  • We present a CMOS rail-to-rail class-AB amplifier using dynamic current biasing to improve the delay response of the error amplifier in a low-dropout (LDO) regulator, which is a building block for a wireless power transfer receiver. The response time of conventional error amplifiers deteriorates by slewing due to parasitic capacitance generated at the pass transistor of the LDO regulator. To enhance slewing, an error amplifier with dynamic current biasing was devised. The LDO regulator with the proposed error amplifier was fabricated in a $0.35-{\mu}m$ high-voltage BCDMOS process. We obtained an output voltage of 4 V with a range of input voltages between 4.7 V and 7 V and an output current of up to 212 mA. The settling time during line transient was measured as $9{\mu}s$ for an input variation of 4.7-6 V. In addition, an output capacitor of 100 pF was realized on chip integration.

  • A linear-prediction-based blind equalization algorithm for single-input single-output (SISO) finite impulse response/infinite impulse response (FIR/IIR) channels is proposed. The new algorithm is based on second-order statistics, and it does not require channel order estimation. By oversampling the channel output, the SISO channel model is converted to a special single-input multiple-output (SIMO) model. Two forward linear predictors with consecutive prediction delays are applied to the subchannel outputs of the SIMO model. It is demonstrated that the partial parameters of the SIMO model can be estimated from the difference between the prediction errors when the length of the predictors is sufficiently large. The sufficient filter length for achieving the optimal prediction is also derived. Based on the estimated parameters, both batch and adaptive minimum-mean-square-error equalizers are developed. The performance of the proposed equalizers is evaluated by computer simulations and compared with existing algorithms.

  • The current type amplifier is the device that is used for an actuator as the motor's torque controller. However, it is too difficult to select the parameter value that has the desired output because the current type amplifier's transfer function is too complex. This study concern about the design of the current type amplifier with the desired output. From the modeled transfer function of the current type amplifier, the optimal parameter values of the transfer function can be selected in order to have the desired output using the Real Coded Genetic Algorithm(RCGA). The real circuit is made with the selected parameter value. The step response of the real circuit is in good agreement with the desired step response.

  • The study estimates the Structured VAR and the Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Model for the Vietnamese economy based on the new Keynesian model for small and open economies, with the output gap, inflation, policy interest rate, the Vietnamese exchange rate, and the inflation and interest rate in the United States. The paper aims to clarify the impulse response of the macro variables through their shocks. It offers to model the SVAR and DSGE processes, as well as describe why and how interest rate policy is important in the impulse response of macro variables like the output gap and inflation process. The study supports the central role of monetary policy by giving empirical evidence for the new Keynesian theory, according to which an interest rate shock causes the output gap to widen and inflation to decrease. Finally, the application of the DSGE model is becoming more and more popular in the State Bank of Viet Nam to improve its policy planning, analyzing, and forecasting policy towards sustainable and stable growth.

  • In spite of nonlinear or step-changing load and line disturbances, the inverter for the UPS must provide the pure sinusoidal output voltage with low THD(Total Harmonics Distortion). This paper proposes an inverter controller for the UPS which has a good dynamic response characteristic and robustness for applying industrial world directly. The inverter output voltage is controlled instantaneously with a double regulation loop by a TMS320C31 Digital Signal Processor so that it has very good dynamic response for nonlinear or step-changing load and line disturbances. To improve the voltage utilization and response characteristics, the Space Vector Modulation(SVM) technique is adapted for the switching method of this system. The characteristics of the proposed control system were verified by simulations and experiments.

  • We propose a new switching control scheme for a ball and beam system by utilizing two linearization methods. First, the Jacobian linearization is applied and state observer is developed afterward. Then, motivated [6], the approximate input-output linearization is carried out, and after that, the Jacobian linearization is applied along with the design of state observer. Since the second approach requires two linearizations, it is called a two-step linearization method. The state observer is needed for the estimation of the velocities of ball and motor movement. Since the Jacobian linearization based controller tends to provide faster response at the initial time, and after that, the two-step linearization based controller tends to provide better response in terms of output overshoot and convergence to the origin, it is natural to give a switching control scheme to provide the best overall control response. The validity of our control scheme is shown in both simulation and experimental results.

  • Extra-corporeal Life Support System (ECLS) is the device used in emergency cases to substitute a extracorporeal circulation in open heart surgery, cardiac arrest or in acute cardiopulmonary failure. To obtain the effect of counter-pulsation on hemodynamic response in the ECLS quantitatively, we developed cardiovascular model which consists of 12 compartment model of heldt et al. and 3 compartment model of Schreiner et al. based on windkessel approximation. We compared coronary perfusion, arterial pulse pressure, cardiac output, and left ventricular pressure-volume diagram according to flow configuration such as counter-pulsation, copulsation, and continous flow. When counter-pulsation was applied, 5% higher coronary perfusion, 26% lower pulse pressure, and 2% higher cardiac output than copulsation condition were calculated. We conclude that counter-pulsation configuration in the ECLS is hemodynamically more stable than copulsation and influences the positive effect to recover ventricles.

  • The electric power output characteristics of magnesium fuel cell were investigated with regard to internal resistance. A equivalent circuit with the series-connected three internal resistance was introduced to analyze of the response to change of power. The power output analysis was employed in order to investigate the effect of internal resistances for the electrolyte concentration, air electrode area, Mg electrode area and distance between the electrodes. It was confirmed that internal resistance is generated by the electrolyte, air electrode and metal electrode, then those Internal resistances had a significant effect on the power output decrease. The power output was a maximum when the load resistance maches the internal resistance of the magnesium fuel cell. The fuel efficiency was only 50% at maximum power output. Higher fuel efficiency was achieved when the load resistance is greater than the internal resistance.

  • A PID controller must need not only good servo response but also little operation of a control valve. We suggest a direct pole-placement PID self-tuning algorithm using the structure of derivative-of-output controller and Bezout identity. This algorithm can much reduce the change of output of controller and well follow the desired trajectory.

  • In general, the quality of a welding process tends to vary with depending on the work environment or external disturbances. Hence, in order to achieve the desirable quality of welding, we should have the optimal welding condition that is not significantly affected by these changes in the environment or external disturbances. In this study, we used a dual response surface method in consideration of both the mean output variables and the standard deviation in order to optimize the V-groove arc welding process. The input variables for GMA welding process with the dual response surface are welding voltage, welding current and welding speed. The output variables are the welding quality function using the shape factor of bead geometry. First, we performed welding experiment on the interested area according to the central composite design. From the results obtained, we derived the regression model on the mean and standard deviation between the input and output variables of the welding process and then obtained the dual response surface. Finally, using the grid search method, we obtained the input variables that minimize the object function which led to the optimal V-groove arc welding process.
