This paper describes a strategy of a daily optimal operational scheduling on the industrial cogeneration system. The cogeneration system selected to establish the scheduling consists of three units and several auxiliary devices which include three auxiliary boilers, t재 waste boilers and three sludge incinerators. One unit generated electrical and thermal energy using the back pressure turbine. The other two units generate the energy using the extraction condensing turbine. Three auxiliary devices operate to supply energy to the loads with three units. The cogeneration system is able to supply enough the thermal energy to the thermal load, however it can not sufficiently supply the electric energy to the electrical load. Therefore the insufficient electric energy is compensated by buying electrical energy from utility. In this paper, the evolutionary algorithms was applied to establish the optimal scheduling for the cogeneration systems. Also the GUI System was developed using established mathematics medeling and evolutionary algorithms in order that non-experts are able to establish operational scheduling. This results revel that the proposed modeling and strategy can be effectively applied to cogeneration system for paper mill.

Therefore the insufficient electric energy is compensated by buying electrical energy from utility. When the operational scheduling is performed considering the environmental problem. This paper shows the simulation results for daily operational scheduling obtained using the evolutionary algorithm. This results reveal that the proposed modeling and strategy can be effectively applied to cogeneration system for paper mill.
The objective of this study is to solve the operation scheduling problem of plural battery energy storage systems (BESS), and to find useful intonation from its result. Unlike conventional energy storage system, BESS has on hardware characteristics such as high efficiency, fast-acting response and operational loss. Considering rate constraints of thermal unit power as well as hardware characteristics of BESS, the operation scheduling has an intricated problem. In order to solve this optimization problem, we use successive approximations dynamic programming. In two types of operation, the proposed algorithm is applied to test system. one is daily optimal operation, the other weekly optimal operation.
The objectives of this research are to establish the operation scheduling and the preventive maintenance system in order to optimize the operation of mailing center. For the optimal operation scheduling of mailing process, the existing workflow of mailing process and that of required time are investigated prior to simulation modeling. The simulation experiments are conducted to increase the nextday delivery rate. The best alternative whose nextday delivery rate up to 100% is selected based the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method. The optimal work scheduling of all mailing centers are also presented. In addition, the CMMS(Computerized Maintenance Management System) for preventive maintenance is introduced for efficient operation of highly automated facilities of mailing center.
As of July 1999, i,185 lomocotives(excluding metropolitan area electric locomotives) are in Korean National Railroad(KNR). With this limited number of resources assigning locomotives to each trains of timetable is very important in the entire railway management point of view because schedule can be regarded as goods in transportation industry. On a simple rail network, it is rather easier to assign proper locomotives to trains with the experience of operating experts and get optimal assignment solution. However, as the network is getting bigger and complicated, the number of trains and corresponding locomotives will be dramatically increased to rover all the demands required to service all of the trains in timetable. There will be also numerous operational constraints to be considered. Assigning proper locomotives to trains and building optimal cyclic rotations of locomotive routings will result in increasing efficiency of schedule and giving a guarantee of more profit. The purpose of this study is two fold: (1) we consider a planning-level locomotive scheduling problem with the objective of minimizing the wasting cost under various practical constraints and (2) development of implementation prototype program of its assigning result. Not like other countries, i.e. Canada, Sweden, Korean railroad operates on n daily schedule basis. The objective is to find optimal assignment of locomotives of different types to each trains, which minimize the wasting cost. This problem is defined on a planning stage and therefore, does not consider operational constraints such as maintenance and emergency cases. Due to the large scale of the problem size and complexity, we approach with heuristic methods and column generation to find optimal solution. The locomotive scheduling prototype consists of several modules including database, optimization engine and diagram generator. The optimization engine solves MIP model and provides an optimal locomotive schedule using specified optimization algorithms. A cyclic locomotive route diagram can be generated using this optimal schedule through the diagram generator.

The efficiency of transportation requests fulfillment can be increased through extending the problem of vehicle routing and scheduling by the possibility of subcontracting a part of the requests to external carriers. This problem extension transforms the usual vehicle routing and scheduling problems to the more general integrated operational transportation problems. In this contribution, we analyze the motivation, the chances, the realization, and the challenges of the integrated operational planning and report on experiments for extending the plain Vehicle Routing Problem to a corresponding problem combining vehicle routing and request forwarding by means of different sub-contraction types. The extended problem is formalized as a mixed integer linear programming model and solved by a commercial mathematical programming solver. The computational results show tremendous costs savings even for small problem instances by allowing subcontracting. Additionally, the performed experiments for the operational transportation planning are used for an analysis of the decision on the optimal fleet size for own vehicles and regularly hired vehicles.
This paper proposed the optimal operational scheduling of cogeneration system for paper mill connected with several auxiliary devices. Auxiliary devices that include auxiliary boiler, waste boiler and sludge incinerator operate with multi-cogeneration system. Especially environment element was considered in objective function to solve environment problem. Electricity can be purchased through power system from utility. The proposed operational strategy on cogeneration system for paper mill to increase energy efficiency can be applied to the similar cogeneration system in industrial field.

Subway metro scheduling is one of the most important problems impacting passenger convenience today. To operate efficiently, the Seoul metro uses regular, periodic schedules for all lanes, both north and southbound. However, many past studies suggest that non-periodic scheduling would better optimize costs. Since the Seoul metro is continuously facing a deficit, adopting a non-periodic schedule may be necessary. Two objectives are presented; the first, to minimize the average passengers' waiting time, and the second, to minimize total costs, the sum of the passenger waiting time, and the operational costs. In this paper, we use passenger smart card data and a precise estimation of transfer times. To find the optimal time-table, a genetic algorithm is used to find the best solution for both objectives. Using Python 3.5 for the analysis, for the first objective, we are able to reduce the average waiting time, even when there are fewer trains. For the second objective, we are able to save about 4.5 thousand USD with six fewer trains.
