Purpose - This paper examines customers' perception on intra-industry and inter-industry alliance, then compares customer purchasing attitude towards alliance product according to whether it is from high-tech or low-tech industry. Research design, data, and methodology - We used qualitative research methodology of in-depth interviews and focus group interviews. Results - Customers expect products from inter-industry alliance to be highly innovative but also to be inferior in technology. In high-tech industries, since technology is more important than differentiation, inter-industry alliance was negatively evaluated whereas intra-industry alliance elicited positive customer purchasing attitude. Conversely, in low-tech industry where novelty outweighs technology, inter-industry alliance earned positive evaluation. However, for intra-industry alliance, customers' evaluation varied depending on whether both partners share similar prestige and price range. When partners were not similar to each other, customers' perception were positive for less prestigious and pricey brand, but in the reverse case, perception were negative. Conclusions - This research focused on customers' perception and attitude by adopting qualitative methodology while other alliance studies are mostly based on quantitative research. This study provides managers with partner selecting guidelines considering the type of industry, and whether the goal is to enhance novelty or technology.

This paper aims to provide an overview of customer trust toward Islamic banks, and to study the effect of trust on the selection of Islamic banks services. A total 375 questionnaires were distributed to the three groups of bank customers, i.e. Islamic banks customers, conventional banks customers, and customers of both banks (125 respondents in each group). Trust is measured based on three constructs, namely Ability, Integrity, and Benevolence. To test the hypothesis this study employs Analysis of Variance and Tukey Test. The results show that bank customers have degree of trust towards Islamic banks relatively high enough, although among the respondents had never become customers of Islamic banks. Benevolence as the dimension with the lowest average score revealed the Islamic banks are more believed as a competent and honest bank in carrying out the business than the bank that will work for the benefit of customers. Other findings suggest that degree of trust have significant affects on the decision for using the Islamic banks services. The positive values that embedded in the concepts and systems of the Islamic is the key to improving the competitiveness of Islamic banks.
Professional coffee shops are trying to increase customers' satisfaction and to invite more customers by providing the differentiated services. The existing researches show that the effects which the physical environment in shops has on customers' satisfaction and word of mouth intention are appealing to people's attention. In comprehensively examining the studies related to the physical environment, they can be summarized into two main perspectives, that is, the direct effect that the physical environment has on customers' satisfaction, quality perception, and other customers' responses (purchase desire, revisit intention, etc.) and the indirect effect that the physical environment has on customers' responses by means of customers' emotion or value perception. This research established 4 hypotheses by sampling 321 customers of those who have visited professional coffee shops, and empirically analyzed them. The empirical analysis carried out the structure analysis of covariance by using SPSS 17.0 statistics package and AMOS 17.0. As a result of the hypothesis qualification, the other hypotheses excluding one little hypothesis were adopted. The one refused hypothesis is that the only symbolism of the environmental elements in shops doesn't influence the customers' emotion positively (+). This is considered as a very unexpected result, and yet many customers who visit coffee shops express the symbols of professional coffee shops using the expressions such as 'bean coffee shop' or 'star coffee shop', but these expressions seem not to influence customers' mind positively in practice.
As customers' participation in B2C e-commerce increases, customers are getting more involved in the delivery of services, which may even go beyond the completion of service transactions. To examine such proactive extra-role online customer behavior, we delve into organizational citizenship behavior framework, which has been recently extended to examine customer citizenship behavior (CCB) in the service market area. Although CCB is vital for online retailing success, MIS and e-commerce research efforts have generally focused on the customer's customer coproduction that are customer in-role behaviors. Moreover, although the effect of information created by anonymous strangers on other customers increase, interpersonal trust research have focused on only the relationship between a seller and a customer. Therefore, this study attempts to answer two research questions: What are motivational factors that affect CCB? How differently do the two kinds of interpersonal trusts (trust in online retailer and trust in customers) influence customers?

An interesting problem in capacitated supply chains is how to guarantee customer service levels with limited resources. One of the common approaches to solve the problem is differentiating service depending on customer classes. High-priority customers receive a better service at the cost of low-priority customers' service level. One of common criteria to determine a customer's priority in practice is whether he has made a reservation before arrival or not. Customers with a reservation usually receive service based on the time the reservation was made. We examine the effect this advance information of customer arrival has on customer service levels. We show the trade-offs between the leadtime and other system characteristics such as the proportion of high-priority customers. when the service level is high. We also suggest how to differentiate service using the asymptotic ratio of the service levels for both types of customers.
An important aspects of power system design involves consideration of service reliability requirements of load to be supplied and service reliability provided by any proposed system. This paper shows the investigation of the 1984 KEPCO service reliability to the large electric consumer whose contracted maximum demand is over 500 kw. 68 customers of the total 111 investigated are located in Myungdong area and Yuido in Seoul. Of the customers are included hotel Lotte, Giobo and Seoul national University Hospital. The average service reliability of Myungdong area customers is 316min/yr/customer and about 7 times/yr/customer, and 160 min, 6 times for Yuido. Which the service reliability the interruption and the interruption frequency which caused by the customers receiving facilities were showed. The investigation is telling that the service reliability of the underground distribution area are very superior to the other area reliability. The investigated reliability seem not appropriate to be improved by change of distribution System as well as equipments and facilities improvement in the near future.
The impacts of electric service interruption to customers depend on customer and interruption characteristics. Customer characteristics include demographic aspects(residential type, and number of household members) and power supply types whereas interruption characteristics include frequency, duration, time, and day of interruption. Accordingly evaluation of these customer interruption costs is very complicated and subjective. For residential customers, customer survey method seems most appropriate because interruption impact to residential customers is intangible. In other words, the value of housework or lost leisure due to interruption is individual. Accordingly, this paper selected the customer survey method to assess the interruption costs for residential customers.
Purpose The business ecosystem perspective offers a new lens in which to view customers. Customers as the member of business ecosystems influence firms by participating in both the firm level activities and the business ecosystem level activities. For example, customers participate in the business ecosystems by forming interest groups, allowing their voice to be heard the within business ecosystems. Customers can also, turn public opinion around and foster the business ecosystems favorable to firms. On the other hand, as an extreme case of customer participation, customers can engage in community activities to boycott the purchase of products or services from certain firms or business ecosystems. Design/methodology/approach This study views content creation and feedback activities as customer participation in the firm level. On the other hand, word-of-mouth (WOM) and boycott activities are considered as customer participation in the business ecosystem level. This study presents a research model regarding the relationships among customer socialization, customer participation, and psychological ownership. The proposed model is validated through an empirical analysis on online platform business ecosystems. Findings When the two business ecosystems are compared, different results were drawn. In the Facebook ecosystem, boycott and psychological ownership did not have a significant relationship. However, in the Kakao ecosystem, the two had a significant positive relationship. The mediating effect of the business ecosystem type sheds a light on the mission, purpose, vision, and other values associated with the theory of the business on the customer-firm relationship. Further implications for theory and practice were discussed in this study.

The research mainstream has focused on improving the competitiveness throughout the reinforcement of customer satisfaction and loyalty in the banking industry, but there is still a lack of research that reflects characteristics of banking services. From a customer point of view, this study considers a variety of bank characteristics such as levels of interest rate, numbers of transaction banks, monthly average balance, and age. In line with this observation, the main objective of the current research is to investigate the relationship between bank characteristics and ongoing transaction intentions with a particular bank using a categorial regression analysis and in turn, provide insights for managers. First, the findings show that deposit interest rate is insignificant for leading customers to ongoing transaction intentions, but loan interest rate is significant when customers are satisfied with a loan interest rate. Second, if customers only transact their banking services with a particular bank, they are more likely to deal with the bank, rather than customers who transact additional one or two banks. Third, in the case of monthly average balance, customers who have more than \100 million wons per month are likely to switch other competitors. Finally, old customers are more stable than young customers when they consider to switch the relationship with a bank. The author provides insights for bank managers and discusses research limitations and further directions of the study.
