  • In Long Term Evolution (LTE) cellular networks, the transmit power control (TPC) mechanism consists of two parts: the open loop (OL) and closed loop. Most cellular networks consider OL/TPC because of its simple implementation and low operation cost. The analysis of OL/TPC parameters is essential for efficient resource management from the cellular operator's viewpoint. In this work, the impact of the OL/TPC parameters is investigated for homogeneous small cells and heterogeneous small-cell/macrocell network environments. A mathematical model is derived to compute the transmit power at the user equipment, the received power at the eNodeB, the interference in the network, and the received signal-to-interference ratio. Using the analytical platform, the effects of the OL/TPC parameters on the system performance in LTE networks are investigated. Numerical results show that, in order to achieve the best performance, it is appropriate to choose ${\alpha}_{small}=1$ and $P_{o-small}=-100dBm$ in a homogenous small-cell network. Further, the selections of ${\alpha}_{small}=1$ and $P_{o-small}=-100dBm$ in the small cells and ${\alpha}_{macro}=0.8$ and $P_{o-macro}=-100dBm$ in the macrocells seem to be suitable for heterogeneous network deployment.

  • In this paper, a new fully digital control method for single-phase UPS inverter, which is based on the double control loop such as the outer voltage control loop and inner current control loop, is proposed. The inner current control loop is designed and implemented in the form of internal model control and takes the presence of computational time-delay into account. Therefore, this method provides an overshoot-free reference-to-output response. In the proposed scheme, the outer voltage control loop employing P controller with resonance model implemented by a DSP is introduced. The proposed resonance model has an infinite gain at resonant frequency, and it exhibits a function similar to an integrator for AC component. Thus the outer voltage control loop causes no steady state error as regard to both magnitude and phase. The effectiveness of the proposed control system has been demonstrated by the simulation and experimental results respectively.

  • This study was performed to analyze the sequence variations of mtDNA D-loop and their effects on milk in Hanwoo(Korean cattle). The resulting sequences were compared with previously published sequences for other cattle breeds (GenBank JOI394). The Polymerase Chain Reaction was performed to amplify a total of 964 bp between nucleotide 15758 and 383 within D-loop region of mtDNA using specific primers. Twenty polymorphic sites by nucleotide substitution were found in mtDNA D-loop region of Hanwoo. The frequencies of positions at 8, 169, 16042, 16051, 16057, 16093, 16119, 16122, 16209, 16255 and 16302 nt with high levels of sequence polymorphism were 0.150, 0.950, 0.085, 0.138, 0.106, 0.085, 0.138, 0.212, 0.085, 0.148 and 0.180, respectively. The substitution effect at 16119(p<0.1) and 16185(p< 0.05) nt was found significant on milk production. Polymorphism of mtDNA sequence in D-Ioop region could be useful for the analysis of cytoplasmic genetic variation and associations with the other economically important traits and maternal lineage analysis in Hanwoo.

  • Aim: To compare recurrence rates of large loop excision of the transformation zone (LLETZ) with those of contour-loop excision of the transformation zone (C-LETZ) in the management of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). Materials and Methods: The medical records of 177 patients treated consecutively by LLETZ and C-LETZ for CIN at Rajavithi Hospital between 2006 and 2009 were retrospectively reviewed. Results: Of the 87 women in the C-LETZ group, 2 cases (2.30%) had recurrence compared with 13 cases (14.4%) of the 90 women in the LLETZ group, the higher recurrence rate in the latter being statistically significant (p<0.05). Median times of follow up in the C-LETZ and LLETZ groups were 12 months and 14 months respectively (p>0.05). The C-LETZ group showed less intraoperative bleeding compared to the LLETZ group, but the rate of achievement of single specimens and positive margins were similar in the two groups. Conclusions: The present study demonstrated the superiority of C-LETZ over LLETZ in terms of efficacy; C-LLETZ is associated with a lower recurrence rate and also carries a smaller risk of intraoperative bleeding than LLETZ. The rotating technique still has a potential role in treating precancerous lesions of the cervix.

  • Objective : To evaluate a new posterior atlantoaxial fixation technique using a nitinol shape memory loop as a simple method that avoids the risk of vertebral artery or nerve injury. Methods : We retrospectively evaluated 14 patients with atlantoaxial instability who had undergone posterior C1-2 fusion using a nitinol shape memory loop. The success of fusion was determined clinically and radiologically. We reviewed patients' neurologic outcomes, neck disability index (NDI), solid bone fusion on cervical spine films, changes in posterior atlantodental interval (PADI), and surgical complications. Results : Solid bone fusion was documented radiologically in all cases, and PADI increased after surgery (p<0.05). All patients remained neurologically intact and showed improvement in NDI score (p<0.05). There were no surgical complications such as neural tissue or vertebral artery injury or instrument failure in the follow-up period. Conclusion : Posterior C1-2 fixation with a nitinol shape memory loop is a simple, less technically demanding method compared to the conventional technique and may avoid the instrument-related complications of posterior C1-2 screw and rod fixation. We introduce this technique as one of the treatment options for atlantoaxial instability.

  • Higher order structure of 5S rRNA isolated from Xanthomonas celebensis was examined using angiogenic extracted from milk. Angiogenin cleaved exclusively 3' P-O bonds on the far sides of pyrimidines in the single-stranded sequences of 5S rRNA. Whereas angiogenin acted only on the loop d of 5S rRNA at pH 7.0 in the presence of 10 mM $Mg^{2+}$, it acted on all the loops (a, b, c and d) except loop e in the absence of $Mg^{2+}$. In the absence of $Mg^{2+}$, bonds $U_{74}$-$G_{75}$, $U_{77}$-$A_{78}$ and $U_{103}$-$A_{104}$ were highly susceptible to the action of angiogenin both at pH 7.0 and at pH 3.5. On the other hand, at pH 3.5 in the absence of $Mg^{2+}$ angiogenin strongly cleaved the bond $C_{17}$-$G_{18}$ of loop a and the bond $U_{55}$-$G_{56}$ of loop b. The results lead us to the following conclusion. First, angiogenin can be used as one of the probes for the tertiary structure analysis of 5S rRNA. Second, the structure of loop d of 5S rRNA is variable depending on the concentrations of $Mg^{2+}$ and $H^{1+}$.

  • In this paper, a constant output power supply system for ozonizer is proposed to remove the noise of ozonizer and control the output of ozonizer using feedback control. The proposed system is based on the rouble control loop such as the outer voltage control loop and inner current control loop. In the proposed system overshoots and oscillations due to the computation time-delay are compensated by explicit incorporation of the time-delay in the current control loop transfer function. The inner current control loop is adopted by an internal model controller. The internal model controller is designed to a second order deadbeat reference-to-output response which means that its response reaches the reference in two sampling time including computational time-delays. The outer voltage control loop employing P-Resonance controller is proposed. The resonance controller has an infinite gain at resonant frequency, and the resonant frequency is set to the fundamental frequency of the reference voltage in this paper. Thus the outer voltage control loop causes no steady state error as regard to both magnitude and phase. The effectiveness of the proposed control system has been verified by the experimental results.

  • This paper presents a reference-less dual loop clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit that supports a data rate of 2.496 Gb/s for the mobile industry processor interface (MIPI) M-PHY. An adaptive loop bandwidth scheme is used to implement the fast lock time maintaining a low time jitter. To this scheme, the proposed CDR consists of two loops for a frequency locked loop and a phase locked loop. The proposed 2.496 Gb/s reference-less dual loop CDR is designed using a 65 nm CMOS process with 1.2 V supply voltage. The simulated peak-to-peak jitter of output clock is 9.26 ps for the input data of 2.496 Gb/s pseudo-random binary sequence (PRBS) 15. The active area and power consumption of the implemented CDR are $470{\times}400{\mu}m^2$ and 6.49 mW, respectively.
