인공신경망 이론을 이용한 단기 홍수량 예측 (Short-term Flood Forecasting Using Artificial Neural Networks)

  • An artificial neural network model was developed to analyze and forecast Short-term river runoff from the Naju watershed, in Korea. Error back propagation neural networks (EBPN) of hourly rainfall and runoff data were found to have a high performance In forecasting runoff. The number of hidden nodes were optimized using total error and Bayesian information criterion. Model forecasts are very accurate (i.e., relative error is less than 3% and $R^2$is greater than 0.99) for calibration and verification data sets. Increasing the time horizon for application data sets, thus mating the model suitable for flood forecasting. decreases the accuracy of the model. The resulting optimal EBPN models for forecasting hourly runoff consists of ten rainfall and four runoff data(ANN0410 model) and ten rainfall and ten runoff data(ANN1010 model). Performances of the ANN0410 and ANN1010 models remain satisfactory up to 6 hours (i.e., $R^2$is greater than 0.92).

  • Floors in a structure are often subject to periodic forces which induce excessive oscillations. For control of such oscillations, TMDs(Tuned Mass Dampers) have been widely used and prooved effective. But it is very difficult to estimate the natural frequency of a TMD when it is installed to a structure. Therefore to achieve the TMD properties that are required for satisfactory performances of the structure, it is necessary to tune the TMDs to the optimal state. This paper is intended to suggest the efficient tuning method for simple and economically designed TMDs and to investigate the validity of the method by installing TMDs to a real structure.

공기 지중간 직접열교환시스템의 연중 열성능 해석 (Analysis on the thermal performances of air-earth direct heat exchanger in one year)

  • This study is focused on the development and selection of the optimal cool tube system to maximize its thermal performance. Cool tube is devised to reduce the heating and cooling load of building by preheating or refreshing of intake air with buried pipes. Finite volume method is adopted to solve the conduction problem between the cool tube and earth. We examine the cool tube system for two operating periods, a short term(12 hours) and a long term(3 months). The results of short term operations reveal that condensation significantly influences and raises the exit air temperature. For long term operations, optimum conditions of cool tube system are obtained with variations of flow-rate, depth, length and diameter of cool tube.

  • A Simulation S/W is developed to evaluate performances of MLS (Microwave Landing System) and IBLS(Integrated Beacon Landing System) in precision auto-landing. For this study classical PID and optimal LQG controllers are developed as well as mathematical models of MLS and IBLS. Ship-landing condition is also considered by assuming sinusoidal movement of the ship in the pitch direction. The simulated aircraft is F-16 in the study of precision auto-landing. For the integrated simulation environment GUI windows are designed for input of parameter values necessary for simulation, such as vehicle performance and environmental data. For validation and verification of models various comparison graphs of simulation outputs are comprised in the GUI design as well as 3D visual simulation of vehicle dynamics.

  • The elliptic filters are optimal in the sense that the magnitude characteristic exhibits the steepest slope at the cutoff frequency. The other characteristics such as delay and step response, however, are rather undesirable. In this paper, the modified elliptic low-pass filter function is proposed. The modified elliptic function possesses progressively diminishing ripples in both passband and stopband, and the lower pole-Q, values when compared to the elliptic counterparts, thus producting the flatter delay characteristics and improved time-domain performances. And it is realizable in the doubley-terminated ladder structures for the order n even or odd, thus lending themselves amaenable to high-quality active RC or switched capacitor filters through the simulation techniques.

  • A hybrid fuzzy controller by means of the genetic algorithms is presented. The control input for the system in the HFC is a convex combination of the FLC's output in transient state and PlD's output in steady state by a fuzzy variable. The HFC combined a PID controller with a fuzzy controller concurrently produces the better output performance than any other controller. A auto-tuning algorithms is presented to automatically improve the performance of hybrid fuzzy controller using genetic algorithms. The algorithms estimates automatical Iy the optimal values of scaling factors, PID parameters and membership function parameters of fuzzy control rules. Especially, in order to auto-tune scaling factors and PID parameters of HFC using GA three kinds of estimation modes are effectively utilized. The HFCs are applied to the second process with time-delay. Computer simulations are conducted at step input and the performances of systems are evaluated and also discussed in ITAE(Integral of the Time multiplied by the Absolute value of Error ) and other ways.

Numerical Study of Passive Control with Slotted Blading in Highly Loaded Compressor Cascade at Low Mach Number

  • With the aim to increase blade loadings and stable operating range in highly loaded compressors, this article has been conducted to explore, through a numerical parametric study, the potential of passive control using slotted bladings in cascade configurations. The objective of this numerical investigation is to analyze the influence of location, width and slope of the slots and therefore identify the optimal configuration. The approach is based on two dimensional cascade geometry, low speed regime, steady state and turbulent RANS model. The results show the efficiency of this passive technique to delay separation and enhance aerodynamic performances of the compressor cascade. A maximum of 28.3% reduction in loss coefficient have been reached, the flow turning is increased with approximately $5^0$ and high loading over a wide range of angle of attack have been obtained for the optimized control parameter.

Very Efficient Maximum-Likelihood and Sub-Optimal Decoders for V-BLAST

  • In this paper, a low-complexity ML decoder based on QR decomposition, called LCMLDec decoder, is proposed for the V-BLAST with 2 transmit antennas. Then, it is combined with other suboptimal interference nulling and cancelling decoders originated form QR decomposition such as sorted QR or MMSE-SQRD decoder to generate efficient decoders that significantly improve the performance of the V-BLAST with more than 2 transmit antennas, at the expense of a small increase in complexity. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the performances and complexities of the proposed decoders.

압축공기 방식 수중발사 시스템의 동특성 시뮬레이션 (Simulations of Dynamic Characteristics of the Underwater Discharge System with Compressed Air)

  • In this paper, simulations of the underwater discharge system with compressed air are performed to predict dynamic characteristics of the system and to find optimal opening trajectories of the expulsion valve. Major components of the system are defined and their governing equations are derived to make up the mathematical model. The compressed air discharge method is affected largely by the discharge depth, and therefore the opening trajectories according to the discharge depth should be found to satisfy the demands of discharge performances. Simulation results are compared with experimental data to confirm the validity of the system model.

  • The regulation performances needs high control gain in novel output feedback controller but high control gain is decreased relative stability of the total system. Thus, this paper proposed neural network controller(NNC) for output feedback controller. In this scheme, output feedback controller are guarantee global stability and NNC are controller steady-state error and defined optimal control law. And we demonstrated this scheme by simulations.
