This paper deals with the passenger transfer trips counted from smart bus-card data from Seoul transit network to understand the current operational condition of the system. Objective of this study is to relocate the location of the transit transfer centers. It delivers a bi-level programing model. The upper model is a linear 0-1 binary integer program having the objective of total travel cost minimization constrained by the number of transfer centers and the total construction budget. The lower model is an user equilibrium assignment model determining the passengers' route choice according to the transfer center locations. The proposed bi-level programming model was tested in an example network. The result showed that the proposed was able to find the optimal solution.
Generally, the network topology design problem is characterized as a kind of NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem, which is difficult to solve with the classical method because it has exponentially increasing complexity with the augmented network size. In this paper, we propose the efficient approach with two phase that is comprised of evolutionary computation approach based on Prufer number(PN), which can efficiently represent the spanning tree, and a heuristic method considering 2-connectivity, to solve the highly reliable network topology design problem minimizing the construction cost subject to network reliability: firstly, to find the spanning tree, genetic algorithm that is the most widely known type of evolutionary computation approach, is used; secondly, a heuristic method is employed, in order to search the optimal network topology based on the spanning tree obtained in the first Phase, considering 2-connectivity. Lastly, the performance of our approach is provided from the results of numerical examples.

Concentrically Braced Frames (CBFs) are commonly used in the construction of steel structures because of their ease of implementation, rigidity, low lateral displacement, and cost-effectiveness. However, the principal disadvantage of this kind of braced frame is the inability to provide deformation capacity (ductility) and buckling of bracing elements before yielding. This paper aims to present a novel Composite Buckling Restrained Fuse (CBRF) to be utilized as a bracing segment in concentrically braced frames that allows higher ductility and removes premature buckling. The proposed CBRF with relatively small dimensions is an enhancement on the Reduced Length Buckling Restrained Braces (RL-BRBs), consists of steel core and additional tensile elements embedded in a concrete encasement. Employing tensile elements in this composite fuse with a new configuration enhances the energy dissipation efficiency and removes the tensile strength limitations that exist in bracing elements that contain RL-BRBs. Here, the optimal length of the CBRF is computed by considering the anticipated strain demand and the low-cyclic fatigue life of the core under standard loading protocol. An experimental program is conducted to explore the seismic behavior of the suggested CBRF compare with an RL-BRB specimen under gradually increased cyclic loading. Moreover, Hysteretic responses of the specimens are evaluated to calculate the design parameters such as energy dissipation potential, strength adjustment factors, and equivalent viscous damping. The findings show that the suggested fuse possess a ductile behavior with high energy absorption and sufficient resistance and a reasonably stable hysteresis response under compression and tension.
The main cause of global warming is carbon dioxide generated from the use of fossil fuels, and active research on the reduction of carbon is in progress to slow down the increasing global warming. Wind turbines generate electricity from kinetic energy of wind and are considered as representative for an energy source that helps to reduce carbon emission. Since the kinetic energy of wind is proportional to the cube of the wind speed, the intensity of wind affects wind farm construction validity the most. Therefore, to organize a wind farm, validity analysis should be conducted first through measurement of the wind resources. To facilitate the approval and permission and reduce installation cost, measuring sensors should be installed at locations below the actual wind turbine hub. Wind conditions change in shape with air density, and air density is most affected by the variable sterrain and surface type. So the magnitude of wind speed depends on the ground altitude. If wind conditions are measured at a location below the wind turbine hub, the wind speed has to be extrapolated to the hub height. This correction of wind speed according to height is done with the Deacon equation used in the statistical analysis of previously observed data. In this study, the optimal Deacon equation parameter was obtained through the analysis of the correction of the wind speed error with the Deacon equation based on the characteristics of terrain.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of the slab thickness on the tensioning design and to determine the optimal slab thickness of the post-tensioned concrete pavement (PTCP). The tensile stresses due to the vehicle and environmental loads were obtained using a finite element analysis model and the tensioning stress was calculated employing an allowable flexural strength. The environmental loads of both the constant temperature gradient and the constant temperature difference between top and bottom of the slab were considered. The tensioning designs for various slab thicknesses were performed considering prestressing losses. The comparison results showed that generally as the thickness increased, the number of tendons became larger. Consequently, the design was not economical for a thicker slab thickness. Even though the number of tendons became smaller with an increase in the thickness under the small environmental load, a thicker PTCP slab was not economical because of a higher cost of concrete than that of steel. Therefore, the slab thickness should be kept in minimum within the construction available thicknesses.

Due to the enormous cement content, pozzolanic materials, and the use of different aggregates, sustainable controlled low-strength material (CLSM) has a higher material cost than conventional concrete and sustainable construction issues. However, by selecting appropriate materials and formulations, as well as cement and aggregate content, whitethorn costs can be reduced while having a positive environmental impact. This research explores the desire to optimize plastic properties and 28-day unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of CLSM containing powder content from unprocessed-fly ash (u-FA) and recycled fine aggregate (RFA). The mixtures' input parameters consist of water-to-cementitious material ratio (W/CM), fly ash-to-cementitious materials (FA/CM), and paste volume percentage (PV%), while flowability, bleeding, segregation index, and 28-day UCS were the desired responses. The central composite design (CCD) notion was used to produce twenty CLSM mixes and was experimentally validated using MATLAB by an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). Variance analysis (ANOVA) was used for the determination of statistical models. Results revealed that the plastic properties of CLSM improve with the FA/CM rise when the strength declines for 28 days-with an increase in FA/CM, the diameter of the flowability and bleeding decreased. Meanwhile, the u-FA's rise strengthens the CLSM's segregation resistance and raises its strength over 28 days. Using calcareous powder as a substitute for cement has a detrimental effect on bleeding, and 28-day UCS increases segregation resistance. The response surface method (RSM) can establish high correlations between responses and the constituent materials of sustainable CLSM, and the optimal values of variables can be measured to achieve the desired response properties.

The objective of Value Engineering (VE) is to derive the optimal value at the most efficient life cycle cost, comprising three stages: Pre-Study, Study, and Post-Study. In this study, we propose a method for information collection and analysis during planned site visit surveys in the preparation stage of VE. The 3D spatial model, created using a drone, facilitated observation and analysis of the study area from various angles, both from the center and the outside. Additionally, through the utilization of drones, we conducted on-site investigations of the research area's 3D spatial model, enabling a macroscopic perspective previously only feasible through a microscopic viewpoint during planned site visits in the pre-study phase. Furthermore, the utilization of actual spatial data obtained from observations allowed for real-time information verification during Design VE workshops, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of the VE project.
Pleurotus eryngii(King oyster) is one of the most promising mushrooms produced on the domestic farms. The quality as well as quantity of Eryngii is sensitively affected by micro climate factors such as temperature, relative humidity, $CO_2$ concentration, and light intensity. To safely produce high-quality Eryngii all the year round, it is required that the environmental factors be carefully controlled by well designed structures equipped with various facilities and control systems. At the commercial mushroom cultivation house(A,B), this study was carried out to find out reasonable range of each environmental factor and yield together with economic and safe structures influencing on the optimal productivity of Eryngii. this experiment was conducted for about two-month from Nov. 11, 2002 to Dec. 30, 2002 in Eryngii. cultivation house-A, B. Ambient temperature during the experiment period was not predominantly different from that of a normal year. The capacity of the hot water boiler and the piping systems were not enough. Maximum air temperature difference between the upper and lower growth stage during a heating time zone was about 2~3$^{\circ}C$. The max. and min. relative humidity were ranged approximately 60~100%, and average relative humidity was ranged approximately 80~100%. And $CO_2$concentration increased until maximum 1,600~1,800 ppm with the passing growing period. The illuminance in cultivation house was widely distributed from 20lx to 160 lx in accordance with position, and it was maintained lower than the recommended illuminance range 100~200 lx. The average yield per bottle was about 67~85g. But the optimal productivity will be evaluated by considering the quality and quantity of mushroom production, energy requirements, facility construction and management cost, etc.

We have developed several methods for the optimization problem having large-scale and highly nonlinear system. First, step by step method in optimization process was employed to improve the convergence. In addition, techniques of furnishing good initial guesses for analysis using sensitivity information acquired from optimization iteration, and of manipulating analysis/optimization convergency criterion motivated from simultaneous technique were used. We applied them to flow control problem and verified their efficiency and robustness. However, they are based on quasi-Newton method that approximate the Hessian matrix using exact first derivatives. However solution of the Navier-Stokes equations are very cost, so we want to improve the efficiency of the optimization algorithm as much as possible. Thus we develop a true Newton method that uses exact Hessian matrix. And we apply that to the three-dimensional problem of flow around a sphere. This problem is certainly intractable with existing methods for optimal flow control. However, we can attack such problems with the methods that we developed previously and true Newton method.

When excavating a small cross-section tunnel in a fault fracture zone using the shield TBM method, there is a high possibility of excessive convergence and collapse. Appropriate ground reinforcement is required to minimize construction cost loss and trouble due to a fault fracture zone. In this study, the optimal reinforcement area was suggested and the surrounding ground behavior was investigated through numerical analysis using MIDAS GTS NX (Ver. 280). For the parameters, the width of the fault fracture zone, the existence of fault gouge, and the groundwater level and depth of cover were applied. As a result, when there is not fault gouge, the convergence and ground settlement are satisfied the standard when applying ground reinforcement by up to 0.5D. And, due to the high permeability coefficient, it is judged that it is necessary to apply 0.5D reinforcement. There is a fault gouge, it was possible to secure stability when applying ground reinforcement between the entire fault fracture zone from the top of the tunnel to 0.5D. And, because the groundwater discharge occurred within the standard value due to the fault gouge, reinforcement was unnecessary.
