  • 3D reconstruction means that reconstructing the 3D shape of the object in an image and a video. We proposed a progressive occupancy network architecture that can recover not only the overall shape of the object but also the local details. Unlike the original occupancy network, which uses a feature vector embedding information of the whole image, we extract and utilize the different levels of image features depending on the receptive field size. We also propose a novel network architecture that applies the image features sequentially to the decoder blocks in the decoder and improves the quality of the reconstructed 3D shape progressively. In addition, we design a novel decoder block structure that combines the different levels of image features properly and uses them for updating the input point feature. We trained our progressive occupancy network with ShapeNet. We compare its representation power with two prior methods, including prior occupancy network(ONet) and the recent work(DISN) that used different levels of image features like ours. From the perspective of evaluation metrics, our network shows better performance than ONet for all the metrics, and it achieved a little better or a compatible score with DISN. For visualization results, we found that our method successfully reconstructs the local details that ONet misses. Also, compare with DISN that fails to reconstruct the thin parts or occluded parts of the object, our progressive occupancy network successfully catches the parts. These results validate the usefulness of the proposed network architecture.

  • Objectives : To determine the discriminative criteria for Atractylodes rhizomes, the experiment of externalinternal characteristics and physicochemical pattern analysis were performed. Methods : External characteristics was observed using stereoscope. The sectioned materials which were covered with parffin were stained by Ju's method. Physicochemical patterns were analyzed using HPLC/DAD. Results : 1. External shape of original plant : Atractylodes maaocephala and A. japonica had relatively long petioles and 3-5 parted leaves. A. macrocephala had big purple flowers whereas A. japonica had relatively small white flowers and pinnate bracts. A. lancea had sessile leaves and white flowers, and the end parts of degenerated stamens were bent. 2. External shape of herbal medicine: A. macrocephala which was fist-shaped rhizome had pa-pillate processes and the cross section was light gray and sulcate. A. japonica and A. lancea were connected-beady or tubercular rhizomes, and the cross sections were both yellow-colored white. However, the cross section of A. japonica was fibrous, the width of cortex was narro-wer than that of stele, and radial shape in cortex was rare, whereas the width of cortex in A. lancea was similar to that of stele in size, and radial shape in cortex was obvious. 3. Internal shape of herbal medicine: A. macrocephala and A. lancea did not have lignified fascicles in cortex. However, the vascular bundles and vessels of A. macrocephala were wedge shaped and radial arrangement, and vascular bundles were densely populated in stele whereas those of A. lancea were repeatedly arranged and thinly extended to cortex. A. japonica had lignified fascicles in cortex and the width of vascular bundles was conspicuously thick with narrow intervals. 4. Physicochemical pattern analysis : A. macrocephala and A. lancea contained atractylenolide I and atractylenolide Ill whereas A. japonica contained atractylenolide I, atractylenolide Ill. diacetyl-atractylodiol, compound-4, compound-5. The three species of Atractylodes rhizomes showed different chromatogram patterns. Conclusions : The results could be used as discriminative criteria for Atractylodes rhizomes and as fundamental materials to researches of further pattern analysis and biological reaction.

  • As the importance of an historical area is getting increased in these days, the reconstruction of an bell chamber in Namhansansung has significant historial, educational and cultural meaning. The purpose of this study, as a study on an bell chamber in Namhansansung, is to assume an original location of the bell chamber and identify the size and shape of the original bell chamber through literature study, site inspection, and analysis on old maps. In addition, this study could provide useful information when new bell chamber is constructed. According to the literature study, site inspections(5 times) and analysis on old maps, the original bell chamber is assumed to locate near current Oroji tea house at the rotary, where was in the area of Hanggung. With regard to the traffic system, it is assume that there was an old road along with the current local road No.342 connecting the South Gate with North Gate and a Y or T shape intersection connecting the site of old bell chamber with the north. In addition, there was a government office street from the old bell chamber to Hanggung. The shape of old bell chamber is assumed to have Paljak or Woojingak roof. Samo roof was not found in all the five maps. Regarding the direction of bell chamber, three maps indicate that it faces the East and two maps show that it faces the South. Therefore, it is assumed that the length and width of the roof have similar size. However, a new bell chamber should face the East, which is the same direction with Hanggung. As there is a record which states that a bell in the Cheonheoungsa, Seonggeosan, Cheonan was used as a Namhansansung's bell when the Cheonheoungsa was closed, this study suggests that new Namansansung's bell should be built, considering histroical value and artistry of Cheonheoungsa's bell. This study is a basic research for the reconstruction of Namhansansung in 2009. However, as reconstruction of historical assets should be based on thorough historical evidences. Therefore, more detail researches by a indicator analysis are left for the topic of future studies.

  • It is not uncommon in Korea to see the structure and function of a garden remain intact as well as its form. Yi Cheon-bo's Historic House (Gyeonggi-do Cultural Heritage Item No. 55), located in Sang-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, is considered an example of very valuable garden heritage, although its family history, location, and remaining buildings and natural cultural assets are not fully intact. Along with Yi Cheon-bo's Historic House, this study attempted to explore the possibility of restoration of the forest houses and gardens by highlighting the high value of Yi Cheon-bo's Historic House through research into the typical layout of private households in northern Gyeonggi Province and Gapyeong County, comparative review of aerial photographs from 1954, and interviews with those involved. The results of the study are as follows: In this study, the presence of Banggye-dongmun and Bansukam in the Banggyecheon area, where the location of the garden was well-preserved, was examined across the landscape of the outer garden, while the location of Yi Cheon-bo's Historic House, the appearance of feng shui, and the viewing axis were considered. Also, the appearance of the lost main house was inferred from the arrangement and shape of the Sarangchae and Haengrangchae that remain in the original garden, and the asymmetry of the Sarangchae Numaru and the hapgak shape on the side of the roof. In addition, the three tablets (Pyeonaeks) of Sanggodang (尙古堂), Bangyejeongsa (磻溪精舍), and Okgyeongsanbang (玉聲山房) were used to infer the landscape, use, and symbolism of the men's quarters. Also, a survey was conducted on the trees that existed or existed in the high prices. Incidentally, it was confirmed that information on boards and cultural properties of Yeonha-ri juniper (Gyeonggi-do Monument No. 61) was recorded to a much lesser extent than the actual required standard, and the juniper trees remaining in the front of Haengrangchae should also be re-evaluated after speculation. On the other hand, as a result of estimating the original shape as a way of pursuing completeness of the garden through restoration of the lost women's quarters and shrine, it is estimated that the main house was placed in the form of a '口' or a 'be warped 口' on the right (north) side of the men's quarters. By synthesizing these results, a restoration alternative for Yi Cheon-bo's Historic House was suggested.

  • Background: Chronic low grade inflammation is closely linked to type II diabetes, obesity, and atherosclerosis. Macrophages play a key role in the regulation of pro- or anti-inflammatory actions at the lesion sites of disease. Components of cordyceps militaris, cordycepin and adenosine, have been used for the modulation of inflammatory diseases. The effects of cordycepin in the modulation of macrophages have yet to be be elucidated. We investigated the effects of cordycepin and adenosine on the morphological changes of macrophages under the inflammatory condition of LPS and an anti-inflammatory condition involving high concentrations of adenosine. Methods: We confirmed the mRNA levels of the M1/M2 cytokine genes through RT-PCR and morphological change. Results: LPS-activated macrophages returned to their inactivated original shape, i.e., they looked like naive macrophages, through the treatment with high concentrations of cordycepin ($40{\mu}g/ml$). LPS and adenosine activated macrophages also returned to their original inactivated shapes after cordycepin treatment; however, at relatively higher levels of cordycepin than adenosine. This change did not occur with relatively low concentrations of cordycepin. Adenosine down-regulated the gene expression of M1 cytokines (IL-$1{\beta}$, TNF-${\alpha}$) and chemokines (CX3CR1, RANTES), such as cordycepin. Additionally, M2 cytokines (IL-10, IL-1ra, TGF-${\beta}$) were up-regulated by both cordycepin and adenosine. Conclusion: Based on these observations, both cordycepin and adenosine regulated the phenotypic switch on macrophages and suggested that cordycepin and adenosine may potentially be used as immunomodulatory agents in the treatment of inflammatory disease.

  • The dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) has low efficiency due to about 70% input power is consumed as thermal energy in the discharge space. However, because of the usage of DBD ozone generator is easier than other methods. The DBD ozone generator has been widely applied for high concentration ozone generation in the industrial application. But, the low-capacity compact DBD ozone generator is not applied so far. Therefore, the DBD ozone generator is necessary to improve ozone production efficiency and reduce the capacity. In this paper, the stainless steel pipe inner electrode was designed with hall type and screw type to improve the ozone production yield. The manufactured two inner electrodes were experimented with normal type for comparison of the discharge characteristics and the ozone generating characteristics. As the experimental results, the discharge current effective value of designed inner electrodes with hall type and screw type are higher than the normal type, due to unequal electric field is formed at the boundary. However, the difference of designed and original electrodes is less than 0.1mA that has no effect on the discharge characteristic. On the other hand, the screw type inner electrode increased higher than original model about 7 times when the flow rate of the oxygen source gas was increased from $0.6{\ell}/min$ to $1.0{\ell}/min$ The reason was assumed by the flow rate of the raw gas through the inner electrode was became fast that has a cooling effect. The designed hall type and screw type inner electrodes have shown good performances in ozone generation and ozone production that better than normal type in the same electrode surface area.

  • Prairie style houses in first stages of Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture activity pay a leading role in the process of house modernization as reflecting social and economic circumstances of the time based on traditional house style of the States. Wright's first work after retiring from L. Sullivan's office, Winslow house in 1983 is pioneering work predicting prairie house. This is because this house has only one modern architecture language of Wright and follow no style prevailing of the time. So, a researcher analyse Winslow house within the framework of functional thinking and new formative value creation in the modernization process of western house. Through this, The goal of this study is to find out modern characteristics and the meaning of Winslow house in modernization process prior to the 1900s. Firstly, the followings are modern characteristics of Winslow house. First, Winslow house has original planning breaking from custom based on modern functional and reasonable thoughts, and has practical space reflecting resident's inner demand. Second, Winslow house has modern new plastic value through original exterior breaking from custom and integrated shape of inner-outer space and structure. Secondly, the followings are the meaning of Winslow house in modernization process prior to the 1900s. First, Wright intend to suggest directions of residence modernization through Winslow house before designing Prairie style houses in earnest. Second, mixing of modern vocabulary and eclecticism show a sign of residence modernization process on the time. Third, inner-outer flowing space, opening space concept of Winslow house has innovative meanings predicting spacial characteristics of modern architecture.

  • A mutant strain which hyperproduced thermostable ${\alpha}-amylase$ was obtained by chemical mutagenesis of Bacillus licheniformis. The mutant strain, SK-5, produced the enzyme about 50 times higher than the original strain. The mutant was longer and slimmer in shape, slower in growth compared to the original strain. Nucleotide sequence analysis of the SK-5 ${\alpha}-amylase$ gene revealed no changes in the the structural gene. The changes found in the promoter region might be responsible for the hyperproduction of the enzyme by the mutant. No structural changes in the enzyme structure could be observed when the secreted enzymes at various culture times were analyzed by Western blot.

  • Clothing design is one of design products for human, the end user and corresponds to artifacts. Sometimes artifacts with one mono module exist, and so does artifacts assembled and combined with multi modules of same shape and size or various shapes and sizes and thus all design products can be understood by modularity concept. The purpose of this study was to make a new suggestion for the clothing design and production of high uniqueness and creativity by reviewing and synthesizing the foundation of clothing modularity concept as the original clothing design figures from the history have shown various modularity concept evolution from mono module to multi module stages. The methods of this study were to identify clothing modularity and analyze the type, evolving direction, and category of clothing modularity, and the value of clothing modularization design through comprehensive literature reviews on topic-related books and theses. The original clothing figures with Significance from the clothing history were analyzed in evolution sequence for application direction and value of clothing modularity in flat pattern. Clothing modularity in ancient clothing figures was classified as three types of the fixed, drapery, and straight lined in evolving direction from clothing of mono module to flat patterned clothing. The direction of clothing modularity was identified as mono- dual-triple-multi into another level of multi modularity after intentional devolution. The categorization of clothing modularity was identified in terms of clothing flat construction, clothing design construction, and clothing form modeling. The value of clothing modularization design using clothing modularity was identified as economical efficiency, convenience, promptitude, adaptability, functionality, and creativity.

  • Responses to various types of mechanically induced wounding were followed in the giant-celled Caulerpalean species, Derbesia tenuissima, using time-lapse video-microscopy. Gametophyte vesicle cells. Puncture wounding: the gametophyte cell seals the puncture in 5 min. This is followed by cycles of ruptures and sealing, ending with full recovery in 24 hrs. Cut wounding: the protoplast immediately retracts away from the wall and reforms an intact, deflated protoplast that expands to fill the original cell within 21 hrs. Crush wounding (internal). When retained within the cell wall many protoplast fragments condense, round up, and coalesce; the reconstituted protoplast expands until it attains complete recovery, filling the original cell shape in 12 hrs. Crush wounding (external). Protoplast fragments extruded from the crushed cell are more numerous and smaller taking longer to recover. Most fragments become spherical, transforming into small viable cells capable of reproduction in several days. Sporophyte filaments. Crush wounding creates many small fragments that initially condense, coalesce and then expand within the wall to restore a complete filament with normal cytoplasmic streaming within 5 hrs. Reproduction: gametophyte. Our culture isolates produce more females than males (30:1). Gametangia develop one day before discharge that occurs explosively (1/6 sec) at first morning light. The vesicle cell forms successive gametangia every 14 days. Sporophyte. Each sporangium develops on a lateral branch that becomes isolated by the creation of successive basal plugs. After cytoplasmic cleavage and differentiation the stephanokont spores are discharged. The spores settle quickly and germinate forming gametophyte cells.
