMA system is developed. The NCC-NUMA card is directly plugged into the PCI slot of each node, and contains shared memory, network cache, shared memory control module and network control module. The network cache is maintained for the shared memory on the PCI bus of cluster nodes. The coherency mechanism between the network cache and the shared memory is based on the IEEE SCI standard. According to the SPLASH-2 benchmark experiments, the NCC-NUMA system showed improvements of 56% compared with an SCI-based cluster without network cache.

  • A construction standard production rates system for the factory built and on-site installation phases of OSC (Off-Site Construction)-based precast concrete (PC) structures in apartment buildings was recently proposed to establish an objective cost standard (Lee et al., 2021). In addition, the Korean government has taken steps to improve the institutional foundation for the systematic calculation of PC construction costs such as revising construction standard production rates for major components that can be applied to the on-site installation phase of PC method. In this study, we analyzed the results of a field survey of apartment building PC structures and collected expert opinions to develop factory-built and on-site installation standard production rates that can be applied to apartment building PC method. We also propose directions for improving the standard production rates so that they can be applied to the site and component of apartment buildings by comparing them with the current standard production rates. This study also derived the cost characteristics and cost reduction measures of PC construction by calculating the construction costs using the developed rates and comparing the construction costs with the RC methods of apartment buildings of the same scale. The construction standard production rates for PC construction derived in this study are expected to contribute to the spread of PC construction by ensuring the objectivity and consistency of the results of PC methods cost estimation.

  • OTP(One Time Password) is a user authentication using secure mechanism to authenticate each other in a way to generate a password, an attacker could intercept the password to masquerade as legitimate users is a way to prevent attacks. The OTP can be implemented as H/W or S/W. Token and card type OTP, implemented as H/W, is difficult to popularize because of having problem with deployment and usability. As a way to replace it implemented as S/W on Mobile or PC is introduced. However, S/W products can be target of malicious attacks if S/W products have vulnerability of implementation. In fact, FSA said the OTP implemented on a mobile have vulnerability of implementation. However, the OTP implemented on a PC have no case about analysis of vulnerability. So, in this paper derive security review and vulnerabilities analysis of implemented on a PC.

Fast Booting of Linux Kernel using Dynamic IDE Device Probing Scheme (동적 IDE 장치 검사 기법을 이용한 리눅스 커널의 빠른 부팅)

  • Most of embedded systems have been developed practically based on the PC platform equipped with Intel x86 CPU since it is able to reduce the total time for product development and improve the reliability of product by making use of a variety of solutions developed for a long time in the PC environment. Also, embedded systems based on PC-platform mainly use a high-capacity hard disk as data storage device for applications intending to store multimedia data. Recently, while the capacity of hard disk is increasing rapidly, the start-up ready time of hard disk is growing longer more than 30 seconds. The lengthened start-up ready time may delay the booting time of embedded system seriously, weighting users down with inconvenience. This paper proposes the refined system architecture and the dynamic IDE device probing method for fast booting of linux kernel in the embedded system based on PC platform with high-capacity hard disks, and the performance of proposed methods is evaluated and presented.

  • 그리드 환경에서 어플리케이션 컨텐츠는 특정한 문제 해결을 위한 실질적인 작업이며, 그리드 자원에 분산 배포 되고 서로 연관되어 실행되기 때문에 협업 환경을 구성하는 것은 매우 중요한 부분이다. 그리고 대부분의 협업은 워크플로우를 통하여 구체화 되고, 그리드 환경에서 협업 처리를 위한 미들웨어로는 Globus toolkit이 대표적이다. 하지만 이 미들웨어는 그리드 환경 구축을 위한 기본 서비스들만을 제공하고, 협업을 할 수 있는 워크풀로우 생성, 작업 스케줄링, 어플리케이션 컨텐츠 관리 같은 부분은 적용 되지 않는다. 또한 Globus Toolkit은 대형화된 그리드 커뮤니티 구성에는 적합하나, 소규모 PC 기반에는 부적합하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 PC 기반 그리드 환경에서 소규모 협업 처리에 효율적인 어플리케이션 서비스 시스템을 제안한다. 어플리케이션 컨텐츠 배포, PC기반으로 구성된 자원관리등의 역할을 통해 효율적인 협업 환경을 지원한다. 또한 워크풀로우는 어플리케이션 컨탠츠 연관관계 사전을 만들어 협업에 필요한 어플리케이션 컨탠츠간의 정보 및 연관 관계를 표현한다.
