The Shading Effect and Wind Velocity Variation of Greenhouse with Fan & Pad System (FAN & PAD시스템 온실의 풍속변화 및 차광효과)

  • 온실용 FAN & PAD 시스템의 설계, 시공 및 운용에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하고자 FAN & PAD 온실의 내부풍속변화와 차광에 따른 냉방성능을 실험적으로 분석한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. FAN & PAD 시스템 온실의 내부풍속은 지면높이 80cm에서는 0.35㎧-1.25㎧ 범위에서 불규칙한 변화를 보였으며, 지면높이 210cm에서는 0.63㎧-1.06㎧ 범위에서 다소 규칙적인 변화를 보였다. 그리고, PAD측 풍속은 지면높이 80cm에서는 평균 0.2㎧, 지면높이 210cm에서는 평균 1.16㎧로 규칙적인 변화를 보였다. 2. 주간(10:00-18:00)에 외기온이 28.2$^{\circ}C$-35.1$^{\circ}C$(평균 31.5$^{\circ}C$)범위에서 변화할 때 FAN & PAD 온실의 내부온도는 외기온보다 평균 2.4$^{\circ}C$-2.7$^{\circ}C$정도 낮게 나타났으며 무차광시 냉방효과가 최고 3.2$^{\circ}C$ 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • iPad는 Apple사가 만든 태블릿 PC 또는 이와 유사한 모바일 디바이스로, iPhone의 기능에 부가하여 iWorks, iBooks, iAd라는 킬러앱을 장착함으로써 모바일 산업 및 기존 산업들의 생산-유통-소비 구조에 큰 변화를 몰고 올 것으로 전망된다. 주요 기관별 2010년 판매 전망이 300~1,000만 대 사이로 다양한 가운데, iPad는 출시 28일 만에 100만 대의 판매를 돌파하면서 Apple사의 i-시리즈 중 가장 빠른 초기 판매속도를 보이고 있다. 그러나 국내에서는 iPad의 시장확산 속도와 영향력이 해외에서만큼 파괴적이지는 않을 것으로 예상된다. 이는 우리나라 모바일 디바이스 이용 환경/문화가 북미-유럽과 다르고, 대기업 중심의 탄탄한 모바일 단말 제조-유통 구조가 구축되어 있으며, 국내에서 iPhone이 시장점유율 변화에 미친 영향력이 미비했다는 점으로 설명할 수 있겠다. 한편, iPad 열풍에 대한 국내 IT 업체들의 대응방안으로는 대안 소프트웨어 플랫폼을 적극 개발하는 전략, Apple사의 플랫폼 주도권을 인정하고 콘텐츠 및 애플리케이션 개발에 주력하는 전략, 그리고 iPad를 모방한 Me-too 제품을 출시하는 전략 등을 고려할 수 있겠다.

Development of a curling pad performance test system to support Korea curling team (국가대표 컬링 대표팀 지원을 위한 컬링 패드 성능 시험 시스템 개발)

  • In this study, a test system which can test performance of curling pad was developed to support Korea curling team. The developed system consists of a water tank, a mechanical pad driving system that can perform sweeping movement using a curling pad on surface of ice made by the water tank, and temperature sensors monitoring ice and air temperatures. To control the temperature of ice and humidity/temperature of air around the ice, all system are installed in a chamber that can isolate the developed system from external environment. Eight kinds of curling pads were tested using the developed system. Test result showed that each curling pad revealed different rate of ice temperature increasing. The pad with the highest rate of ice temperature rising was found to be the same as the most preferred pad by the athletes. Therefore, it was confirmed that the method of measuring change of ice temperature by the sweeping performed in this study is an effective method to test the performance of the pad.

  • The horizontal thermal storage tank with heat pipe which is suitable for the sensible heat storage system is able to store a hot water from the heat source such as heating pad efficiently and to supply a hot water to load rapidly. And arrangement of heating pad play an important role in thermal flow and thermal storage efficiency. In this experiments, number of heating pad is ranged from three, five and nine, and when there is no change on number of heating pad, arrangements are two types of concentration-type and dispersion-type. Strong entrainment take place in the case of concentration-type of heating pad, and rapid temperature rise(${\Delta}{\doteqdot}1.6{\sim}3.2^{\circ}C$) in the tank is obtainable on the concentration-type than dispersion-type. In the constant number of heating pad, the concentration-type has the higher efficiency with about $5{\sim}6%$ than the dispersion-type Therefore, concentration-type of heating pad is an efficient design in constant number of heating pad.

A Study on the Reactivity Effect due to Expansion of Diagrid and Pad (Diagram와 Pad의 팽창에 의한 반응도 효과에 대한 연구)

  • With the help of the nuclear computational system for a large LMFBR (KAERI-26 group cross section library/1DX/2DB), the reactivity coefficients for the diagrid expansion and the pad expansion at the beginning of cycle of the equilibrium core of SUPER-PHENIX I are calculated and reviewed. the core is described using R-Z geometry model, and a two-dimensional multigroup diffusion theory is used. For reference cases, reactivity calculations for radial and axial uniform expansion are performed, and also calculated are reactivity variations due to changes in material density and core volume. The reactivity coefficient for the diagrid expansion is calculated to be -0.553pcm/mil. The temperature coefficient corresponding to the above value is -1.0766pcm/$^{\circ}C$ and is well in accord with the French datum of -1.09pcm/$^{\circ}C$ within 1.2% difference. With the use of 4he calculational method for the diagrid expansion effect, reactivity calculations for the pad expansion bringing about nonuniform expansion are performed, which show that the calculational method is very useful in the analysis of the pad expansion effect. The reactivity coefficients for the pad expansion are calculated to be -0.2743 pcm/mil and -0.2786pcm1mi1 for the averaged expansion model and for the integrated pancake model, respectively. Under the assumption of the free expanding core the temperature reactivity coefficients for each model are obtained to be -0.5766pcm/$^{\circ}C$ and -0.5858pcm/$^{\circ}C$, both of which agree with the French datum of -0.574pcm/$^{\circ}C$ within 2% difference.

Effects of Pad Number on the Static Performances of Large Tilting Pad Journal Bearings (패드 수의 변화가 대형 틸팅패드 저어널 베어링의 정특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In this paper, thermohydrodynamic characteristics of large tilting pad journal bearings which have $3\~8$ tilting pads were numerically analyzed. The turbulent lubrication equation and the energy equation were solved. The regime of operation of this bearing is laminar, turbulent and transitional. Also viscosity of working fluid was considered as function of only temperature and inlet pressure build-up was considered. Numerical results for a large tilting pad journal bearing showed pressure distribution, temperature distribution, eccentricity ratio, and friction torque. The effects of pad number on the static performances of a large tilting pad journal bearing are discussed.

  • A wheel force becomes large as increasing the stiffness of rail-pad, and it accelerates the deterioration of track, and it leads the maintenance cost rising. So, it is required to determine an appropriate replacement period for rail-pad. As a preliminary study to determine it, a numerical analysis was conducted to investigate the influence on a track behavior by the hardening of rail-pad. From the analysis, one knows that the dynamic wheel force is vary depend on the stiffness of rail-pad and the running speed of vehicle, the displacement and acceleration of rail is decreasing as increasing stiffness of rail-pad, and the displacement and acceleration increased in proportion to the rail-pad stiffness increasing.

  • As the suction pad-supporting bike carrier attached to a car may be subject to an excessive dynamic load due to random vibrations and centrifugal forces during driving, its structural safety is of great concern. To examine this, the finite-element method with a fluid-structure interaction should be used because the pressure on the pad bottom is changed in real time according to the fluctuations of the force or the moment applied on the pad. This method, however, has high computing costs in terms of modeling efforts and software expense. Moreover, the accuracy of computation is not easily guaranteed. Therefore, a new method combining the experiment and computation is proposed in this paper: the bottom pressure and contact area of the pad under varying loads was measured in real time and the acquired data are then used in the nonlinear elastic finite-element calculations. The computational and experimental results obtained with the product under development showed that the safety margin of the pad under the axial loading is relatively sufficient, whereas with an excessive rotational loading, the pad is vulnerable to separation or a local surface damage; hence, the safety margin may not be secured. The predicted contact behavior under the variation of the magnitude and type of the loading were in good agreement with the one from the experiment. The proposed analysis method in this study could be used in the design of similar vacuum pad systems.

A Study on Pad Profile Variation using Kinematical Analysis on Swing Arm Conditioner (스윙 암 컨디셔너의 기구학적 해석을 통한 CMP 패드 프로파일 변화에 관한 연구)

  • There are many factors to affect polishing performance normally in chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process. One of the factors is a pad profile. A pad profile has not been considered as a significant factor. However, a pad profile is easily changed by conditioning process in CMP, and then changed pad profile affects polishing performance. Therefore, understanding how the pad profile is changed by conditioning process is very important. In this paper, through the simulation based on kinematic analysis, the variation of the pad profile was described in accordance with difference condition of conditioning process. A swing-arm type conditioner was applied in this simulation. A swing-arm type conditioner plays a role of generating asperities on pad surface. The conditions of conditioing process to get uniform removal were also investigated by comparing the simulation with the experiment.

A Behavior Analysis of HSR Concrete Slab Track under Variety of Rail Pad Static Stiffness on Fatigue Effect (피로효과를 고려한 레일패드의 정적스프링계수 변화에 따른 콘크리트 슬래브 제도의 거동분석)

  • The major effective of this study is to investigate the fatigue effects of rail pad on High Speed Railway with concrete slab track system. It analyzed the mechanical behaviors of HSR concrete slab track with applying rail pad stiffness based on fatigue effect (hardening and increasing stiffness) on the 3-dimensional FE analysis and laboratory test for static & dynamic characteristics. As a result, the hardening of rail pad due to fatigue loading condition are negative effect for the static & dynamic response of concrete stab track which is before act on fatigue effect. The analytical and experimental study are carried out to investigate rail pad on fatigue effected increase vertical acceleration and stress and decrease suitable deflection on slab track. And rail pad based on fatigue effect induced dynamic maximum stresses, the increase of damage of slab track is predicted by adopting fatigue effected rail pad. after due consideration. The servicing HSR concrete slab track with resilient track system has need of the reasonable determination after due consideration fatigue effect of rail pad stiffness which could be reducing the effect of static and dynamic behavior that degradation phenomenon of structure by an unusual response characteristic and a drop durability.
