Optimal Unity Power Factor Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with q-axis Field by Inverse LQ Method

  • A synchronous motor(SM) with q-axis special field winding of which the q-axis field-current compensates and cancels armature reaction can be driven at unity power factor under the conditions of transient state as well as steady state. The motor operates in high efficiency in all conditions. However, in order to obtain maximum performance of the motor, it is required that the time constant of armature circuit corresponds to that of q-axis field circuit. Inverse LQ(ILQ) design method on a basis of the pole assignment is suitable for this problem:(1) The time constants of the output responses can be designed for desired specifications, (2) Relations between feedback gains and response of closed loop system are very clear and (3) Optimal solutions can be given by simple procedure of ILQ method without solving the Ricaati's equation, compared to the usual LQ design method. Accordingly, the ILQ method can make the responses of armature current and q-axis field-current correspond. In this paper, it is proved by numerical simulations and experiments that the ILQ method is very effective for optimal regulator design of this plant and realizes a high-performance motor with unity power factor and high efficiency.

  • The avionic battery discharge regulator (BDR) plays an important role in a power-conditioning unit. With its merits of high efficiency, stable transfer function, and continuous input and output currents, the non-isolated Weinberg converter (NIWC) is suitable for avionic BDR. An improved peak current control strategy is proposed to achieve high current-sharing accuracy. Current and voltage regulators are designed based on a small signal model of a three-module NIWC system. The system with the designed regulators operates stably under any condition and achieves excellent transient response and current-sharing accuracy.

유도전동기용 이상 PI형 속도제어기의 구성 (The Implementation of a Discrete PI Speed Controller for an Induction Motor)

  • In this paper, non-linear state equations for a 3-phase, 220V, 0.4 KW, squirrel cage induction motor have been derived using the d-q transformation and then these equations have been linearized around an operating point by a small perturbation method. Root loci on the s-plane with repect to the changes of slip S and supply frequency f have been studied. Based on the above results, the derived linear state equations have been augmented to the 6th order, including the output velocity feedback and a discrete PI speed controller. Using the new state equations, stability regions on the Kp-Kl plane have been investigated for slip S and sampling time T. In designing a discrete PI controller, the coefficients Kp and Kl around the normal operating point (220V,1,692rpm,60Hz)have been chosen under the assumptions that each response to a perturbation input of reference speed and load torque be underdamped and dominated by a pair of complex poles. Step responses in the experimental system using an Intel SDK-86 and an optimized PWM inverter show satisfactory results that the maximum overshoots and damped frequency are well coincided with ones from the computer simulation.

  • Power exchanges between the grid and the battery through a bidirectional DC-DC converter are essential for DC microgrid systems. In general, the battery is charged when the grid is connected, and the system is powered by the battery when the grid is disconnected. In this mode transition, the saturation of the voltage controller slows down output response and produces large transient errors in DC link voltage. To solve this problem, a novel anti-windup design is proposed to improve anti-windup performance further. The proposed method stabilizes DC bus voltage through a wider range of battery voltage with faster transition compared with that of conventional methods. The proposed method is verified through an experimental setup composed of a 125 W laboratory-scale DC microgrid system.

  • 기계적 진동 주파수와 파형, 2점식별 thresho1d 치, 접촉자의 크기에 대한 피체 진동촉각의 기능적 성질을 심리물리실험에 의해 연구했다. 이의 실험 결과를 기초로 하여 압전 진동소자를 이용한 진동촉각 자극장치를 제작하여 한글을 인식하기 위한 맹인용 시각보조 장치로써 제안했다. 촉각출력상은 200 Hz의 구형파에 의해 진동하는 8열×l행의 소형 진동자열에 의해 집게 손가락에 표시했다. NOVA미니컴퓨터의 제어에 의해 한글 자모 24자중 하나를 택하여 진동자열의 8점에 왼쪽에서 오른쪽으로 제시하도록 했다. 한글 식별률실험은 설계한 실험시스템에 의해 학습효과없이 행했으며 측정된 평균식별률은 90%였다.

An Analysis of Future Ship Operation System under the e-navigation Environment

  • It is clearly understood that e-navigation is beneficial to prevent collision and grounding of ships. The purpose of this study is to define and present a future ship operation system under the e-navigation environment in order to provide clear direction for the design of Korean e-navigation system. The future ship operation system consists of shipboard navigational system, shore supporting system and maritime communication system. To achieve the objectives of this study, the ship operation system was discussed separately into SOLAS ships and non-SOLAS ships in this study. In SOLAS ships, mariners become a system manager, choosing system presets, interpreting system output, and monitoring vessel response. In small ships and fishing vessels, mariners may enjoy their navigation by using the automatic tracking of ship's position on the portable electronic chart display. The improved bridge design, integrated and harmonized navigational system and single window reporting will reduce significantly the administrative and physical workload of mariners. Mariners can concentrate their attention more on navigational duty under the e-navigation environment. To build an effective Korean e-navigation system, the essential navigational functions and e-navigation services for small ships and fishing vessels must be identified and developed taking into account user needs.

  • It was noted by the several researchers that the voltage outputs in response to a single yawed hot-wire sensor in a flow perpendicular to the axis deviate from the theoretical voltage output by King's law and Jorgensen's relation. This study noticed that the calibration coefficients of original Grande's method are not constant and fairly sensitive to the radial angle (${\alpha}_{R}$). For more accuracy, this study interpolated the parameters of the Grande relation as a function of radial angle and compared velocity components with ones by Jorgensen and original Grande relation in the calibration jet flow. Finally, as a test case, 3-dimensional turbulent flows of the inlet plane of 180 degree bend are measured and compared the velocity components by above three methods and showed the characteristics of the flows.

  • 풍력발전기와 같은 신재생에너지원은 기존 동기화력발전기의 특성과 매우 다르기 때문에, 상정고장과 같은 가혹한 상황에서는 주파수 변동에 신속히 대응하지 못하므로 주파응답성능을 저하시킬 수 밖에 없다. 특히, 풍력발전의 수용률이 높은 상황에서 상정고장이 발생한 경우, 전력계통에 안정화를 위해서 풍력발전의 수용이 더욱 제한될 가능성이 잠재되어 있다. 이를 위해, 본 논문에서는 풍력발전의 전력계통 동적 수용한계를 산정하는 절차를 구현하고, 산출된 결과로부터 풍력발전의 동적 수용한계를 증대시키기 위한 BESS의 적용방안을 모색하였다.

  • 동기발전기 출력전압은 여자시스템의 계자전류 제어에 의해 일정하게 유지된다. 고주파 PWM 컨버터(전류제어 모드 buck 컨버터) 형태의 여자시스템은 부하변동이 발생하였을 때 동기발전기의 계자전류를 제어하게 된다. 이 논문은 정상상태 및 과도상태에서의 안정화를 개선하기 위하여 여자시스템의 설계 및 실험에 대해 다루었다. 시뮬레이션 및 실험 결과는 제안된 여자시스템이 50[kW] 동기발전기의 DVR에 의해 응답시간이 개선되었음을 보여주었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 자기 소호 능력을 가지고 있는 전력용 반도체 소자로 구성된 3상 PWM Boost 컨버터를 이용하여 기존의 정류기에서 나타나는 문제점들을 해결하고, 입력 전류와 역률을 개선하기 위한 전류제어 기법을 제시한다. 이 컨버터의 전류제어는 부하에 관계없이 항상 일정한 스위칭 주파수로 동작되는 예측 전류제어 기법을 적용하고 있으며, 선전류는 한 샘플링 시간 구간내에서 기준 전류를 추종하게 된다. 이 제어 기법을 사용하므로서 입력 전류의 파형이 거의 정현파에 가까워져 역률도 거의 1로되고, 작은 DC링크 캐패시터를 적용함에도 불구하고 출력 전류와 전압의 리플이 적으며, 다이나믹 응답 특성도 매우 양호하게 나타난다.
