  • To extract value-added products from satellite images for the benefit of science and human life, the Satellite Technology Research Center at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has developed an integrated software 'Valadd-Pro'. In this paper, the 'Valadd-Pro' software is briefly introduced and its main components such as geometric correction, ortho correction and digital elevation model extraction are described. The performances of the 'Valadd-Pro' was assessed on $60km{\times}60km$ SPOT panchromatic images using ground control points from GPS measurements. Also, the height accuracy was measured by comparing our results with the $DTEDs^3$ produced by USGS and the DEM generated from the digitized countours of maps produced by the National Geographic Institute. In geometric correction, the 'Valadd-Pro' software needed fewer ground control points than a commercial software 'P' for the satisfactory results. In ortho correction, the 'Valadd-Pro' software show the similar performance to a commercial software 'P'. In digital elevation model extraction, the 'Valadd-Pro' software is two times more accurate and four times faster than a commercial software 'P'.

  • Purpose: The aims of this study were to construct a hypothetical structural model which explains premenstrual coping in university students and to test the fitness with collected data. Methods: Participants were 206 unmarried women university students from 3 universities in A and B cities. Data were collected from March 29 until April 30, 2016 using self-report structured questionnaires and were analyzed using IBM SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 18.0. Results: Physiological factor was identified as a significant predictor of premenstrual syndrome (t=6.45, p<.001). This model explained 22.1% of the variance in premenstrual syndrome. Psychological factors (t=-2.49, p=.013) and premenstrual syndrome (t=8.17, p<.001) were identified as significant predictors of premenstrual coping. Also this model explained 30.9% of the variance in premenstrual coping in university students. A physiological factors directly influenced premenstrual syndrome (${\beta}=.41$, p=.012). Premenstrual syndrome (${\beta}=.55$, p=.005) and physiological factor (${\beta}=.23$, p=.015) had significant total effects on premenstrual coping. Physiological factor did not have a direct influence on premenstrual coping, but indirectly affected it (${\beta}=.22$, p=.007). Psychological factors did not have an indirect or total effect on premenstrual coping, but directly affected it (${\beta}=-.17$, p=.036). Conclusion: These findings suggest that strategies to control physiological factors such as menstrual pain should be helpful to improve premenstrual syndrome symptoms. When developing a program to improve premenstrual coping ability and quality of menstrual related health, it is important to consider psychological factors including perceived stress and menstrual attitude and premenstrual syndrome.

  • By assuming a linearly graded depletion edge approximation in the intrinsic MOS region and by taking into account the mobility variation dependent on both lateral and vertical fields, a physics-based analytical model for a short-channel(n-channel) MOSFET is suggested. Derived expressions for the threshold voltage and the drain current of typical MOSFET is structures could be used in a unified manner for all operating range. The threshold voltage was calculated by changing following variables : channel length, drain-source voltage, source-substrate voltage, p-substrate doping level, and oxide thickness. It is shown that the threshold voltage decreases almost exponentially as the channel length decreases. In addition, the short-channel threshold voltage roll-off, the channel length modulation and the electron mobility degradation can be derived within a satisfactory accuracy.

  • The objective of this study is to develop a stochastic continuous storage function model for enhancement of an event-oriented watershed and channel storage function models which have been used as an official flood forecast model in Korea. For this study, soil moisture accounting component is added to the original storage function model and each hydrologic component, such as surface flow, subsurface flow, groundwater flow and actual evaportranspiration, is simulated as a function of soil water content. And also, ensemble Kalman filtering technique is used for real-time assimilation of measured streamflow from various stream locations in the watershed. Therefore the enhanced model will be able to simulate hydrologic components for long-term period without additional estimation of model parameters and to give more accurate and reliable results than those from the existing deterministic model due to the assimilation of measured streamflow data.

  • This study was conducted to obtain the optimal spray time for Pseudaulacaspis prunicota (Maskell) (Homoptera: Diaspididae) in early seaon in Jeju. Oviposition time of overwintered females and activity of hatched nymphs of P. prunicola were monitored, and the phenology data were compared with the outputs estimated by a degree-days model of P. pentagona (Targioni-Tozzetti)). Overwintered females of P. prunicola began to lay eggs from mid to late April, and the eggs started to hatch from early May followed by the active migration of the hatched nymphs during mid May. The phenological events of P. prunicola in early season were likely comparable with those of P. pentagona reported in southern Korea and in central Japan. A degree-day model, which predicts the proportion of >50% hatched egg batches of P. pentagona (y=1[exp(-(-a+bx))]; y, proportion; x, degree-days based on $10.5^{\circ}C$ from 1 January; a=-18.80 and b=0.073), accurately described the migration time of P. prunicola hatched nymphs. Thus, it is considered that the degree-day model can be used for predicting the optimal spray time for P. prunicola in early season.
