해저배관의 소성붕괴에 대한 기하학적 형상변화의 효과 (Effect of Geometry Variation on Plastic Collapse of Marine Pipeline)

  • 해저배관의 안전성 검토를 위하여 수압에 의한 소성붕괴 저항성을 평가하였다. 본 연구에서는 해저배관에 부가되는 주하중을 수압으로 설정하여 배관의 직경대 두께비와 ovality 변화가 배관의 소성붕괴 변화에 미치는 영향을 유한요소해석을 통하여 평가하였다. 내압은 외압에 의한 소성붕괴 저항성을 향상시켜 소성붕괴 발생 깊이를 증가시켰으며, 동일 ovality에서 local ovality를 갖는 배관은 global ovality 보다 더 깊은 붕괴 깊이를 나타내었으며, 소성붕괴 발생 깊이는 직경대 두께비의 증가 또는 ovality 증가에 따라 감소하였다.

Ovality가 세그먼트 라이닝의 동적 거동 특성에 미치는 영향 (The effect of tunnel ovality on the dynamic behavior of segment lining)

  • 쉴드 TBM 터널 라이닝은 세그먼트와 링으로 분절되어 있다. 2-링 빔-스프링 모델은 세그먼트 라이닝의 링과 세그먼트의 연결부 경계조건을 통해 불연속성을 고려하며 단면 설계 시 주로 활용하는 모델링 방법이다. 그러나 3차원 해석이 필요한 경우 대체로 Segmentation에 대한 고려 없이 연속체 라이닝으로 간주하여 세그먼트 라이닝에 대한 응력과 변위를 검토하는 경향이 일반적이다. 본 연구는 세그먼트와 링의 접촉면에 Coulomb의 마찰 법칙에 근거한 Shell interface element를 적용하여 세그먼트 간 계면 거동하는 모델링으로 지진 시 세그먼트 라이닝의 응력과 변위에 대한 응답 특성을 연구한다. 세그먼트 라이닝은 건설 과정에서 Ovaling 변형이 발생된다. 국내 세그먼트 라이닝의 Ovaling 변형에 대한 관리 기준은 없다. 스웨덴이나 중국의 경우 내경 7.0 m의 라이닝인 경우 5~10‰의 Ovality 기준을 갖고 있으나 이는 현실적으로 실현하기 어려운 기준치이다. 본 연구는 Shell interface element를 활용한 세그먼트 라이닝 모델링을 통해 지진 시 라이닝에 발생되는 응력과 변위의 특성을 연속체 모델링 결과와 비교하여 Segmentation이 고려된 라이닝의 지진에 대한 응답 특성을 연구하고 이를 통해 세그먼트 라이닝의 Ovality 기준과 의미를 연구한다. 연속체 라이닝과 세그먼트 라이닝의 지진 시 응력과 변위의 분포 양상은 유사하였다. 그러나 응력과 변위의 최댓값은 세그먼트 라이닝과 차이를 보여주었다. Shell로 모델링 된 연속체 라이닝의 지진 시 응력 분포는 3차원 원통형 형상에 연속성을 갖는 응력 분포를 보이지만 세그먼트 라이닝은 분절된 세그먼트 외측으로 응력이 집중되었고 세그먼트와 링의 접촉면이 집중되는 위치에서 가장 큰 응력이 발생되었다. 이러한 단속적이고 국부적 응력 분포는 라이닝의 Ovality가 클수록 지진 시 더욱더 국부적 집중도가 커진다. 응력 분포가 급격하게 커지는 Ovality는 150‰ 정도에서 발생되기 시작했으며 그보다 작은 Ovality 에서는 원형 단면 라이닝에서 발생되는 응력보다 작은 응력이 발생되었다. 그러나 Ovality 150‰는 실제 라이닝에서 실현될 수 없는 비현실적 값이다. 따라서 세그먼트 라이닝의 Ovality는 심도에 따라 증가될 수 있으나 지진 하중에 대한 안정성에는 큰 영향을 미치지 않는다. 그러나 터널의 단면 확보 및 품질관리를 위해서는 Ovality에 대한 계측과 관리가 요구된다.

비원형 단면의 선삭 가공시 발생하는 진동해석 (Vibration Analysis of a Lathe Performing Non-Circular Cutting)

  • This paper intends to provide an analytic vibrational model of non-circular cutting by a lathe and to investigate its stability criteria. A single degree-of-freedon model based on the orthogonal cutting theory has the characteristics of parametric excitation due to the nonlinear cutting force that changes periodically its direction as well as its magnitude. The Floquet theory has been applied to investigate the stability of the linearized system and the stability diagrams have been obtained with respect to the ovality, the cut velocity and the cut depth. Also nonlinear analysis has been performed to verify the linear analysis and compare the results with those from circular cutting. Results show that a critical cut depth is decreased as the ovality is increased while a critical cut velocity is increased as the ovality is increased. Also, a good agreement in critical conditions has been observed between the linear and nonlinear analyses for the ovality less than 2%. Accordingly, the linear analysis can be said to be applicable for most practical oval cuttings whose ovality are much less than 2%.

  • The purpose of this study is the development of a lathe which can cut any pistons of oval shape with high speed, accuracy and precision by CNC (Computer Numerical Control) method. Yaxis which is the mechanism of position determination with high speed response has been added to the CNC lathe and ovality and profile has been cut under the synchronous control of C-Y-Z axes. In the case of ovality of ø 0.5mm. the productivity can be improved up to 1500rpm by high speed cutting than modeling method.

A collapse Stress Analysis of a Heat Exchanger Subjected to External Pressure in a Nuclear Power Plant

  • The collapse pressure of tubes is determined experimentally by Tschoepe and Maison for various materials with different geometries. The results are compared with those obtained by ASME Codes UG-31 and UG-28. A collage pressure is the pressure required for the incipient yielding stress of the tubes with and without ovality. This collapse pressure is compared with the experimental results by Tschoepe and Maison. The present investigation is towards finding the collapse pressure required to bring the entire wall of tubes into a state of plastic flow for the pipes, with ovality and without ovality. This collapse pressure is compared with the collapse pressure obtained through experiments in the present investigation. The experimental results are compared with the pressure obtained by FEM(finite element methods). The FEM results are then compared with results obtained through an approximate plastic analysis of the strain hardening material, SA312-TP304 stainless steel. The structural integrity evaluation is performed for the heat exchanger used in an actual nuclear power plant by using various methods described in this paper. The results obtained by the various analyses and the FEM are discussed. consequently, the paper is oriented towards an actual design purpose of d heat exchanger in an industrial environment, rather than for the purpose of an academic research project investigation.

COLLAPSE PRESSURE ESTIMATES AND THE APPLICATION OF A PARTIAL SAFETY FACTOR TO CYLINDERS SUBJECTED TO EXTERNAL PRESSURE

  • The present paper investigates the collapse pressure of cylinders with intermediate thickness subjected to external pressure based on detailed elastic-plastic finite element (FE) analyses. The effect of the initial ovality of the tube on the collapse pressure was explicitly considered in the FE analyses. Based on the present FE results, the analytical yield locus, considering the interaction between the plastic collapse and local instability due to initial ovality, was also proposed. The collapse pressure values based on the proposed yield locus agree well with the present FE results; thus, the validity of the proposed yield locus for the thickness range of interest was verified. Moreover, the partial safety factor concept based on the structural reliability theory was also applied to the proposed collapse pressure estimation model, and, thus, the priority of importance of respective parameter constituting for the collapse of cylinders under external pressure was estimated in this study. From the application of the partial safety factor concept, the yield strength was concluded to be the most sensitive, and the initial ovality of tube was not so effective in the proposed collapse pressure estimation model. The present deterministic and probabilistic results are expected to be utilized in the design and maintenance of cylinders subjected to external pressure with initial ovality, such as the once-through type steam generator.

  • Recently, the development of high speed and high precision NC-lathe for piston head machining is needed for the complexity and diversity of the piston head shape used in automobile reciprocating engine. THe piston head has many complex shapes in the aspect of fuel economy, such as ovality, profile, double ovality and recess. Among them, for the maching of the over shape of 0.1~1mm the cutting tool should move periodically symchronized with the rotation of piston workpiece. The cutting tool feeed system must have high positioning accuracy for the precise machining, high speed for the fast maching and high dynamic stiffness for the cutting force. The linear brushless DC motor is used for satisfying these coditions. The ballbush guide and supporting guide using turcite is used for the guidance of the feed drive system. Linear encoder, digital servo ampllifer and controller are used for driving the motor. THis paper presents the design and simulation of the new tool feed system for noncircular machining.

  • Control system for cutting piston used in vehicle that is one of the 3D shape cutting using CNC lathe is presented. In order to cut the hybrid piston shape using CNC lathe, defined piston shape and change into machine code. The control software was developed for the high speed piston shape cutting. In this paper, the performance of this software was evaluated practically. As a result, the evaluated cutting precision was quantitatively compared with theoretical precision. Also the productivity and the quality by using CNC lathe with control software were evaluated those by using profiling.

  • The purpose of this study si the development of a lathe which can cut any pistons of oval shape with high seed, accuracy and precision by CNC (Computer Numerical Control) method. Yaxis which is the position determinating mechanism with high speed response was added to the CNC lathe and the ovality and profile was cut under the control of C-Y-Z axes at same tile. In the case of ovality of $\Phi$ improved up to 2500rpm(Y axis : 83Hz) by high speed cutting than modeling method. Since a personal computer is used, it is easy to change the shape of piston and can be applied promptly to many types of piston shape by only changing data files.
