Capsuloligamentous injury at the first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint is a common traumatic injury during physical activity, particularly on artificial turf. Mechanism of injury include excessive flexion, extension, or valgus stress. We report a non-operatively treated capsuloligamentous injury at the first MTP joint, which did not occur traumatically but developed by a stress-related mechanism in a collegiate rower.

Objective: Recently, inline skates are populary increasing and have become major recreational activities. This study was performed to determine the effective prevention means on various extremity injury by investigating injury severity occording to acute injury and overuse injury. Results: Acute inline skating injury was experienced mostly among the age between 6$\~$14 years old children after school around nearby their home without using no appropriate safety device gear. The wrist injury was mostly happened. We think that overuse injury is related to boot itself, boot fitting and improper skating techniques. Conclusion: So afterall, appropriate safety equipment wearing in inline skating at the safe place after learning about the skating skills can reduce the acute inline skating extremity injuries. Choosing a pair of good fitting boots, performing the exact pushing techniques and take good rests in the middle of skating frequently can reduce the overuse injury.
Repetitive overhead throwing exerts significant mechanical stress on the elbow joint. Pitching in baseball, serving in tennis, spiking in volleyball, passing in American football and launching in javelin-throwing can all produce elbow pathology by forceful valgus stress, with medial stretching, lateral compression and posterior impingement. This stress can lead to developmental anatomic changes in the young thrower. Asymptomatic pathology in the shoulder and elbow joint is prevalent and, with overuse, can progress to disabling injury. Joint injury occurs as a result of the body's inability to properly coordinate motion segments during the pitching delivery, leading to further structural damage. The implications of acute and overuse injuries and the possibility of permanent damage should be understood by parents, coaches and the athletes. Proper understanding of the intrinsic and extrinsic risk factors that could lead to elbow injuries is thus required. Measures to prevent elbow injuries should include proper coaching, warm-up, medical expertise and protective gear. Injury prevention and rehabilitation should center on optimizing pitching mechanics, core strength, scapular control, and joint range of motion.
This study aimed to identify the efficiency of short track-related sports injury prevention program consisted of muscle strength and neuromuscular training on non-contact injury incidence and characteristics in knee and ankle joints and low back for elite short track speed skaters. Twenty-five short track athletes who belonged to G-City Team were participated in this study from Nov. 2017 to Jul. 2018. Information on their sports injuries occurred were collected and injury prevention program was applied in their warm-up every training sessions and competition. Also their symptom-level of knee and ankle joint and low back were measured by using OSTRC overuse injury questionnaire and Cumberland ankle instability(CAIT). The injury incidence rate after application of prevention program was 2.79 injuries/1,000 hour exposures(HEs), which was lower than before (3.04 injuries/1,000HEs). The OSTRC score (30.89±28.34 and 23.84±23.61, respectively) in knee and low back after application of prevention program were lower than before (58.47±26.77 and 52.36±21.55, respectively), and the CAIT score (13.47±6.07) in ankle joint after application of program was higher than before (16.26±7.28), which means that their symptom-level was alleviated with sports injury prevention program. In conclusion, the sports injury prevention program designed for short track's motion and characteristic can have positive influences on the occurrence of non-contact injury for short track speed skaters.
Objective: Few studies have investigated alterations of ground reaction force (GRF) in individuals with chronic ankle instability (CAI) compared with lateral ankle sprain (LAS) copers and healthy controls during walking. This study aimed to investigate differences in GRF variables among the CAI, LAS coper, and control groups. Method: Eighteen individuals with CAI, 18 LAS copers, and 18 healthy controls were recruited for this study. All participants walked on 8-m walkway with a force plate three times. GRF data during stance phase were extracted and analyzed. The analysis of variance and ensemble curve analysis were used for statistical analyses of discrete points and time-series data respectively. Results: The CAI group showed a greater loading rate (LR) and a shorter time to impact peak force than the other groups, as well as decreased vGRF from 56% to 65% in the stance phase than the control group. No significant differences were noted in the other variables. Conclusion: Based on these findings, individuals with CAI should enhance their ability to create propulsion during the push-off phase and spend more time absorbing GRF to decrease the LR, which is considered one of risk factors for overuse injury and ankle osteoarthritis.
Many people in these days participate in running as leisure due to urbanization and socio-economic development. Running is a simple exercise but it can induce its own specific injury pattern because of its repetitive motion. Most runners' injury is caused by chronic overuse syndrome rather than acute trauma. And common accompanying injury in running are anterior knee pain syndrome, Iliotibial band syndrome, stress fracture, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, posterior tibial tendon syndrome. Most common area of runners' injury is knee joint. Therefore the authors reviewed the recent literatures and described the classification, etiology, prevention, rehabilitation in this article.
Golf has become an increasingly a popular sports for young and older ages. It has benefits of walking exercise and enjoyment of sports . However, golf is considered to be a moderate risk activity for sports injury due to traumatic origin and overuse. Golf injuries primarily affect the dorsolumbar sites , upper extremity(elbow, shoulder, wrist) and lower extremity (knee, hip, ankle). Ajustment of golf swing and conditioning programmes for preventing injuries which include muscular strengthening, flexibility and a short pregame warm up help to reduce the incidence of injury.
Clinical conditions causing the lower leg injury and pain in athletes include acute injuries which are acute compartment syndrome, acute strain injury, contusion, muscle cramps, and chronic injuries which are chronic exertional compartment syndrome, achilles tendinitis, shin splints and stress fractures. Most injuries occur during running, jumping and playing soccer. Many of these conditions relate to overuse, increased strength, training errors and environment. It is necessary to know the cause of injuries and treatment methods to prevent the sports related lower leg injuries.
Objectives: We did research in the cause of the Pitchers' injury and their recovery process to make a detailed injury list for the purpose of finding the cause of the Korean professional pitchers' injury and its classification. We drew the conclusion through the results as following. Methods: We posed a question to the 80 pitchers playing in the first team of the eight Korean professional baseball team and analyzed the 62 pieces of question paper except the paper having a mistake. We used SAS/PC statistical package in analyzing the data. Results: In the frequency of the pitchers' shoulder injury in the last three years, the injured of all the players were 61.3$\%$ and the injury free players were 28.7$\%$. The cause of the injury was 45.2$\%$ wrong pitching motion, which was the highest value. For the shape of a pain when injured, the reverberation ache feeling when he is hit in the weight commanded an absolute majority as 19.4$\%$. Those who had muscular pain were 17.7$\%$, which was felt mostly at the pitching motion. The most trouble name of the injured shoulder was bicepstendinitis as 16.1$\%$ while the injury of shoulder joint was the lowest as 1.6$\%$. As the most widely used treatment, 25.8 percent of all the players had taken an electronical thraphy after injury. 14.5 percent of the players who had an injury to the shoulder told that they have an operation and 85 percent of them didn't. As a sort of the operation, a repairing of labrum was 44.4 percent, which is the highest value and the 77.8 percent pitchers are performing a normal pitching through rehabilitation after the operation and 22.2 percent of them are undergoing rehabilitation training. Conclusion: The research have shown that the main cause of the injury, concerning the Korean professional pitchers throwing lots of ball in both matches and practices, is overuse syndrome, bad mechanism, muscle weakness and instability of balance. I think that the role of trainer, physical therapy, and team physician taking charge of the players' injury must learn physical test method by heart exactly to check up the state of the injury definitely at the initial phase. Moreover, when the cause of the injury part after a close examination is discovered, the scientific and good surgery is essential to the rehabilitation success and making a classification of shoulder instability is useful to make a operation plan as well as the players' rehabilitation, treatment.
The motions used in throwing place tremendous stresses on the soft tissues about the player's shoulder. In order to throw successfully, the shoulder complex must be capable of excessive motion, while maintaining stability of the glenohumeral joint. Injuries to the throwing player can result from acute trauma, but more commonly can be a result of overuse injuries from the repetitive throwing activity. Inbalance in the muscles and soft tissue about the shoulder can result in an injury secondary to abnormal biomechanics of the glenohumeral complex. The preventive measure a throwing player can take in order to maintain a healthy throwing shoulder is to participate in a regular shoulder strengthening program. It is when the muscles about the shoulder become imbalanced, secondary to either injury or relative weakness, that instability and injury can occur. By understanding the pitching motion and the relative contribution of the muscles, the treating physician has a framework on which to build knowledge regarding physical findings and diagnosis of shoulder injuries in throwing players. Once a diagnosis is made. a successful treatment plan may be developed for the player, including both conservative and , at time surgical means.
