  • In this study, Le Corbusier's ideas were investigated from the view point of modern dualism. Le Corbusier, pioneer of modern architecture, insisted a rationalistic architecture for the industrial period, considering a house as 'machine for living'. In the other way, he tried to arouse emotions through architecture, mentioning a house as 'machine for affecting'. In his writings and paintings, he divided the world in the two opposed things (ex: human and nature, reason and sensation, chaos and order, orthogonal and libre curve, man and woman, sun and moon, lightness and darkness, bull and woman, and etc), and tried to combined the these two divided things. In architecture, he amalgamated his white buildings with the green vegetation, which is styled in the harmony of contrast(nature and articial). In urbanism, Le Corbusier did not divide nature only into three material elements for living(sunlight, air, green space), but also pursued poetic and aesthetic nature through buildings under the rays of sun and among the vegetation. Le Corbusier's dualistic ideas are based on Descartes's modern dualism, which divided the world into the material and the spiritual and into the objective and the subjective. Due to this original division, modern dualism contains the limits of extreme subjectification on human signification and of separation from the world and nature. Le Corbusier pursued the combination of the two divided things to overcome the contradiction of dualism, but his ideas and works contain the limits of the modern dualism.

  • In order to analyze the similarity of the source code object material, the source code on both sides must be able to be compiled and executed. In particular, in the case of hardware-integrated software, it is necessary to check whether the hardware interface matches. However, currently, the source code is provided in an incomplete state which is not original of source code used in developing steps. The complainant confirms that the executing characteristics are similar to their own in the expression and function of the output, and request an evaluation. When a source code compilation error occurs during the evaluation process, the experts draw a flowchart of the source code and applies the method of tracing the code flow for each function as indirect method. However, this method is indirect and the subjective judgment is applied, so there is concern about the contention of objectivity in the similarity evaluation result. In this paper, the problems of unverified source code similarity analysis and improvement directions are dealt with, through the analysis cases of source code disputes applied to embedded systems.

  • The 3D ultrasonic anemometer transmits measured data by connecting PC and RS232C interface. Depending on the observation location, it is often necessary to extend the cable connecting the PC and the sensor. When installing on the test bed of the Air Meteorological Agency, the original AWM2919 cable was required to be extended because the distance between the PC container and the equipment installation site was more than 30 m. The cable was extended through a process such as extending the AWM2919 cable, converting the interface with the PC from RS232C to RS485, and testing the RS485 communication. After the equipment was installed with an extended cable, data were remotely collected and analyzed to confirm successful cable extension.

  • 50 year-old masonry buildings which had been constructed using lime mortar have caused lots of problems because of using different material, cement mortar, when they repair them. Also, there is little information on structural capacities and details of masonry buildings built using lime mortar. In addition, it is difficult to evaluate the structural capacities of the buildings which were often constructed by untrained labors. To preserve the original masonry construction, the study on their construction materials and methodologies has to be carried out. This paper provides basic information for establishing standard details of masonry works using lime mortar in order to overcome these problems when cultural properties are repaired or retrofitted. To do this, compression tests of lime mortar were preformed with the parameters of mixing ratios, mixing material, curing time and curing conditions etc. Based on the test results, the differences between lime mortar and cement mortar were specified and the structural characteristics of lime mortar were also presented in this paper.

  • The metamorphic rocks of Yongin-Anseong area in Gyeonggi massif are composed of high-grade gneisses and schists which are considered as Precambrian basement, and Jurassic granite which intruded the metamorphic rocks. In this paper, we discuss the geochemical characteristics of metamorphic rocks and granites in this area based on REE and Nd isotope geochemistry. And we also discuss the petrogenetic relationship between metamorphic rocks and granites in this area. Most of Nd model ages (T$\_$DM/$\^$Nd/) from the metamorphic rocks range ca. 2.6Ga~2.9Ga which are correspond to the main crustal formation stage in Gyeonggi massif by Lee et. al. (2003). And Nd model ages show that the source material of quartzofeldspathic gneiss is slightly older than that of biotite banded gneiss. In chondrite-normalized rare earth element pattern, the range of (La/Yb)$\_$N/ value from biotite banded gneiss is 37~136, which shows sharp gradient and suggests that biotite banded gneiss was originated from a strongly fractionated source material. However, that of amphibolite is 4.65~6.64, which shows nearly flattened pattern. Particularly, the chondrite normalized REE patterns from the high-grade metamorphic rocks show the REE geochemisoy of original source material before metamorphism. In addition, the values of (La/Yb)$\_$N/ and Nd model ages of granite are 32~40 and 1.69Ga~2.08Ga, respectively, which suggest that the source material of granite is different from that of Precambrian basement such as biotite banded gneiss and quartzofeldspthic gneiss in the area.

  • Several effective treatment methods and materials have been developed for the treatment of furcation involvement. Currently, the combination of guided tissue regeneration (GTR) and bone grafts is the most commonly prescribed method of treating furcation involved defects. But because these cases often present with poor accessibility, placement of the membrane may be difficult and consequently, clinically impractical. In this study, the alveolar bone healing patterns of adult beagle dogs presenting with alveolar bone destruction treated by one of two methods - treatment using solely bone allografts (BBP(R)), or treatment using bone allografts (BBP(R)) stabilized by a fibrin adhesive - were comp ared. The effects of the fibrin adhesive on the initial stabilization of the newly formed bone, subsequent regeneration of bone, and the feasibility of the clinical application of the fibrin adhesive were analyzed. The results of the study were as follows: 1. Clinical signs of inflammation at the 4-8 week interval were not observed: but signs of mild inflammation were histologically observed at the 4-week interval. 2. Allografts stabilized by fibrin adhesive showed good bone formation, whereas defects treated with only the allograft material showed incomplete alveolar bone regeneration. 3. Allografts stabilized by fibrin adhesive showed a decrease in the amount old bone with a concurrent increase in the formation of new lamellar bone four weeks post-op, whereas defects treated with only the allograft material showed no new lamellar bone formation at the same interval. 4. In detects treated with only the allograft material, the defective area was filled with connective tissue 8-weeks post-op, whereas fibrin adhesive stabilized allografts showed viable connections between the original bone and the newly formed bone, in addition to neovascularization 8-weeks post-op. The results of this study show that concurrent use of fibrin adhesive materials can stabilize the allograft material and aid in new bone formation Although the stability of fibrin adhesives fall short of the results achievable by GTR membranes, in cases presenting with poor accessibility that contraindicate the use of membranes, fibrin adhesive materials provide a viable and effective alternative to graft stabilization and new bone formation.

  • All the forces in the real world act dynamically on structures. Design and analysis should be performed based on the dynamic loads for the safety of structures. Dynamic (transient or vibrational) responses have many peaks in the time domain. Topology optimization, which gives an excellent conceptual design, mainly has been performed with static loads. In topology optimization, the number of design variables is quite large and considering the peaks is fairly costly. Topology optimization in the frequency domain has been performed to consider the dynamic effects; however, it is not sufficient to fully include the dynamic characteristics. In this research, linear dynamic response topology optimization is performed in the time domain. First, the necessity of topology optimization to directly consider the dynamic loads is verified by identifying the relationship between the natural frequency of a structure and the excitation frequency. When the natural frequency of a structure is low, the dynamic characteristics (inertia effect) should be considered. The equivalent static loads (ESLs) method is proposed for linear dynamic response topology optimization. ESLs are made to generate the same response field as that from dynamic loads at each time step of dynamic response analysis. The method was originally developed for size and shape optimizations. The original method is expanded to topology optimization under dynamic loads. At each time step of dynamic analysis, ESLs are calculated and ESLs are used as the external loads in static response topology optimization. The results of topology optimization are used to update the design variables (density of finite elements) and the updated design variables are used in dynamic analysis in a cyclic manner until the convergence criteria are satisfied. The updating rules and convergence criteria in the ESLs method are newly proposed for linear dynamic response topology optimization. The proposed updating rules are the artificial material method and the element elimination method. The artificial material method updates the material property for dynamic analysis at the next cycle using the results of topology optimization. The element elimination method is proposed to remove the element which has low density when static topology optimization is finished. These proposed methods are applied to some examples. The results are discussed in comparison with conventional linear static response topology optimization.

  • Today, due to the environmental regulations regarding air pollution in the EU, the use of EPS (Styrofoam) as the cushioning material in the packaging industry is decreasing. In effect, air cushioning based cushioning materials are rapidly expanding into the market and replacing EPS, due to their excellent buffering ability and environmental friendliness. This is a new selective filling type air filling material manufacturing technology that affords improvements in the amount of raw materials required, its processing and its aesthetic appearance compared to the conventional air filling cushioning materials. In this study, a multi-stage air cell filling valve molding technology is developed based on selective filling technology, which allows packages to be selectively filled in various forms by applying valve forming structure technology. This multi-stage air cell filling valve molding technology is a technique in which a plurality of injection ports are formed by laminating three layers of films, viz. a first injection film, a valve film, and a second injection film having valve ends. In the conventional technology, a separate external air injection path for injecting air into a plurality of connected air bags is needed. However, in the proposed system, an external air injection path is formed inside the air bag, Due to the lack of need for an injection furnace, the raw material and process are reduced and air is injected and then discharged, while the air bag is reduced in length to 63 ~ 66% of its normal value. The outer surface of the outer air injection path is integrated inside by maintaining the original length of the cross section, while the unnecessary folded air is injected into the interior of the air bag, This smart air filling type cushioning material manufacturing technology constitutes a big improvement over the existing technologies.

  • This study describes the results of model experiment to analyze the effect of backfill material types on the behavior of underground facility. In the model experiment, backfill materials around the existing underground facility were applied with soil (Jumunjin standard sand) and CLSM. The displacement of underground facility was analyzed for each excavation stage considering the separation distance between the excavation surface and the backfill area based on the experimental results. When soil was applied as a backfill material, the soil on the back of the excavation surface collapsed by excavation and formed an angle of repose, and the process of slope stability was repeated at each excavation stage. In addition, the displacement of underground facility began to occur in the excavation stage that the failure line of soil passes the installation location of the underground facility. When CLSM was applied as a backfill material, there was almost no horizontal and vertical displacement of the ground regardless of the separation distance from the excavation surface even when excavation proceeded to the backfill depth. Therefore, this result showed that it can have a resistance effect against the lateral earth pressure generated and the collapse of the original ground by adjacent excavation, if a backfill material with high stiffness such as CLSM is applied.
