1. Objective : Researching the satisfaction on constitutional health care and studying an influential factor on the satisfaction to make use of basic materials for consitutional health care model. 2. Methods : We sent the questionnaire to 102 extended family members who received constitutional health care in oriental medicine institute. Collected 70 data analysis was statistically proceeded by SPSS. 3. Results : The rate of satisfaction on consitutional health care was 87% which was relatively high in comparison with other health care programs. Oriental clinic showed the highest in rate and then oriental hospital and institute were followed. 4. Conclusion This study showed that satisfaction on consitutional health care was high and the health care program was positive in improving health. Developing guide on health care by constitution and building up clinical data on the degree of health improvement influenced by health care program.

The research on the actual condition of the oriental health related industry has been made with defining it's phase. As a result, I have come to develope korean-type health model, which can solve the problems derived from the past herb medicine industry. The prospects and roles of the oriental health related industries are as follows: The phase adjustment of the oriental health related industry. The problems of modern medical science happens in the beginning of 21st century, the importance of oriental health improvement in the field of health business is now being on the rise. therefore it is necessary to readjust the present status of the oriental medicine and to take it into health area. Should the responsible institutes regarded on oriental medicine make clear prescription in terms of oriental health industry's role and limitation, they could contribute health circumstance in the 21st century. This is because oriental health related industry can be utiliged in not only protective area and curable area. The present situation of the oriental health related industry. These herb medical societies are flooded with various oriental health industry apart from the legal systematic control so far health industry apart from the legal systematic control so far. The expected survey can not be complete but random under these situations. Nevertheless oriental medical health industry area such as a diet cure, exercise treatment and living condition cure are being considerably expanded, especially living facilities improvement and mind control areas are toward worldwide. Consquently herb health industries are now？ consistantly developed by the influence of western nature treatment stemmed from the oriental medicine theory. The role and prospect of the oriental health related industry in 21st century. The oriental health industries can be helpful for the human being's health improvement in general but by the lack of scholastic oriental health theory, it does not contribute to the health welfare. If these problems are made up for in the field of theory area, the oriental health related industry will surely have the potentiallity and know how for health welfare. The successive role of these industry is depended on the fact that the characteristics of the oriental medicine should adjust to the real society with the systematic management. In the 21C, oriental health industry will certainly be vitalized owing to the social and periodical request especially in the area of oriental medical industry, oriental health drink industry, oriental health mind exercise industry, oriental health leasure industry and oriental health complex management industry. Among these areas, it is the oriental health complex amagement industry that will be the limestone of prosperity of the oriental health industry in 21C. Proposal for the social contribution of the oriental health related industry in the 21C. To achive the ultimate role of the oriental health industry in the 21c, first we should know how to use the oriental medicine. Second We should make an effort to revitalize the oriental health industry. So it is indespensible that government, academic institution and enterprise should concentrate their interest on the oriental health industry with common knowledge and systematic management in advance.

An empirical formula that has been empirically shown to be effective for a particular condition can be said to add medical materials to an exciting formula or to make a new prescription by Korean medical doctors' empirical clinic. This dissertation aims to study the prescriptions according to A Confidential Document of A Distinguished Medical Family and to contribute to the development of Korean medicine. A Confidential Document of A Distinguished Medical Family is a medicinal recipe that is an heirloom of the Gyeongju Kim family for the eighth generation. And the date and the writer of the book are unknown. The contents of the book consist of 18 parts and are made up of about 300 medical recipes. Of these, 153 formulas and indications of roundworm, cholera, puffy swelling, abdominal distension, phlegm-rheum, woman, child, summerheat, dryness-heat, eye, and blood are found in the book. From among these, 26 formulas are directly quoted out of The Precious Mirror of Oriental Medicine, 93 formulas are adjusted in proportion or combined and 34 formulas are empirical ones. By the parity of reasoning of the above, I think that this book was published after The Precious Mirror of Oriental Medicine.

The Korea health care system has been divided into Western and Oriental (Korea traditional) medicine since 1951. In accordance with dualistic medical system, there are many conflict cases between medical doctors and oriental medical doctors. Meanwhile, there were much discussions about the meaning and criteria of medical malpractice(negligence). Especially, many cases have been built up about the criteria of medical malpractice through lawsuits. But, comparatively, there's few the medical malpractice case of the oriental medical doctors. According to a recent ruling of the Supreme Court, the legal principles of medical doctor's malpractice case are equally applied to the criteria of the oriental medical doctor's malpractice case. But there are much considerations in addition to these principles for the dualistic medical system and academic distinctiveness. This study is intended to review the dualistic medical system, the criterion of medical malpractice, and analysis this issues. To make long story short, under our dualistic medical system, judging the medical and oriental malpractice should be considered relatively. However, it makes sense that we want medical doctor or oriental medical doctor to demand the reinforced negligence to restrict the unnecessary discretion. If there is lack of evidence-based medicine or the rationality suspected, the health care providers must give enough proof.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the recent tendency of clinical researches of obese children for finding better oriental medicine treatments. Methods : This study was focused on diagnoses, treatments, prognoses and cures of obese children based on 37 of other papers which are J Korean Oriental Med, J Korean Oriental Pediatrics, J Korean Acd Fam Med, J Korean society for the study of obesity, Korea Sport Research, J Korean Academy of Pediatric Allergy and Respiratory Disease, J Korean Society for Health Education and Promotion, Korean J Pediatric, and Korean J Oriental Physiology and Pathology. Results : The rate of obese children has been increased continuously. There are several reasons for increased rate : For example, inadequate eating habit, lack of exercise, and genetic factors such as inherited diseases, and the disorder of the endocrine system. The obesity in childhood or adolescent can cause not only the physical problems but also the mental problems. It is necessary for children to diet, change life style, exercise continuously, and being active in order to prevent child obesity and keep healthy. Obesity can be treated through therapy diet, exercise, behavior modification, drug therapy and operation. Conclusion : It is important to recognize the children obesity, and make better treatments for that in the way of oriental cure. Moreover, additional reports should be keeping up based on continuing clinical researches.

Objectives : Ma-huang (Ephedra sinica) is frequently prescribed for obesity management in oriental medicine. The main component is ephedrine alkaloids which can have serious adverse side effects such as heart attack, stroke, sudden death. There are no scientific guidelines for Ma-huang usage in the safe treatment of obesity in oriental medicine. We reviewed published studies on its safety to make evidence based guidelines. Methods : We searched electronic databases up to May 2006. We limited evidence to controlled trials for efficacy or safety, case reports for safety, and studies for Ma-huang contents analysis. Results and Conclusions : In clinical trials for weight loss, Ma-huang and ephedrine promote modest short-term weight loss but have no serious adverse effects, have only a few adverse effects associated with increased risk of psychiatric, autonomic, gastrointestinal symptoms and heart palpitations. In case reports, there have been serious adverse effects including stroke, heart attack, and death using typical doses of ephedrine or no associated illness. There are factors related to serious adverse effects, such as overuse, lack of standardization, individual sensitivity, and interactions with other drugs. Studies relating to these factors should be analyzed for safe use of Ma-huang and ephedrine. After analyzing related studies, we suggest guidelines for Ma-huang usage. We propose that the dosage should be within 4.5-7.5g per day for up to 6 months for generally healthy individual. It's use is contraindicated in individuals with heart disease, thyroid disease, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, psychiatric disorders, glaucoma, urination disorders, enlarged prostate, persons using MAOIs, methyldopa and sympathomimetic agents.

Because of the changes of a variety of aspects of disease theory alternative to standard medicine, demand for traditional medicine has increased. This study was undertaken to grasp and compare traditional-medicine administrative structure, functions and role between Korea and China. According to our research, both nations promote policy related to traditional-medicine, yet there are various differences because of each nation's scale, political structure, medical system, etc. Especially, compare to the Korean government, the Chinese government not only has paid more attention to traditional medicine but also established and promoted a synthesis development strategy for a long time. Additionally, there is weakness in Korea's traditional medicine policy compared to the Chinese's Synthetic development-strategy, which is the Oriental-policy Department and Korea Food&Drug administration. Therefore, to make up for the weakness, they will have to organize their role better and make a long-term development-strategy plan for traditional medicine.

Koreans has regarded a fair skin as the supreme beauty emphasizing the white beauty so long, and mugwort and garlic were used as whitening materials. Also, it was recorded that the people of Eub-Rue (挹婁) applied some lard to protect their skin from cold and prevent frostbite, and this must be a great way of beauty care in the light of modern sense. The basic beauty care materials currently used as skin care materials, include natural minerals like loess or mud, and the ones composed of a highly polymerized compound. However, by reason that they are produced without consideration of an individual skin condition, and rather bring about a number of problems leading to skin diseases. To complement this issue, using natural resources would have priority to make up for the weak points. For this, we decided to select and study "Dongeuibogam".

The cells that make up the body continuously undergo cell division to maintain life, but stress and carcinogens, and physiological stimuli suppress immunological functions in the body and change cells to cancerous cells. The only way to overcome cancer is by treatment through early detection and proper diagnosis. However, because early stage of cancer shows subjective symptoms that are similar to those of other common illnesses, even doctors have difficulty separating cancer from common illnesses in its early stage. However, the Ki(bioenergy) present in our body recognizes and changes to the most minute changes in the body. This method of detecting the change in bioenergy to discover a disease in the early stage to raise treatment success is called the OBET: O-Ring, Bioenergy Test. This method, which is based on the theories of oriental medicine, focuses on tumors, especially malignant tumors, and has shown value in diagnosis and treatment, as witnessed in the clinical applications. The diagnosis method and cases of OBET: O-Ring, Bioenergy Test are presented.

Background: Otitis media with effusion(OME) is one of the most common disease in childhood. Patient suffers from OME in many quarters. For example hearing loss, effects on speech, language, learning, behaviouralchanges etc. But the diagnosis of OME is difficult using only medical history and otoscopy. So, many other diagnostic tools are developed and tympanometry is one of them. When OME is treated by oriental medical Tx, tympanometry would be useful instrument. Objectives: To gain insight into the usability of tympanometry in F/U of OME treated by oriental medial Tx. Methods: Data was collected from 123 ears of 74 children who was treated by oriental medical Tx. Data includes sex, age, period of Tx, elapsed time to be improved, tympanograms and accompanied symptoms. The relationship between items was analysed by statistical methods. Results: There is no relationship between age, sex and period of Tx/elapsed time to be improved. When cough and phlegm is accompanied, the period of treatment and elapsed time to be improved are expanded. When improvement was seen on tympanogram, the period of treatment is expanded but the improvement was seen within 30days, the period of treatment is reduced. Conclusion: The application of tympanometry in oriental medical treatment of OME would provide us many informations about the status of patient so it will be helpful to predict the history of a case and to make a decision whether keep up treatment or not.
