  • In this paper, each parameter was identified by the gradient descent method to overcome difficulty deciding fuzzy rules of FLC for the unknown process and the type of membership Junctions. Usually PID or optimal control theories have been mostly usee in control field so far. However, optimal control requires much time for calculation because of adaptation for disturbance and nonlinearity. And intricate technique such as MRAS which can be realized only by an expert are limited to be used in the systems requiring rapid and precise response because of comparatively longer calculating time and complicateness. Gradient descent method is a method to find Z minimizing a function about a certain vector Z. And required output of FLC is gained using gradient approaching method in order to adapt control rule parameters of FLC. Simulation proved validation of this algorithm.

  • This paper describes a method to find an optimal driving condition of vibratory gyroscope. Mechanical coupling between driving and sensing mode degrades the performance of vibratory gyroscope. When the resonant frequencies of driving and sensing parts are fixed, frequency and amplitude of driving source affect mechanical coupling. Thus, they should be optimally tuned. To investigate the influence of driving source on mechanical coupling, we measured frequency response and displacement of driving and sensing mode using laser vibromenter. The measured frequency response and displacement show that the gyroscope has minimum mechanical coupling when the frequency of driving source is set to the intermediate value of driving and sensing part resonant frequency. Measurement also shows that the mechanical coupling increases abruptly at a certain driving voltage as the voltage increases.

Timing-offset compensation techniques in ATSC DTV receivers (지상파 DTV 수신기에서 타이밍 옵셋 보상 기법)

  • ATSC DTV receivers use repetitive data segment syncs or Gardner algorithm as a tuning recovery circuit. Many multipath signals can induce timing-offset in the symbol timing recovery circuit using Gardner algorithm and this timing-offset shifts sampling instant to the wrong points, causing the performance of the equalizer to become nr. When many echoes exist, the optimal sampling instant will be the Point at which the main-path has a peak value. In this paper, by using channel correlation techniques, we find the optimal sampling instant, thereby compensating the timing offset and improving DTV reception performance. We analyzed the Performance enhancement of DTV receivers using the timing offset compensator.

Robust Optimal Nonlinear Control with Observer for Position Tracking of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

  • This paper proposes a robust optimal nonlinear control with an observer to reject the offset errors of position tracking for surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors. We provide the control method to reject offset errors and load torque for designing field oriented control (FOC) based the alternating current (AC) frame. The proposed method consists of a torque generator, a commutation scheme, an electrical controller, and a load torque observer. The mechanical controller is designed to compensate for load torque and the offset error and generate the desired torque. The commutation scheme is proposed to create the desired currents for the desired torque. The electrical controller is developed to guarantee the desired currents. The observer is designed to estimate both the velocity and the load torque. In order to obtain the robustness to parameter uncertainties and a gain tuning guide, the linear quadratic regulator method is applied to the proposed method. The closed-loop stability is proven. A detailed process for the FOC design and an analysis of the control methods based on the AC frame are presented. The performance of the proposed method was validated via experiments. The proposed method obtains the FOC based on the AC frame. Furthermore, the position tracking performance of the proposed method is superior to that of the conventional method.

Spatial Reuse in IEEE 802.11ax: Whether and How to Use in Practice

  • IEEE 802.11ax is a protocol being developed for high-density Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN). Several algorithms have been proposed to improve the level of spatial reuse applied in IEEE 802.11ax. However, these algorithms are tentative and do not specify how to select the transmit power and carrier sense threshold in practice; It is unclear when and why the tuned parameters lead to better network performance. In this paper, we restricted the scale of transmit power tuning to prevent the case of backfire in which spatial reuse will result in transmission failure. If the restrictions cannot be satisfied, spatial reuse will be abandoned. This is why we named the proposed scheme as Arbitration based Spatial Reuse (ASR). We quantified the network performance after spatial reuse, and formulate a corresponding maximum problem whose solution is the optimal carrier sense threshold and transmit power. We verified our theoretical analysis by simulation and compared it with previous studies, and the results show that ASR improves the throughput up to 8.6% compared with 802.11ax. ASR can avoid failure of spatial reuse, while the spatial reuse failure rate of existing schemes can up to 36%. To use the ASR scheme in practice, we investigate the relation between the optimal carrier sense threshold and transmit power. Based on the relations got from ASR, the proposed Relation based Spatial Reuse (RSR) scheme can get a satisfactory performance by using only the interference perceived and the previously found relations.

  • This paper is a study on singing voice synthesis modeling using a generator loss function, which analyzes various factors that may occur when applying BEGAN among deep learning algorithms optimized for image generation to Audio domain. and we conduct experiments to derive optimal quality. In this paper, we focused the problem that the L1 loss proposed in the BEGAN-based models degrades the meaning of hyperparameter the gamma(𝛾) which was defined to control the diversity and quality of generated audio samples. In experiments we show that our proposed method and finding the optimal values through tuning, it can contribute to the improvement of the quality of the singing synthesis product.

  • Inductance characteristics, torque variations and ripple according to current, and position of multi-layer buried magnet synchronous machines with field-weakening operations are presented. The rotor structure optimal design of a buried magnet synchronous machine with high performance is investigated, and optimization results and comparison among design candidates are shown. For the fast and accurate search of multiple optima, the auto-tuning niching genetic algorithm is used and a final solution is selected considering various design factors.

  • In this paper, we develop anti-sway control in proposed techniques for an ATC system. The developed algorithm is to build the optimal path of container motion and to calculate an anti-collision path for collision avoidance in its movement to the finial coordinate. Moreover, in order to show the effectiveness in this research, we compared NNP PID controller to be tuning parameters of controller using NN with 2-DOF PID controller. The experimental results jar an ATC simulator show that the proposed control scheme guarantees performances, trolley position, sway angle, and settling time in NNP PID controller than other controller. As a result, the application of NNP PID controller is analyzed to have robustness about disturbance which is wind of fixed pattern in the yard.

  • An adaptive fuzzy P + ID controller for variable speed operation of BLDC motor drives is presented in this paper. Generally, a conventional PID controller is most widely used in industry due to its simple control structure and ease of design. However, the PID controller suffers from the electrical machine parameter variations and disturbances. To improve the tracking performance for parameter and load variations, the controller proposed in this paper is constructed by using an adaptive fuzzy logic controller in place of the proportional term in a conventional PID controller. For implementing this controller, only one additional parameter has to be adjusted in comparison with the PID controller. An adaptive fuzzy controller applied to proportional term to achieve robustness against parameter variations has simple structure and computational simplicity. The controller based on optimal fuzzy logic controller has an self-tuning characteristics with clustering. Computer simulation results show the usefulness of the proposed controller.

  • This paper presents the use of a simple genetic algorithm for the tuning of a proportional-integral speed controller for an induction motor drive. The influence of population size, generation number and rate of mutation on the convergence of the genetic algorithm is investigated. On Matlab/Simulink environment, this paper proposes an optimal GA-PI controller of indirect vector control for induction motor drive system. The simulation results verify that the system has a more robust to the parameter variation than classical PI controller.
