We have studied on characterization and cheese making like mineral contents, protein composition and coagulation pattern on equine milk. At first, for contents of mineral on equine milk, It was lower in equine than bovine milk Contents of Na, Mg, P, Ca and K the major minerals, were indicated as 18.3 mg, 0.4 mg, 33.3 mg, 80.9 mg and 134.9 mg respectively by 100 g. In the distribution of nitrogen, the ratio NPN to Nt was indicated as 9.8% while that of bovine milk was 7%. And In NCN, its percentage was indicated as 45.6% shelving that Equine casein was lower than bovine. From these results, equine milk could not be applicable to cheese production since there are no coagulable nitrogen fraction such as ${\kappa}$-casein, as there aye with bovine milk. Equine milk will be more acceptable if we accept that the phylogenic affinity is near to human. It is the same as equine from the view points that monogastric, which did not contain ruminant's casein. For the rennet coagulation, equine milk was different than bovine milk. Equine milk did not coagulated by rennet after the addition of $Ca^{2+}$. But when bovine ${\kappa}$-casein was added in the presece of rennet, and $Ca^{2+}$ to equine milk, coagulation occurred. Such phenomenon was also observed by the use SEM. Verification of ${\kappa}$-casein by SDS-PACE did not existed in equine milk. The Casein of equine milk(54.4%) is similar to human milk in that casein/whey is about 1. For equine milt this can be explained because distance between casein and Ca is great, casein being lower, which result in reaction of casein with $Ca^{2+}$ because it could not activated which lasting time of coagulation is too long.
Ethyl carbamate is an animal carcinogen and a suspected human carcinogen found in fermented foods and beverages. For the determination of ethyl carbamate in typical Korean diet, an analytical method was established for the food as complex as Kimchi. Kimchi samples collected from various locations in the country were homogenized and extracted four times with ethyl acelate. Following concentration and reconstitution with water, the extract was loaded onto $C_{18}$ column. Fraction containing ethyl carbamate was eluted with methanol, while most of the red pigment of the sample was retained on the column. The eluent was further purified with alumina, followed by Florisil column. The final eluent was analyzed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry in the selected ion monitoring mode. None of the twenty Kimchi samples showed ethyl carbamate level higher than 4.6 ppb without correction for the recovery. The concentration of ethyl carbamate in Kimchi increased as pH decreased, suggesting fermentation dependent formation of ethyl carbamate.
positron annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy has been extensively applied in recent years to investigate the free volume in polymers owing to the capability of the electron-positron bound system (positronium) to probe the typical size of sub-nanometric cavities among the macromolecular chains. In this paper we show recent results obtained through this technique in some amorphous polymeric mem-branes(olyurethanes. PUs and polytrimethilsylilpropine PTMSP) after a brief survey of the general features of the annihilation process as well as of the experimental apparatus. Lifetime of o-ps decay({{{{ tau _3}}}}) in PUs increases going from sub {{{{ TAU _g}}}} to over {{{{ TAU _g}}}} temperatures following a sigmoid curve. The coefficient of dilatation of the free volume fraction is shown to be the sum of two contributes due to the variation with T of the number of holes and of their mean volume. PAL spectrum of PTMSP freshly prepared shows four lifetime components: {{{{ tau _3}}}} and {{{{ tau _4}}}}: only are useful for free volume study. Two kinds of holes of different equivalent radius are reported ({{{{ gamma _s}}}} 4.60 nm and {{{{ gamma _1}}}} 0.754) The equivalent volume does not change in a range of 100 K. however the physical aging increases density and decreases oxygen permeability while {{{{ gamma _s}}}} goes down to 0.374 and r1 to 0.735 The number of holes obtained from the intensities{{{{ IOTA _3}}}} and {{{{ IOTA _4}}}} of PAL spectra decreases with aging 21.7% and 3.5% for large and small holes respectively.

;The Kwinana Shoreline Fumigation Experiment(KSFE) took place in Fremantle, WA, Australia between 23 January and 8 February, 1995. All measurement systems performed to expectation. The CSIRO DAR(Division of Atmospheric Research) LIDAR measured plume sections from near the Kwinana Power Station(KPS) stacks to up to about 5 km downstream. It also measured boundary layer aerosols and the structure of the boundary layer on some occasions. Both stages A and C of KPS were used as tracers at different times. Radiosonde and double theodolite sounding systems measured temperature, humidity, air pressure and wind structure at the coast(Woodman Point) and at the inland(ALCOA residue dump) site at intervals of roughly two hours. These were supplemented by mid afternoon soundings(radiosonde and single theodolite) by Department of Environmental Protection(DEP) at Swanbourne. The Flinders aircraft measured wind, turbulence and temperature structure of the atmospheric boundary layer, concentrations of $C0_2,\;0_3,\;S0_2\;and\;NO_x$ in the smoke plumes and surface radiation over both land and sea. CSIRO DCET(Division of Coal and Energy Technology) vehicle successfully interceptde many smoke plumes and using a range of tracers will be able to identify the various sources much of the time. Routine data from the DEP and Kwinana Industrial Council(KIC) air quality monitoring networks were also automatically logged. Murdoch University measured surface heat flux at Hope Valldy monitoring station and also at Wattleup monitoring station for the last five days. The heart of the LIDAR system is a Neodymium-doped Yttrium-aluminumgarnet(Nd:Y AG) laser operating at a fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm, with harmonics fo 532 nm and 355 nm. A small fraction of the laser beam is scattered back to the LIDAR, collected by a telescope and detedted by a photomultiplier tube. The intensity of the signal as a function of time is a measure of the particle concentration as a function of distance along the line of the laser shot. The results of nine days special field observations are summarized in detail.etail.
This study investigated whether the extracts from cosmos flowers exhibit antibacterial activities and identified which components were ascribed to the antibacterial effects. The antibacterial effects of extracts from white, pink, and violet cosmos flowers were observed for 24 h after inoculation with four kinds of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli. Among the three fractions of cosmos flower extracts, the best antibacterial activity against the four bacteria was observed in the extracts isolated from the EtOAc layer. However, the extracts from the CHCl3 layer were also effective against S. aureus. Moreover, the first of white, second of pink, and first of violet silica gel fractions (Fr.) isolated from the EtOAc layer exhibited minimal inhibition at a concentration of 0.1 mg/mL. Comparison of NMR and High-Pressure Liquid Chromatography results between silica gel Fr. and apigenin suggested that the effective fractions can contain a component including apigenin moiety.
To prepare oligouronic acids from high-molecular-weight alginates prepared from sea tangle (Laminaria japonica), the alginates were hydrolyzed at various temperatures for 1 hr at pH 5.0. The effects of hydrolysis temperature $(H_{Temp})$ on the average molecular weight (AMW) and distribution ratio of MW (DR) in the hydrolyzed alginates were investigated. As $(H_{Temp})$ increased, the AMW of the alginates decreased exponentially; in addition the DR of the alginates with MW>500 kDa decreased exponentially, while the DR of those with MW=50-100 and MW<50 kDa increased exponentially. For the alginates with MW=300-500 and MW=100-300 kDa the DR increased exponentially until $H_{Temp}$ reached $80^{\circ}C$, and then decreased exponentially at above $80^{\circ}C$. AS $H_{Temp}$ increased, the MW cutoff size and AMW Of the alginates fraction With the highest DR both decreased. For $H_{Temp}<60^{\circ}C$, the MW cutoff size with the highest DR was MW>500 kDa; the DR was 39-67% and the AMW 1,000-1,300 kDa. For $H_{Temp}$$80^{\circ}C$, the MW cutoff size with the highest DR was MW=300-500 kDa and the DR was about 33% and the AMW about 400 kDa. For $H_{Temp}\;100-121^{\circ}C$, the MW cutoff size with the highest DRs was MW=50-100 kDa, with a DR of 39-44% and an AMW of 70-80 kDa.
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of red ginseng water extract (RGWE) on trypsin activity. After extraction of fat soluble and saponin component from red ginseng powder by methyl alcohol, the residue was extracted with distilled water, and manufactured to water extract. The extract was dialyzed with different molecular cut off membrane. Trypsin activity demonstrated the highest level at the RGWE concentration of 9${\times}$10$\^$-2/% in reaction mixture, and also increased to 15% at 2.9${\times}$10$\^$-3/%. Km value was decreased and Vmax was increased in the present of red ginseng water extract. Red ginseng water extract was partially purified by dialysis, Bio-Gel P-I0 and DEAE-cellulose column chromatography. The active fraction demonstrated positive reaction to ninhydrin, DNS and folin reaction.
The purpose of this study was to develop cardiovascular health related percent body-fat standards that may be applied to epidemiologic investigations of the prevalence and incidence of obesity in adolescents, pediatric health screenings, and youth fitness tests. The subjects included 102 males and 80 females aged 19~22years. All subject were Honam University Students Total body fat was derived from body density which was estimated from age and the triceps and subscapular skinfold thickness measured with Lang calipers to the nearst l.0mm. Serum total cholesterol and lipoprotein cholesterol fraction(HDL-CLDL-C) were measured from blood obtained from fore arm vein after blood pressure measurement. In analyses to determine critical fat levels associated with elevated CDD(Chronic Degenerative Disease) risk factors;male and female were grouped by level of percent fat as follows: male, 〈 10%, 10-14.9%, 15-19.9%, 20-24.9%, and $\geq$ 25%;female, 〈 20%, 20-24.9%, 25-29.9%, 30-34.9%, and $\geq$ 35%. As the results of the data, the conclusions were as follows: 1. A dose respones effect was observed between blood pressure and percent body fat in males and females; in contrast, total cholesterol and lipoprotein ratios were relatively independant of percent fat among the lower four fatness group in males and the lower three fatness groups in females. 2. The percentage of subjects in the uppermost quintile for S-Bp, D-Bp, TC, LDL/H was significantly(P〈.05) greater than expected by change alone(20%) in males with $\geq$ 25% fat and in females with $\geq$ 30% fat females with $\geq$35% had even greater representation in the uppermost quintile of all CDD risk factors compared to females with 30-34.9% fat.
The atmospheric corrosion performance of Al-alloying, Si-alloying and Al-Si-alloying steel were studied by wet/dry cyclic corrosion tests (CCT) at $30^{\circ}C$ and 60% relative humidity (RH). The corrosion electrolyte used for CCT was 0.052 wt% $NaHSO_{3}$ (pH~4) solution. The result of gravimetry demonstrated that Al-Si-bearing steels showed lower corrosion resistance than other rusted steels. But the rusted 0.7%Si-alloying steel showed a better corrosion resistance than rusted mild steel. Polarization curves demonstrated that Al-/Si-alloying and Al-Si-alloying improved the rest potential of steel at the initial stage; and accelerated the cathodic reduction and anodic dissolution after a rust layer formed on the surfaces of steels. XRD results showed that Al-Si-alloying decreased the volume fraction of $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ and $\alpha-FeOOH$. The recycle of acid accelerated the corrosion of steel at the initial stage. After the rust layer formed on the steel, the leak of rust destabilized the rust layer due to the dissolution of compound containing Al (such as $FeAl_{2}O_{4}$, $(Fe,\;Si)_{2}(Fe,\;Al)O_{4}$). Al-Si-alloying is hence not suitable for improving the anti-corrosion resistance of steel in industrial atmosphere.
Background: In this research article, we evaluate the use of sub-periosteal tunneling (tunnel technique) combined with alloplastic in situ hardening biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP, a compound of β-tricalcium phosphate and hydroxyapatite) bone graft for lateral augmentation of a deficient alveolar ridge. Methods: A total of 9 patients with deficient mandibular alveolar ridges were included in the present pilot study. Ten lateral ridge augmentation were carried out using the sub-periosteal tunneling technique, including a bilateral procedure in one patient. The increase in ridge width was assessed using CBCT evaluation of the ridge preoperatively and at 4 months postoperatively. Histological assessment of the quality of bone formation was also carried out with bone cores obtained at the implant placement re-entry in one patient. Results: The mean bucco-lingual ridge width increased in average from 4.17 ± 0.99 mm to 8.56 ± 1.93 mm after lateral bone augmentation with easy-graft CRYSTAL using the tunneling technique. The gain in ridge width was statistically highly significant (p = 0.0019). Histomorphometric assessment of two bone cores obtained at the time of implant placement from one patient revealed 27.6% new bone and an overall mineralized fraction of 72.3% in the grafted area 4 months after the bone grafting was carried out. Conclusions: Within the limits of this pilot study, it can be concluded that sub-periosteal tunneling technique using in situ hardening biphasic calcium phosphate is a valuable option for lateral ridge augmentation to allow implant placement in deficient alveolar ridges. Further prospective randomized clinical trials will be necessary to assess its performance in comparison to conventional ridge augmentation procedures.
