Influence of Job Embeddedness Factors on Turnover Intention of Nurses in Small and Medium Sized General Hospitals (중소 종합병원 간호사의 직무배태성이 이직의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was done to investigate the influence of organization and community job embeddedness on turnover intention of nurses in small and medium sized general hospitals. Methods: The participants, 333 nurses, were recruited from small and medium sized general hospitals in Korea. Data were collected by self-report questionnaires on job-embeddedness and turnover intention and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Independent t-test, One-way ANOVA and $Scheff{\acute{e}}^{\prime}$, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression analysis with the SPSS 18.0 program. Results: The score for job embeddedness and it's 6 factors, and turnover intention were above 3 on a 5 point scale with the exception of organizational sacrifice. There was a significant difference in turnover intention according to age, marital status, salary, and position. There were significant negative correlations between the 6 factors of job embeddedness and turnover intention. Variables entered in multiple regression showed that organizational sacrifice, organizational fit and age were significant contributing factors to turnover intention. Conclusion: The findings suggest that there is a need for strategies to enhance job embeddedness, especially organization sacrifice and organization fit. These factors should be developed and used to decrease turnover intention of nurses in small and medium sized general hospitals.

A Study on the meaning of work and job embeddedness affecting the creative behavior of organization members

  • This study attempted to confirm the factors that the meaning of work perceived by organization members and job embeddedness affects creative behavior. In addition, we tried to confirm the relationship between the meaning of work and job embeddedness. On the other hand, we tried to verify the mediating effect of job embeddedness between the meaning of work and creative behavior. Accordingly, the following results and implications were derived through the hypotheses set for the members of small and medium-sized enterprises. First, the meaning of work showed a positive effect on job embeddedness and creative behavior, and it was empirically analyzed that job embeddedness was improved on creative behavior. In order to improve the creative behavior of organizational members, the need for advancement of the management and training system to systematically improve and strengthen the meaning of work and job embeddedness has emerged. Second, job embeddedness showed a mediating effect between the meaning of work and creative behavior. In other words, the employee's job embeddedness acted as a direct or indirect factor according to the improvement of the meaning of work and creative behavior. Accordingly, as one of the major factors in human resource management and strategic human resource development for the advancement of the sustainable management system, the need for institutional establishment and implementation was required as it became more efficient and effective.

Relationships among Nursing Work Environment, Job Embeddedness, and Turnover Intention in Nurses (간호사의 간호업무환경, 직무착근도와 이직의도 간의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among nursing work environment, job embeddedness, and turnover intention in order to provide basic data for efficient management of human resources in nursing organizations. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive study design was conducted with 177 nurses who had worked for more than 6 months in five general hospitals on Jeju Island. A self-report questionnaire was used for data collection. Results: About 88% of the participants reported that they were considering a turnover plan because of overload in their jobs and poor salaries. Nursing work environment was significantly related to job embeddedness and turnover intention. Job embeddedness was significantly related to turnover intention. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed that factors affecting turnover intention were the organizational embeddedness factors of organization fit and organization sacrifice. Conclusion: The results indicate that nurses' turnover intention is associated with nursing work environment and job embeddedness. To reduce nurses' turnover intention and improve nurses' retention, nurse managers should improve the nursing work environment and consider job embeddedness, particularly in relation to the organization fit and sacrifice.

Effect of Job Embeddedness and Organization Attachment on Intention to Stay in Hospital Nurses (병원간호사의 직무배태성과 조직애착이 잔류의도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to identify the effect of job embeddedness and organization attachment on the intention to stay of hospital nurses in the convergence society. The participants were 211 general hospital nurses; data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, Multiple regression. This study found that: hospital nurses showed higher score at job embeddedness, higher organization attachment, higher scores for intention to stay. The main factors influencing intention to stay were job embeddedness and organization attachment. They explained about 45% of the intention to stay. Thus, it is necessary to allocate tasks and evaluate appropriate to the nurse's ability and support individual and organizational activities that can enhance organizational attachment.

  • Purpose: This study was done to build and verify a model of clinical nurses' turnover intention using organizational characteristics, job satisfaction and job embeddedness. Methods: The study participants were 389 hospital nurses. SPSS and AMOS 22.0 program were used to analyze the data and the modeling of turnover intention. Results: A total of 41% of turnover intention was explained by job satisfaction, job embeddedness and organizational characteristics. Nurses with higher job satisfaction and job embeddedness showed lower turnover intention, while organizational characteristics had an indirect effect on their turnover intention. It was found that organizational characteristics had positive effects on both job satisfaction and job embeddedness, and job embeddedness played a mediating role between organizational characteristics and turnover intention. Conclusion: To reduce nurses' turnover intention, hospitals' organizational characteristics should be considered. Nurse managers should strive to increase nurses' job satisfaction and job embeddedness through an understanding of the factors of organizational characteristics such as organizational fairness, nursing work environment, motivation, organizational citizenship behavior, and transformational leadership.

Factors affecting the job embeddedness of clinical dental hygienists (임상치과위생사의 직무배태성에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to provide basic data to establish a foundation for efficient operation of the organization by identifying the factors that affect the job embeddedness of dental hygienists. Methods: A survey was conducted from March to July 2018, targeting dental hygienists working in dental clinics and hospitals. Results: The study of the factors affecting job embeddedness of dental hygienists revealed that along with career, marital status, surface acting of emotional labor, and even emotional hiding and false expression, which are sub-areas of the surface acting, have statistically significant influences on job embeddedness. In other words, in a married dental hygienist with relatively high work experience, the surface acting of emotional labor is found to be high in job embeddedness, and the explanatory power of the model is approximately 53.2%. Conclusions: In order to improve the job embeddedness of clinical dental hygienists, it seems necessary to prepare an effective program to strengthen the surface behavior of emotional labor.

  • The main purpose of the stuey is the impacts of applying two dimensions of Learning Organization on Job Satisfaction and the mediating effect of the Job Embeddedness. As a result, Structural Factor had not positive effect and Human Factor had positive effect on the Job Satisfaction. The mediating effect of Job Embeddedness had significant effect between Learning Organization and Job Satisfaction. The result of this study is not presented at the existing research. Therefore, the results have many theoretical and practical implications.

Effects of Organizational Silence and Professionalism on Job Embeddedness among Nurses in Hospital Management (행정직 간호사의 조직침묵, 전문직업성이 직무배태성에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide data to establish an efficient manpower management plan so that the organization can identify the influence of organizational silence and professionalism on job embeddedness among nurses in hospital management. Methods: Self-report questionnaires were distributed to 150 nurses in hospital management who were working in general hospitals with less than 900 beds but more than 300 beds in the districts of Seoul and Gyunggi, Gangwon province. Of the questionnaires, 127 out of 150 copies were collected and 120 copies were used for final analysis. Seven were not considered sincere in the responses. Data were analyzed using SPSS ver. 22.0 statistic program, t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression. Results: Organizational silence and professionalism had significant influence on job embeddedness, which explained 43.4% of job embeddedness. Conclusion: The results indicate that in order to raise job embeddedness, it is necessary to provide various programs to change communication patterns in the nurses in hospital management, and to create environments in which nurses in hospital management can present various opinions.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of person-environment fit and job embeddedness on turnover Intention. The subjects conveniently extracted 150 nurses who work at 2general hospitals in B and U metropolitan cities for more than six months, and Analyses were made using the SPSS WIN 20.0 and AMOS 21.0 programs to identify the causal relationship between person-job fit, person-organizational fit, person-supervisor fit, job embeddedness and turnover Intention. As a result, the variables with direct effect and total effect on job embeddedness showed personal-job fit, personal-organizational fit, person-supervisor fit and explained 76.3% of the job embeddedness. The most significant direct effect on turnover intention was job embeddedness and personal-job fit, personal-organizational fit, Person-supervisor fit showed indirect effect, and job embeddedness explained 36% of the turnover intention. In conclusion, if the personal-job fit, personal-organizational fit, and personal-superior fit of the clinical nurse are improved, the job embeddedness are improved turnover intention will decrease and the turnover rate will be decreased. In addition, it is necessary to study various factors affecting the turnover intention of person-environmental fit on nurses.
