Objectives : Rapid aging is a big social issue and aging influences on the quality of life in elderly people. Methods : From April 1 to october 1, 2012, 250 patients in the dental clinic in Daejeon completed the self-reported questionnaire. Results : As for the educational experience of toothbrushing, 66.4 percent received the training for toothbrushing and 33.6 percent had not received the training for toothbrushing. Those who brushed three times a day accounted for 74.1 percent. Those who received the training for toothbrushing comprised 56.0 percent and took regular check up of every 6 months. Approximately 50.0% received regular scaling service every 6 months. Periodical medical check up comprised 55.6% among those who received toothbrushing education. Approximately 63.9% thought that periodical medical check up is the most important to maintain oral health. Conclusions : There were important factors for oral health. The customized education program for the general public should be implemented as regular as possible.
Background: By regulating the factors that contribute to oral diseases in a healthy way, oral health can be maintained and prevented. Methods: The general characteristics, PHP index, oral health behavior, and clinical periodontal index of each group were calculated by frequency analysis, and a cross-analysis (χ2 test) was conducted to assess the homogeneity of the general characteristics, oral health behavior, and clinical periodontal index of the study subjects. An Oral bacteriological examination was performed by gargling with saliva. Results: The expert periodontal prevention group showed a decrease in the copy number of periodontal disease causative bacteria, and A. actinomycetemcomitans, P. gingivalis, T. forsythus, andT. denticolashowed a significant difference before and after treatment (p=0.021). In the periodontal treatment group, A. actinomycetemcomitans, P. gingivalis, T. forsythus, andT. denticolaall showed a decrease in copy number, but there was no significant difference. Conclusions: This study showed professional periodontal prevention management had some effect on periodontal bacterial reduction.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore and analyze experiences with home-visiting oral health education in vulnerable populations and to provide foundational data necessary for the development of preventive strategies for oral health promotion among these patients. Methods: Using a phenomenological research, in-depth interviews were conducted between August 29 and October 31, 2023 with 20 vulnerable individuals participating in the Home Visit Oral Health Education Program under the Gwangju+ Gwangsan Integrated Care Service project spearheaded by the Gwangju Medical Welfare Cooperative. Results: After analyzing the contents of the participants' experiences, 130 meaningful words and 14 subcategories were identified and categorized into five major themes. Participants expressed discomfort when chewing or swallowing food and felt burdened by visits to the dentist. Although they experienced considerable loneliness because they spent a significant amount of time alone, they enjoyed communicating through visitation care and expressed gratitude for receiving oral health education. Conclusions: Oral health education through home visits cam increase awareness of oral health management among vulnerable populations and serve as an important means of improving their quality of life.

Of those distributed, 217 questionnaires were collected and analyzed. To analyze the collected data, a frequency analysis, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA) were performed using SPSS version 18.0. Results: The demand for an educational course on the 'Management of Oral Health Care for the Aged People' had a score of 4.22 points(full marks were 5.0 points), whereas the score for the necessity for control of oral health was 4.29 points. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to contribute to the development of an oral hygiene care program for patients with dementia by understanding the oral care status and oral health knowledge of care workers and caregivers with regard to patients with dementia. Methods: For about two months from May to June 2018, a survey of care workers and caregivers working in long-term nursing homes and elderly-specialized nursing hospitals was performed, and 442 people were selected for the final analysis. The frequency and percentage were calculated to understand the oral care status and oral health knowledge regarding patients with dementia, and an independent t-test was conducted to determine the difference between the elderly oral health knowledge of care workers and caregivers. Multiple regression analysis was also carried out to examine factors affecting elderly oral health knowledge. Results: With respect to the factor of oral health education in elderly oral health knowledge, oral health knowledge was shown to be highest when participants responded that education was unnecessary (p<0.001), and regarding the will to participate in oral health education, oral health knowledge was highest when participants responded as having no desire to participate (p<0.05). Conclusions: These results suggest that a standard manual should be developed for the accurate and qualitative management of oral hygiene care tasks performed by care workers and caregivers who are in charge of oral care for patients with dementia in order to provide continuous and systematic oral care.
