  • This paper deals with adaptive control method of a robot manipulator with one-flexible link. ARMA model is used as a prediction and estimation model, and adaptive control scheme consists of parameter estimation part and adaptive controller. Parameter estimation part estimates ARMA model's coefficients by using recursive least-squares(RLS) algorithm and generates the predicted output. Variable forgetting factor (VFF) is introduced to achieve an efficient estimation, and adaptive controller consists of reference model, error dynamics model and minimum prediction error controller. An optimal input is obtained by minimizing input torque, it's successive input change and the error between the predicted output and the reference output.

  • This paper presents the observer design method for discrete-time nonlinear systems with delayed output. It is shown that by considering a nonlinear term of error dynamics as an additional state variable, the discrete-time nonlinear error dynamics with time delay can be transformed into the discrete-time linear one with time delay. Sufficient conditions for existence of state observer are characterized by linear matrix inequalities. Finally, an illustrative example is given in order to show the effectiveness of our design method.

  • In this paper, we propose an iterative interstream interference cancellation technique for system with frequency selective multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel. Our method is inspired by the fact that the cancellation of the interstream interference can be regarded as a reduction in the magnitude of the interfering channel. We show that, as iteration goes on, the channel experienced by the equalizer gets close to the single input multiple output (SIMO) channel and, therefore, the proposed SIMO-like equalizer achieves improved equalization performance in terms of normalized mean square error. From simulations on downlink communications of $2{\times}2$ MIMO systems in high speed packet access universal mobile telecommunications system standard, we show that the proposed method provides substantial performance gain over the conventional receiver algorithms.

  • Error Correcting Output Coding(ECOC) is used to solve multi-class problem. It is known that it improves the classification accuracy. In this paper, we compared various criteria to design code matrix while encoding. In addition. we prorpose an ensemble which uses the ability of each classifier while decoding. We investigate the justification of the proposed method through real data and synthetic data.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive algorithm based on a method of dynamic error signal generation suitable for signal state by examining the equalizer output signal in blind equalization. In the proposed method, it estimates the error signals using single modulus and multiple modulus each effective to the early stage of equalization or steady-state, and it generates a new error signal from the two error estimates. Two equalizer structures are implemented and their performances are compared: 1-equalizer structure that generates a new error signal by combining the two error estimates weightedly and updates the equalizer using this, and 2-equalizer structure that updates two equalizers respectively depending on the weights of the two error signals. In the proposed method, as the error signals were generated optimally before and after the initial convergence respectively, it was confirmed by computer simulations that the equalizer was updated effectively.

  • After the vibration source is searched in optical disk drive as an information storage device broadly used the influence of it against FES(Focusing Error Signal) which is a kind of positioning error of pick up from the circuit is carefully examined. For that Purpose, partial coherence function method is applied on a simple multi-degree of freedom model made for the theoretical verification and it is practically introduced in optical disk drive for analyzing the effect of vibration source. Finally, partial coherence output spectrum is attentively observed in order to know which vibration source is a great influence on FES.

  • Adaptive output feedback control technique using Neural Networks(NN) is proposed for uncertain nonlinear Multi-Input Multi-Output(MIMO) systems. Modified Dynamic Inversion Model(MDIM) is introduced to decouple uncertain nonlinearities from inversion-based control input. MDIM consists of approximated dynamic inversion model and inversion model error. One NN is applied to compensate the MDIM of the system. The output of the NN augments the tracking controller which is based upon a filtered error approximation with online weight adaptation laws which are derived from Lyapunov's direct method to guarantee tracking performance and ultimate boundedness. Several numerical results are illustrated in the simulation of Van der Pol system and unmanned helicopter with model uncertainties.

  • In this paper, a codeword-dependent distance normalization(CDDN) and an instar-formed fuzzy smoothing of output distribution are proposed for robust estimation of output probabilities in the FVQ(fuzzy vector quantization)-DHMM(discrete hidden Markov model). The FVQ-DHMM is a variant of DHMM in which the state output probability is estimated by the sum oft he product of the output probability and its weighting factor for each codeword on an input vector. As the performance of the FVQ-DHMM is influenced by weighting factor and output distribution from a state, it is required to get a method to get robust estimation of weighting factors and output distribution for each state. From experimental results, the proposed CDDN method has reduced 24% of error rate over the conventional FVQ-DHMM, and also reduced 79% of error rate when the smoothing of output distribution is also applied to the computation of an output probability. These results indicate that the use of CDDN and the fuzzy smoothing of output distribution to the FVQ-DHMM lead to improved recognition, and therefore it may be used as an alternative to the robust estimation of output probabilities for HMMs.

  • This study examined the following: accuracy of the exposure conditions in the inverter device and three-phase device; output waveform over the exposure conditions; and average and standard deviation of the output waveform. After assessing whether the dose corresponding to the theoretical dose was presented, the following conclusions were obtained: 1. The accuracy of the tube voltage(kVp) and tube current(mA) exposure time(sec) was within the tolerable level prescribed in Korea's Safety Management Standards. In the error, Inverter device was large the tube voltage and exposure time, the three-phase device was large the tube current. 2. In terms of the output waveform of the exposure conditions and the average and standard deviation of the output waveform, the higher tube voltage and larger tube current resulted in greater standard deviation in pulsation. Moreover, the standard deviation of pulsation was shown to be greater in the inverter device than the three-phase device; there was also greater standard deviation in the inverter device considering the exposure time. 3. Regarding the exposure conditions over the output dose, all linearity showed the coefficient of variation which had an allowable limit of error within 0.05. Although the output dose ratio for the inverter device was 1.00~1.10 times no difference that of the three-phase device, there was almost no difference in dose ratio between the tube currents.

  • An adjoint-based error estimation and mesh adaptation study is conducted for two-dimensional viscous flows on unstructured hybrid meshes. The error in an integral output functional of interest is estimated by a dot product of the residual vector and adjoint variable vector. Regions for the mesh to be adapted are selected based on the amount of local error at each nodal point. Triangular cells in the adaptive regions are refined by regular refinement, and quadrangular cells near viscous walls are bisected accordingly. The present procedure is applied to single-element airfoils such as the RAE2822 at a transonic regime and a diamond-shaped airfoil at a supersonic regime. Then the 30P30N multi-element airfoil at a low subsonic regime with a high incidence angle (${\alpha}=21deg.$) is analyzed. The same level of prediction accuracy for lift and drag is achieved with much less mesh points than the uniform mesh refinement approach. The detailed procedure of the adjoint-based mesh refinement for the multi-element airfoil case show that the basic flow features around the airfoil should be resolved so that the adjoint method can accurately estimate an output error.
