Determination of Optimal Scan Time for the Measurement of Downstream Metabolites in Hyperpolarized 13C MRSI

  • Purpose: For a single time-point hyperpolarized $^{13}C$ magnetic resonance spectroscopy imaging (MRSI) of animal models, scan-time window after injecting substrates is critical in terms of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of downstream metabolites. Pre-scans of time-resolved magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) can be performed to determine the scan-time window. In this study, based on two-site exchange model, protocol-specific simulation approaches were developed for $^{13}C$ MRSI and the optimal scan-time window was determined to maximize the SNR of downstream metabolites. Materials and Methods: The arterial input function and conversion rate constant from injected substrates (pyruvate) to downstream metabolite (lactate) were precalibrated, based on pre-scans of time-resolved MRS. MRSI was simulated using two-site exchange model with considerations of scan parameters of MRSI. Optimal scan-time window for mapping lactate was chosen from simulated lactate intensity maps. The performance was validated by multiple in vivo experiments of BALB/C nude mice with MDA-MB-231 breast tumor cells. As a comparison, MRSI were performed with other scan-time windows simply chosen from the lactate signal intensities of pre-scan time-resolved MRS. Results: The optimal scan timing for our animal models was determined by simulation, and was found to be 15 s after injection of the pyruvate. Compared to the simple approach, we observed that the lactate peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) was increased by 230%. Conclusion: Optimal scan timing to measure downstream metabolites using hyperpolarized $^{13}C$ MRSI can be determined by the proposed protocol-specific simulation approaches.

지점 및 지역빈도분석에 의한 설계강우량의 추정 (Estimation of Design Rainfall derived by At-site and Regional Frequency Analysis)

  • This study was conducted to derive the regional design rainfall by the regional frequency analysis based on the regionalization of the precipitation. For the estimation of the regional design rain(all, classification of the climatologically and geographically homogeneous regions should be preceded preferentially The optimal regionalization of the precipitation data were classified by the above mentioned conditions for all over the regions except Jeju and Ulleung islands in Korea. Relative root mean square error(RRMSE), relative bias(RBIAS) and relative reduction(RR) in RRMSE for the design rainfall were computed and compared between the regional and at-site frequency analysis. Consequently, optimal design rainfalls following the classified regions and consecutive durations were derived by the regional frequency analysis using GEV distribution which was identified to be more optimal one than the other applied distributions.

토공사를 위한 건설장비 투입 최적 조합 산정 시스템 개발 (Development of Determination System for Optimal Combination of Earthwork Equipments)

  • The primary objective of this study is to develop a determination system for an optimal combination of earthwork equipment that improves the traditional way in convenience, prediction accuracy, and productivity. For this, the following research works are conducted sequentially; 1)literature review, 2)technology development trend analysis, 3)develop a determination system for the optimal combination of earthwork equipment, 4)simulation of a developed system. As a result, core considerations are deducted for the development of a determination system. Furthermore, site simulation is performed using a developed system. Site simulation result, Cluster 1(R1200LC 7㎥, CAT 775G 65ton×2) was selected from 6 clusters because of its production cost (₩491/㎥). It is expected that the application range and impact on the construction industry will be enormous due to the availability of the developed system.

  • Earthmoving equipment's haul-route has a great influence on the productivity of the earth work operation. Haul-route grade is a critical factor in selecting the haul-route. The route that has low grade resistance contributes to increase machine travel speed and production. This study presents a mathematical model called "Hauling-Unit Optimal Routes Selecting system" (HUORS). The system identifies optimal path that maximize the earth-work productivity. It consists of 3 modules, i.e., (1) Module 1 which inputs site characteristic data and computes site location and elevation using GIS(Geographical Information System); (2) Module 2 which calculates haul time; (3) Module 3 which displays an optimum haul-route by considering the haul-route's gradient resistances (i.e., from the departure to the destination) and hauling time. This paper presents the system prototype in detail. A case study is presented to demonstrate the system and verifies the validity of the model.

  • This study performed numerical analysis for obtaining optimal frequency and damping ratio of tuned mass damper (TMD) using 20 seismic loads measured at rock site. The structures of $1{\sim}2$ second natural period were considered, and optimal frequency and damping ratio were estimated for different mass ratio in terms of displacement and absolute acceleration response control. Numerical results showed that the values of the optimal parameters were different those from previous study by Hartog.

  • 대규모 해상풍력단지 개발을 위한 입지 적합성을 효과적으로 확보하기 위해서는 개발로 인한 환경영향을 최소화하고 사회적·생태적·경제적 핵심가치에 대한 편익 상충에 대한 분석이 필수적이다. 또한 해양공간계획상 타 용도구역과 충돌하지 않도록 입지 적정성에 대한 사전검토가 반드시 선행되어야 하며, 추가로 전남 해역 인근의 풍력자원을 포함한 국지적인 기상 특성 분석도 사업타당성 조사 이전에 수행되어야 할 필요가 있다. 이에 영광군 안마도 인근 왕등여에 설치된 기상탑의 관측자료를 활용하여 풍력자원분석을 수행하였고, 해상풍력 단지 입지 관련 지리적 제약조건을 배제한 후 최적 입지구역을 선정하였다. 또한, 국지적 풍력자원 특성에 적합한 풍력단지 최적배치 결과를 WindSim 기반으로 도출하여 연간발전량을 산출하였으며, 향후 해상풍력 프로젝트의 입지발굴 및 적합지 선정에 기초연구자료로 활용하고자 한다.

  • This paper investigates a facility location problem where there are possible demand points with demand occuring probabilites and actual distances between these points and the facility site to be determined are ambiguous, Further we define the fuzzy goal with respect to the maximum value among the actual distances between demand points and the facility. We determine the site of facility maximizing the minimal satisficing degree under the chance constraint. We propose the geometric algorithm to find this optimal site.

  • This study is to investigate the application of concrete with crushed sand on site. As a result, it is showed that the combined sand mixed with sea sand is very desirable for obtaining workability and strength of concrete, and the optimal replacement percentage of crushed sand is 50% with sea sand. After all, the crushed sand could be sufficiently used as a fine aggregate for concrete in the aspect of economical efficiency and quality, but the particle shape and microsand passing No.200 sieve should be firstly improved for increasing workability of concrete on site.

  • Abstract A study on the Derivation of the Unit Hydrograph using Multiple Regression Moe이. The purpose of this study is to deriver an optimal unit hydrograph suing the multiple regression model, particularly when only small amount of data is available. The presence of multicollinearity among the input data can cause serious oscillations in the derivation of the unit hydrograph. In this case, the oscillations in the unit hydrograph ordinate are eliminated by combining the data. The data used in this study are based upon the collection and arrangement of rainfall-runoff data(1977-1989) at the Soyang-river Dam site. When the matrix X is the rainfall series, the condition number and the reciprocal of the minimum eigenvalue of XTX are calculated by the Jacobi an method, and are compared with the oscillation in the unit hydrograph. The optimal unit hydrograph is derived by combining the numerous rainfall-runoff data. The conclusions are as follows; 1)The oscillations in the derived unit hydrograph are reduced by combining the data from each flood event. 2) The reciprocals of the minimum eigen\value of XTX, 1/k and the condition number CN are increased when the oscillations are active in the derived unit hydrograph. 3)The parameter estimates are validated by extending the model to the Soyang river Dam site with elimination of the autocorrelation in the disturbances. Finally, this paper illustrates the application of the multiple regression model to drive an optimal unit hydrograph dealing with the multicollinearity and the autocorrelation which cause some problems.

Adaboost 최적 특징점을 이용한 차량 검출 (Vehicle Detection Using Optimal Features for Adaboost)

  • 본 논문에서는 최적 특징점 선택기법를 적용한 다중 최적 Adaboost 분류기를 기반으로 새로운 차량 검출 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 2 가지 주요 모듈로 구성된다. 첫 번째는 설치된 카메라의 사이트 모델링을 이용한 영상 스케일링을 기반으로 하는 이론적 DDISF(Distance Dependent Image Scaling Factor) 모듈이며, 두 번째는 차량과 카메라의 거리에 대응하는 최적 Haar-like 특징을 활용하는 것이다. 실험 결과 제안하는 알고리즘은 기존의 방법에 비하여 인식 성능이 개선됨을 확인하였다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 96.43% 의 인식률과 약 3.77%의 오검출이 발생하였다. 이러한 성능은 기존의 표준 Adabooost 알고리즘에 비하여 각각 3.69%와 1.28% 의 성능을 개선한 것이다.
