Chemical weathering processes related with mineralogical characters and ground water condition are very essential engineering problems in soluble rock masses. Detailed geological mapping were performed and 8 samples were collected from the 2 formations including various rock faces to deduce the possibility of the limestone cavity formation and their mechanism. Petrological descriptions and various petro-mineralogical experiments such as XRD analysis, clay mineral analysis, absorptivity test, impurity analysis were conducted to evaluate the cavity making processes. Laboratory solubility test for rock specimen were also carried out under the strong acid (pH=1) condition. From the experimental data and geological mapping data, it is found that the formation of limestone cavities in limestones are strongly related with geological structures such as beddings, cleavages and the contents of impurities rather than CaCO$_3$contents. In case of dolomites, rock textures, grain size, amounts and types of clay minerals as well as geological structures are major controlling factors of cavity forming processes
To reduce the dependence of wool dyeing on the temperature several solvents with different properties and structures were added to the dye bath of C. I. Acid Yellow 42. Nearly the same total solubility parameters(${\delta}_t$) of solvents as those of wool fiber and hydrophobic part of the dyestuff were needed to increase disaggregation of dye molecules, loosening the wool fiber and wickabilty of dyeing solution; besides, the large surface tension(${\gamma}$) value of the solvents and the well balanced values of the three-component Hansen solubility parameters such as dispersion(${\delta}_d$), polar(${\delta}_p$), and hydrogen(${\delta}_h$) bonding parameters were required. Among the added solvents dimethyl phthalate(DMP) and acetophenone(AP) were satisfied with these conditions and worked the most successfully in the low temperature wool dyeing. Their effectiveness proven by the dyeing rate and the activation energy ($E_a$) of the dyeing was in the order of DMP > AP > DBE > CH > M >NONE. In conclusion the total solubility parameters(${\delta}_t$), the three-component Hansen parameters and the surface tension(${\gamma}$) of DMP and AP could be the guidelines to select suitable solvents for low temperature wool dyeing.
The ruminal solubility of copper (Cu), manganese (Mn), molybdenum (Mo), and zinc (Zn) in eight Philippine forages was studied. These forages were: 1) grasses: paragrass (Brachiaria mutica (Forsk.) Stapf), stargrass (Cynodon plectostachyum Pilger), and napiergrass (Pennisetum purpureum Schumach.); 2) creeping legumes: calopogonium or calopo (Calopogonium muconoides Desv.) and centrocema (Centrocema pubescens Benth.); 3) tree lequmes: gliricidia or kakawate (Gliricidia sepium (Jacq.) Walp.), leucaena or ipil-ipil (Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit.), and sesbania or katuray (Sesbania grandiflora (L.) Poir). Nylon bags with samples were incubated for 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72h in three rumen cannulated sheep fed with timothy hay (Phleum pratense L.) at 2% body weight/d. The 0-h bags were washed with deionized water. There were species differences (p < 0.05) on the different solubilities of trace elements. At O-h incubation, the trend of solubility was Mo (54%) > Zn (43%) > Cu (38.7%) > Mn (29.5%). At 3-h incubation, all the elements except Mn had an average solubility above 50%. Combining particulate passage rate (1.9%/h) and various trace elements disappearance rates, the effective ruminal solubilization (ERS) of trace elements were computed. The ERS across species ranged from 44.6 to 89.9% for Cu, 29.9 to 84% for Mn, 66 to 95.1% for Mo, and 30.1 to 82.3% for Zn resulting to a trend of Mo > Zn > Cu > Mn.

Photoresist is defined as substance that makes chemical changes in its solubility, colouring and hardening by light energy. In this study, photosensitive photoresists of the positive type for a printing plate were studied. PF, o-, m-, p-CF resins as a matrix resin were synthesized at an identical condition. Photoresists were prepared by mixing NDS derivatives with a matrix resin at various mixing ratios. Characteristics of photoresists were studied by yield method of residual using solubility and Optical microscope was also analyzed. Prepared photoresist using NDS derivatives shows excellent photosensitivity and solubility compared with commercial product. The mixing ratio of 1:4(by mass) of NDS derivative[III] and m-CF resin shows the highest dissoultion rate among others. In addition, photoresist was obtained at this condition resulted in the superior sensitivity and contrast.
This study aimed to develop a solid self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (solid-SNEDDS) to enhance the formulation of ketoconazole (KTZ), a BCS Class II drug with poor solubility. Ketoconazole, which is insoluble above pH 3, requires solubilization for effective delivery. This SNEDDS comprises oil, surfactant, and co-surfactant, which spontaneously emulsify in the gastrointestinal tract environment to form nanoemulsions with droplet sizes less than 100 nm. The optimal SNE-vehicle composition of oleic acid, TPGS, and PEG 400 at a 10:80:10 weight ratio was determined based on the smallest droplet size achieved. This composition was used to prepare liquid SNEDDS containing ketoconazole. The droplet size and polydispersity index (PDI) of the resulting liquid SNEDDS were analyzed. Subsequently, solid-SNEDDS was fabricated using a spray-drying method with solidifying carriers such as silicon dioxide, crospovidone, and magnesium alumetasilicate. The physicochemical properties of the solid-SNEDDS were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and powder X-ray diffraction, and its solubility, droplet size, and PDI were evaluated. In particular, the solid-SNEDDS containing ketoconazole and crospovidone in a 2:1 weight ratio exhibited significantly enhanced solubility, highlighting its potential for improved medication adherence and dissolution rates.

Glycinin of more than $97\%$ purity was modified using maleic anhydride. Glycinin samples of $0\%,\;65\%,\;and\;95\%$ lysine residue modifications were used to determine the changes in turbidimetric characteristics of the protein due to maleylation. The solubility behavior of the protein as a function of pH was changed with maleylation. The isoelectric point of $65\%\;and\;95\%$ modified glycinin shifted to pH 4.0 and pH 3.5-4.0, respectively, as compared to pH 4.6 for native glycinin. Maleylated glycinins exhibited increased solubility at pH above 4.6. Turbidity of native glycinin decreased substantially by the addition of NaCl, but the stabilizing effect of NaCl decreased when the protein was chemically modified. The effect of NaCl on $65\%$ modified glycinin was intermediate between native glycinin and $95\%$ modified sample. Thermal aggregation of native glycinin was completed within 5 min of heating at $80^{\circ}C$. Maleylation contributed significantly to the thermostability of the protein at pH of 7.0 and 9.0, exhibiting little turbidity. Addition of NaCl suppressed thermal aggregation of native glycinin, but turbidity actually increased for the samples of $65\%\;and\;95\%$ modification.
In this study, effect of transglutaminase (TGase) addition on physical, water barrier, optical and mechanical properties of mechanically deboned chicken meat protein (MDCM-P) films was investigated. When TGase was added to the films, the thickness increased, but the solubility decreased. Films treated with TGase exhibited higher water vapor permeability than control film (p<0.05). When TGase concentration increased, the $L^*$ values of films decreased, but $a^*$ and $b^*$ values increased. All films showed very good barrier properties against UV light. The highest tensile strength was obtained in MDCM-P films containing 3% TGase (p<0.05). The elongation at break values increased with the TGase concentration increasing from 1 to 3%, but decreased at higher enzyme concentration (p<0.05). The addition of TGase altered molecular organization and intermolecular interaction in the film matrix. TGase treated films showed smoother and ordered surface structure and homogeneous and compact microstructure. The results indicated that TGase use can be an effective approach in improving the solubility and mechanical properties of MDCM-P films.
To clarify the diffusional behavior of p-aminbenzoic acid esters in the presence of polyethylene glycol 400, cellulose membrane permeation rate, solubility and viscosity of p-aminobenzoic acid methyl ester, benzocaine and butamben were determined with PEG solutions of various concentrations. With an increase in PEG concentrations permeation rates from solutions; decreased due to an increase in viscosity of the solution. From suspensions, however, permeation rates increased due to an increase in solubility and when the initial drug concentration was constant, permeation rates were found to be greatest from the PEG-water system with the PEG concentration which transported from the solution to the suspension. Permeation rate of 4.0mg/ml p-aminobenzoic acid methyl ester was $26.51\mu$g/ml$\cdot$hr from 5g/100ml PEG solution, and that of 4.0mg/ml benzocaine was $13.17{\mu}g/ml{\cdot}hr$ from 15g/100ml PEG, solution, and that of 2.0mg/ml butamben was $3.8{\mu}g/ml{\cdot}hr$ from 10g/100ml PEG solution. Permeation rate was 7.0 fold in p-aminobenzoic acid methyl, ester and 3.5 fold in benzocaine compared to butamben.

The optimal condition for preparation of powdered calcium acetate (LCCA) which has high solubility, from calcined powder (LCCP) of the littleneck clam shell by response surface methodology (RSM) was examined. Increased molar ratio of LCCP led to reduced solubility, yield, color values, and overall quality. The critical values of multiple response optimization of independent variables were 2.57 M of acetic acid and 1.57 M of LCCP. The actual values (pH 7.0, 96.1% for solubility, and 220.9% for yield) under the optimized condition were similar to the predicted values. LCCA showed strong buffering capacity between pH 4.89 and 4.92 on addition of ~2 mL of 1 N HCl. The calcium content and solubility of LCCA were 21.9-23.0 g/100 g and 96.1-100.1%, respectively. The FT-IR and XRD patterns of LCCA were identified as calcium acetate monohydrate, and FESEM images revealed an irregular and rod-like microstructure.
The low solubility and high-cost recovery of Propionibacterium acnes polyunsaturated fatty acid isomerase (PAI) are key problems in the bioproduction of high value-added conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). To improve the solubility of recombinant PAI, six chaperone proteins were coexpressed with PAI. Introduction of GroELS proteins dramatically improved the PAI solubility from 29% to 97%, with increased activity by 57.8%. Combined expression of DnaKJ-GrpE and GroELS proteins increased the activity by 11.9%. In contrast, coexpression of DnaKJ-GrpE proteins significantly reduced the activity by 57.4%. Plasmids pTf16 harboring the tig gene and pG-Tf2 containing the tig and groEL-groES genes had no visible impact on PAI expression. The lytic protein E was then introduced into the recombinant Escherichia coli to develop a cell autolysis system. A 35% activity of total intracellular PAI was released from the cytoplasm by suspending the lysed cells in distilled water. The PAI recovery was further improved to 81% by optimizing the release conditions. The lipase from Rhizopus oryzae was also expressed in E. coli, with an extracellular activity of 110.9 U/ml. By using the free PAI and lipase as catalysts, a joint system was established for producing CLA from sunflower oil. Under the optimized conditions, the maximum titer of t-10,c-12-CLA reached 9.4 g/l. This work provides an effective and low-cost strategy to improve the solubility and recovery of the recombinant intracellular PAI for further large-scale production of CLA.
