The black/white electronic ink containing high mobility white nano particles and the organic black pigment particles dispersed in dielectric fluid were prepared. A charge control agent affects the electrophoretic zeta potentials of white particle, which show the maximum value in zeta potential. The electronic ink panel fabricated with the charged white particles and the black particles exhibits more than 15:1 contrast ratio at 10V.

We present a device model for organic light emitting diodes(OLEDs) which includes charge injection, transport, recombination, and space charge effects in the organic materials. The model can describe both injection limited and space charge limited current flow and the transition between them. Calculated device current, light output, and quantum and power efficiency are presented for different cases of material and device parameters and demonstrate the improvements in device performance in bilayer devices. These results are interpreted using the calculated spatial variation of the electric field, charge density and recombination rate density in the device. We find that efficient OLEDs are possible for a proper choice of organic materials and contact parameters.
Efficient electrodes are devised for organic luminescent device(OLED). ITO electrode is treated with $O_2$ plasma. In order to inject hole efficiently, there is proposed the shape of anode that inserted plasma polymerized films as buffer layer between anode and organic layer using thiophene monomer. In the case of device inserted the buffer layer by using the plasma polymerization after $O_2$ plasma processing for ITO transparent electrode, since it forms the stable interface and reduce the moving speed of hole, the recombination of hole and electronic are made in the emitting layer. Therefore it realized the device capability of two times in the aspect of luminous efficiency than the device which do not be inserted the buffer layer. Experiments are limited to the device that has the structure of TPD/$AIq_3$, however, the aforementioned electrodes can similarly applied to the organic luminous device and the Polymer luminous device.
Top emission organic light-emitting diode (TEOLED) is commonly used because of high efficiency and good color purity than bottom - emission organic light-emitting device (BEOLED). Unlike BEOLED, TEOLED contain semitransparent metal cathode and capping layer. Because there are many characteristics to consider just simple thickness change, optimizing organic thickness of TEOLED for microcavity is difficult. So, in this study, we optimized Device capping layer at unoptimized micro-cavity structure TEOLED device. And we compare only capping layer with unoptimized microcavity structure can overcome optimized micro-cavity structure device. We used previous our optimized micro-cavity structure to compare each other. As a result, it has been found that the efficiency can be obtained almost the same or higher only capping layer, which is stacked on top of the device and controls only the thickness and refractive index, without complicated structural calculations. This means that higher efficiencies can be obtained more easily in laboratories with limited organic materials or when optimizing new structures etc.

This study is the effect of lithium Lithium Complex as an electron injection layer(EIL) on the performance of organic light emitting devices (OLEDs) and optimized the device efficiency by varying thickness of EIL layer. The device with 2nm GDI 101 layer showed significant enhancement of the device performance and device lifetime. We also compared GDI 109 and GDI 117 with GDI 101 as an electron injection layer.
In this study, we made a organic thin film device in MIS(Metal-Insulator-Semiconductor) structure by using PVP (Poly vinyl phenol) as a insulating layer, and CdSe/ZnS nano particles which have a core/shell structure inside. We dissolved PVP and PMF in PGMEA, organic solvent, then formed a thin film through a spin coating. After that, it was cross-linked by annealing for 1 hour in a vacuum oven at $185^{\circ}C$. We operated FTIR measurement to check this, and discovered the amount of absorption reduced in the wave-length region near 3400 cm-1, so could observe decrease of -OH. Boonton7200 was used to measure a C-V relationship to confirm a properties of the nano particles, and as a result, the width of the memory window increased when device including nano particles. Additionally, we used HP4145B in order to make sure the electrical characteristics of the organic thin film device and analyzed a conduction mechanism of the device by measuring I-V relationship. When the voltage was low, FNT occurred chiefly, but as the voltage increased, Schottky Emission occurred mainly. We synthesized CdSe/ZnS and to confirm this, took a picture of Si substrate including nano particles with SEM. Spherical quantum dots were properly made. Due to this study, we realized there is high possibility of application of next generation memory device using organic thin film device and nano particles, and we expect more researches about this issue would be done.
In this paper we fabricated a test panel for AMOLED on glass and PET substrate. The test panel consisted of the various size of OTFTs and OLEDs and the current driving capability of OTFTs for OLEDs has been investigated. OTFTs were made of the inverted staggered structure and employed polyvinylphenol (PVP) as the gate insulator and pentacene thin film as the active layer. The OTFTs produced the filed effect mobility of 0.3$cm^2$/V.sec and on/off current ratio of $10^5$. OLEDs consisted of TPD for HTL and Alq3 for EML with 35nm thick, generating green monochrome light. We found that OTFT with channel length of 70${\mu}m$and channel width of over 3.5mm provided the sufficient current to OLED to generate the luminescence of 0.3Cd/$m^2$.
Electrical properties of organic light-emitting diodes were studied in a device with 7,7,8,8-tetracyano-quinodimethane (TCNQ) to see how the TCNQ affects on the device performance. Since the TCNQ has a high electron affinity, it is used for a charge-transport and injection layer. We have made a reference device in a structure of ITO(170 nm)/TPD(40 nm)/$Alq_3$(60 nm)/LiF(0.5 nm)/Al(100 nm). And two types of devices were manufactured. One type of device is the one made by doping 5 and 10 vol% of TCNQ to N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-di(m-tolyl)-benzidine (TPD) layer. And the other type is the one made with TCNQ layer inserted in between the ITO anode and TPD organic layer. Organic layers were formed by thermal evaporation at a pressure of $10^{-6}$ torr. It was found that for the TCNQ doped devices, turn-on voltage of the device was reduced by about 20 % and the current efficiency was improved by about three times near 6 V. And for devices with TCNQ layer inserted in between the ITO anode and TPD layer, it was found that the current efficiency was improved by more than three times even though there was not much change in turn-on voltage.
Multi-color organic electroluminescent (EL) displays have already been commercialized, and the simple extensions of present technologies on organic EL can not be a target for basic research anymore. Future prospect of research on organic electroluminescent devices are described from the view point of possible future break-through. Three aspects, perspective for further increase of device efficiencies, possibility of simplified device structures and possible use of thick organic layers, are discussed.
