A project has recently begun to reintroduce endangered Asiatic black bears to the Jirisan National Park. However, information on home range that is necessary to maintain the Minimum Viable Population (MVP) of those bears does not exist. Based on point data of two bears that were released for trial in Jirisan in 2001, we identified the movement pattern of bears and estimated their home ranges with two different methods Finally, the possibility of conserving the MVP of bears was evaluated by comparing the location and size of the home range with habitats which have been found to be suitable for bears. The frequency of bears' appearance reduced drastically as road densities of both paved roads and legal trails increased. The midpoint of home ranges of the two bears was 376.85 $km^2$ and 50.76 $km^2$ based on 100% MCP (Minimum Convex Polygon) and 95% AK (Adaptive Kernel Home Range Method), respectively, with an overlapped area of 126.0 $km^2$ and 3.99 $km^2$ each. The core areas of their home ranges are located not in the no-entry zone, where major trails were open to the public - despite being designated as no -entry zone - but in areas where most trails were closed to the public. A discrepancy between core areas of home ranges and potentially suitable habitats suggests the effects of vehicles and tracking people through roads within the park. Thus, for the success of in situ conservation of endangered bears, well-planned management of habitats is needed to protect bears and to ensure the home ranges to support the MVP.

In order to effectively distribute the resources, it is very critical to understand the status or progress of construction site quickly and accurately. Augmented Reality (AR) can provide this situation with information which is convenient and intuitive. Conventional implementation of AR in outdoor or construction site condition requires additional sensors or markers to track the position and direction of camera. This research is aimed to develop the technologies which can be utilized in gathering the information of constructing or constructed buildings and structures. The AR technique that does not require additional devices except for the camera was implemented to simplify the system and improve utility in inaccessible area. In order to do so, the position of camera's perspective center and direction of camera was estimated using exterior orientation techniques. And 3D drawing model of building was projected and overlapped using this information. The result shows that by using this technique, the virtual drawing image was registered on real image with few pixels of error. The technique and procedure introduced in this paper simplifies the hardware organization of AR system that makes it easier for the AR technology to be utilized with ease in construction site. Moreover, this technique will help the AR to be utilized even in inaccessible areas. In addition to this, it is expected that combining this technique and 4D CAD technology can provide the project manager with more intuitive and comprehensive information that simplifies the monitoring work of construction progress and planning.

In order to provide a realtime transmission over a wireless LAM, we here present a new jamming based retransmission mechanism. In a legacy wireless LAN system, all stations use the binary exponential backoff algorithm to avoid collisions among frames. It is well known that the backoff algorithm causes more collisions as the numbers of active stations increases. This makes transmission of real time traffic hard. In the proposed scheme, when each station senses collisions, it promptly allows to send a jamming signal during a unique jamming window period which is determined by its own channel access count database(CACDB). This jamming windows is chosen not to be overlapped each other by using of CACDB, and thus channel access of another station is prevented. Hereafter the station gets the ownership of the medium when the wireless medium becomes idle after sending the jamming signal and sensing carrier, and then sends frame in medium. In our proposal, repeating collisions is never happened. We here assume that real time traffic use a frame of fixed length in order to make the time for receiving its ACK frame same. Comparing the proposed jamming-based retransmission scheme with the the 802.11 and 802.11e MAC by simulation. one can find that the proposed scheme have advantages in terms of delay, average backoff time, and average number of collisions per frame. One can find that the proposed scheme might be practically applicable to several applications of realtime traffic transmission in wireless LAN systems.

In wireless spread-spectrum communication systems utilizing PN (pseudo noise) sequences, a variety of noise sources from the channel affect the data reception performance. Among them, in this paper we are concerned with the narrowband interference that may arise from the use of the spectral bands overlapped by the existing narrowband users or the intentional jammers as in military communication. The effect of this interference can be reduced to some extent at the receiver with the PN demodulation by processing gain. It is known, however, that when the interferers are strong, the reduction cannot be sufficient and thereby requiring the extra use of narrowband interference cancellers (NIC's) at the receivers. A class of adaptive NIC's are studied here based on different two cost functions. One is the chip mean-squared error (MSE) computed prior to the PN demodulation and used in the conventional cancellers. Since thses conventional cancellers should be operated at the chip rate, the computational requirements are enormous. The other is the symbol MSE computed after the PN demodulation in which case the weights of the NIC's can be updated at a lot lower symbol rate. To compare the performance of these NIC's, we derive a common measure of performance, i.e., the symbol MSE after the PN demodulation. The analytical results are verified by computer simulation. As a result, it is shown that the cancellation capability of the symbol-rate NIC's are similar or better than the conventional one while the computational complexity can be reduced a lot.
Recently electronic journal articles prevail throughout researchers because of the development of internet and electronic publishing technology. It is caused by limited collection development budget, lack of physical storage space for printed journals in libraries, and the user convenience of web services. But from the view of ownership, electronic journals can be unfavorable to information users or libraries who cannot have the permanent right to access all the subscribed journals. Actually the libraries only have right to access journals for subscription periods in using electronic journals. So the users and libraries are willing to purchase printed journals in spite of high cost. As an basis for collaborative collection development and sharing preservation of Korean libraries for the foreign journals, the data analysis is carried out for the journals collection in terms of regional distribution, overlapping status, and journal subject. And the considerables are discussed for collaborative strategic collection development, which means the reduction of overlapped subscription and maximization of utilization in a national standpoint.

Magai Wareiishi Jizo (Buddhist statue carved on rock surface) is close to shoreline and a part of rock block is periodically immersed by seawater. Rock material of the Wareiishi-jizo statue is composed mainly of medium or coarse-grained biotite granite and very durable. However, physical properties of the rock have been changed according to the complex interactions of the salt solution and surrounding environment. Exfoliation of the rock surface is a serious condition by salt crystallization. Exfoliation (14.6%) is concentrated on the upper part of the rock block with mainly boundary of seawater as the center. On the other hand, lower part of the rock block show black layers by contaminants deposition. In addition, brown discoloration and biological contaminants is overlapped. Rock surface show high discoloration rate of 50.5% (black discoloration, 29.2% > yellow discoloration, 14.1% > brown discoloration, 4.4% > green discoloration, 2.9%). Upper part of the rock block had a lot of change in the physical properties than lower part that is immersed by seawater. In particular, surface properties of the rock block was very weak state at the boundary surface of seawater permeation.
The Geopung Cu deposit consists of two subparallel quartz veins that till the NE-trending fissures in Triassic Cheongsan granite. The quartz veins occur mainly massive with partially cavity and breccia. They can be followed along strike for about 500 m and varies in thickness from 0.2 to 2.2 m. Based on the mineralogy and paragenesis of veins, mineralization of quartz veins can be divided into hypogene and supergene stages. Hypogene stage is associated with hydrothermal alteration minerals such as sericite, pyrite, quartz, chlorite, clay minerals and sulfides such as pyrite, arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite, marcasite, sphalerite, stannite, chalcopyrite and galena. Supergene stage is composed of geothite. Fluid inclusion data from quartz indicate that homogenization temperatures and salinity of hypogene stage range from 163 to $356^{\circ}C$ and from 0.2 to 7.2 wt.% eq. NaCl, respectively. They suggest that ore forming fluids were progressively cooled and diluted from mixing with meteoric water. Sulfur (${\delta}^{34}S$: 4.3~9.2‰) isotope composition indicates that ore sulfur was derived from mainly magmatic source although there is a partial derivation from the host rocks. The calculated oxygen (${\delta}^{18}O$: 0.9~4.0‰) and hydrogen (${\delta}D$: -86~-69‰) isotope compositions suggest that magmatic and meteoric ore fluids were equally important for the formation of the Geopung Cu deposit and then overlapped to some degree with another type of meteoric water during mineralization.
The objective of the present experiments were to determine whether micromanipulative and electro-stimulation conditions for blastomere survival overlapped those for oocyte activation in porcine. Eggs selected for in vitro development potential of blastomeres isolated from 4-cell embryos and oocyte activation by electrostimulation were equilibrated for 5~10 min, in 0.3M sucrose solution containing 7.5$\mu\textrm{g}$/ml cytochalasin B, and then electrostimulated for 30$\mu$sec using one pulse of 100, 120, 150 or 180 volts DC with electrodes 0.2mm apart. Single blastomeres were inserted into empty zona pellucida prior to electrostimulaticn. Then they were cultured in 20${mu}ell$ drops of fresh BECM to observe their developmental ability in vitro in a humidified incubat or at 38.5$^{\circ}C$. The results obtained from these experiments are as follows : 1. When one pulse of 100, 120, 150 or 180 volts DC for 30$\mu$sec were applied to porcine oocytes having the slit formed on zona pellucida for activation, activation rates were 65.1, 66.7, 70.7 and 91.7%, respectively. Higher activation rate was observed in 180V. 2. Infact oocytes incubated for 30 min, in 0.3M sucrose solution after electrostimulation were significantally different from control group with increasing of voltages(p<0.05). When voltages used for electrostimulation were increased, activation rates of oocytes were improved in all treatment groups. 3. When zona punctured-oocytes were only electrostimulated, or incubated in 0.3M sucrose solution for 30 min. after electrostimulation at 180 volt DC, activation rates were 90.5 and 95.5%, respectively. And activation rates of zona punctured-oocytes were significantly different from the groups for which zona pellucida was not punctured(P<0.05). 4. When single blastomeres form 4-cell transferred into empty zona pellucida were incubated for 0, 15 and 30 min. in 0.3M sucrose solution after electrostimulation using one pulse of 180 volt DC for 30 $\mu$sec, developmental rates of electrostimulated-single blastomeres to blastocyst were 72.5, 59.0 and 51.2%, respectively, and the ratio of control group developed to blastocyst were 80.0%. 5. The average cell number in electrostimulated-blastomeres developed to blastocyst were 7.9~10.8, and reduced than the cell number in diploid control ; Also cell number decreased with increasing of voltages. The results of these experiments indicate that the optimal condition for achieving in vitro developmental ability of single 4-cell blastomeres and oocyte activatin is 1 pulse, duration 30 $\mu$sec. in 180 volt, and incubation of blastomeres and oocytes in 0.3M sucrose solution after electrostimulation was not significantally different from another treatment groups. The results also show that this condition is suitable for nuclear transplantation using porcine eggs.

Korea has been known as volcanic disaster free area. However, recent surveying result shows that Baekdu mountain located in northernmost in the Korean peninsula is not a dormant volcano anymore. When Baekdu mountain is erupting, various damages due to the volcanic ash are expected in South Korea area. Especially, volcanic ash in the air may cause big aviation accident because it can hurt engine or gauges in the airplane. Therefore, it is a crucial issue to interrupt airplane navigation, whose route is overlapped with volcanic ash, after predicting three dimensional dispersion of volcanic ash. In this paper, we deals with 3D visualization techniques for volcanic ash dispersion prediction results. First, we introduce the data acquisition of the volcanic ash dispersion prediction. Dispersion prediction data is obtained from Fall3D model, which is volcanic ash dispersion simulation program. Next, three 3D visualization techniques for volcanic ash dispersion prediction are proposed. Firstly proposed technique is so called 'Cube in the Air', which locates the semitransparent cubes having different color depends on its particle concentration. Second technique is a 'Cube in the Cube' which divide the cube in proportion to particle concentration and locates the small cubes. Last technique is 'Semitransparent Volcanic Ash Plane', which laminates the layer, whose grids present the particle concentration, and apply the semitransparent effect. Based on the proposed techniques, the user could 3D visualize the volcanic ash dispersion prediction results upon his own purposes.

To investigate the 3-bond connectivity of human brain metabolites by scalar coupling interaction through 2D-correlation spectroscopy (COSY) techniques using high field NMR spectroscopy. All NMR experiments were performed at 298K on Unity Inova 500 or 600 (Varian Inc.) equipped with a triple resonance probe head with z-shield gradient. Human brain metabolites were prepared with 10% $D_2O$. Two dimensional 2D COSY spectra were acquired with 4096 complex data points in $t_2$ and 128 or 256 increments in $t_1$ dimension. The spectral width was 9615.4 Hz and solvent suppression was achieved using presaturation using low power irradiation of the water resonance during 2s of relaxation delay. NMR data were processed using VNMRJ (Varian Instrument) software and all the chemical shifts were referenced to the methyl resonance of N-acetyl aspartate (NAA) peak at 2.0 ppm. Total 10 metabolites such as N-acetyl aspartate (NAA), creatine (Cr), choline (Cho), glutamine (Gln), glutamate (Glu), myo-inositol (Ins), lactate (Lac), taurine (Tau), ${\gamma}$-aminobutyricacid (GABA), alanine (Ala) were included for major target metabolites. Symmetrical 2D-COSY spectra were successfully acquired. Total 14 COSY cross peaks were observed even though there were parallel/orthogonal noisy peaks induced by water suppression. Except for Cr, all of human brain metabolites produced COSY cross peaks. The spectra of NAA methyl proton at 2.02 ppm and Glu methylene proton ($CH_2(3)$) at 2.11 ppm and Gln methylene proton ($CH_2(3)$) at 2.14 ppm were overlapped in the similar resonance frequency between 2.00 ppm and 2.15 ppm. The present study demonstrated that in vitro 2D-COSY represented the 3-bond connectivity of human brain metabolites by scalar coupling interaction. This study could aid in better understanding the interactions between human brain metabolites in vivo 2D-COSY study. Also it would be helpful to determine the molecular stereochemistry in vivo by using two-dimensional MR spectroscopy.
