Study on tension-tension fatigue strength properties of underwater welded joints of SM41A-2 Plate-to-Plate (수중용접한 국산 SM41A-2강판의 편진반복 인장하중하의 피로강도특성에 관한 연구)

  • Nowadays, the high development of industrial technique demands the optimal design of marine structures to be welded under the water, because the underwater welding of the ship hull and marine structures can decrease manpower and cost of production. However there is not available at present any report on fatigue behavior about underwater welded joints. In this paper under tention- tension repeated fatigue stress with frequency of 10 cycles per second by local controlled system, the fatigue strength properties of underwater welded joints of SM41A-2 Plate-to-Plate of 10 mm thickness were experimentally examined. The results obtained were as follows : 1) The fatigue strength of underwater welded joints of SM41A-2 was peaked at the heat input of about 1, 400 joule/mm(180 A, 36 V), while, at the heat input of more than about 1, 100 joule/mm (160 A, 33 V) that of the underwater welds at the higher than cycle of life rather than the lower cycle was higher than that of the base metal but lower than that of the atmosphere welds on account of both cooling and notch effects. 2) The fatigue limit of underwater welds increased with an increase of heat input resulting in a peak of that at the heat input of about 1, 400 joule/mm and then decreased gradually. 3) The fatigue strength at N cycles was peaked between the heat input of about 1, 400 and 1, 700 joule/mm where the strain was rapidly increased. 4) It was confirmed that the optimal zone of heat input condition for obtaining the underwater welds fatigue strength higher than that of the base metal exists, and if out of this zone, the fatigue strength of the underwater welds was lower than that of the base metal because of lack weld penetration, inclusion of slag, voids, etc. 5) By the fatigue test, the underwater welds fractured brittly without visual deformation, so the strain was remarkably less than of the atmosphere welds. 6) The fatigue life factor was peaked at the heat input of about 1, 600 joule/mm (200 A, 36 V) at which the mean strain is a little higher than that of the base metal but quite lower than those of the atmosphere welds, resulting in good underwater welds because both fatigue strength and ductility of the underwater welds are higher than those of the base metal at such heat input.

  • When the disaster like earthquake in urban area occur, due to the collapse accidents for subway, tunnel space with buildings or underground area, enormous property and human damage are happened. Specially, since it is difficult to identify survived status of humans within collapsed debris and accurately buried locations of the humans, inputs of considerable time and manpower for rescuing them are required. Besides, secondary damage can be occurred by additional collapses. The aim of this study is to propose a stochastic location positioning method that enables to provide aid information by determining locations of mobile devices for buried persons in 2-D plane using wireless communication technologies. This study selected a detection method for buried persons based on Wi-Fi signal, and identified characteristics of signal strengths by distance unit. Using these methods, a stochastic location detection model in 2-D plane was built. It is expected that this technology will be utilized as a core technology that can protects safety and human life of the public by providing data for rescuing quickly buried persons in cases of national disasters for future.

Operation Method of Power Supply System for Eco-friendly Movable-weir Based on Natural Energy Sources (자연에너지를 이용한 친환경 가동보용 전원공급시스템의 운용방안)

  • Recently, damage caused by drought is becoming worse and worse due to the global climate change. To overcome these problems, movable-weir to control the water level has been installed instead of a fixed-weir made from concrete. On the other hand, it is difficult to operate an existing moveable-weir because of the high cost of facility management and manpower consumption. In addition, because most moveable-weirs are installed in power systems, the operating cost and the cost of connection for power systems increase when they are located in remote areas. Therefore, this paper proposes an optimal design algorithm and the evaluation algorithm of the SOC (state of charge) of a lithium-ion battery to replace an existing power supply with eco-friendly movable-power with a power supply system using PV modules and lithium-ion batteries. In addition, this study modeled a 50kW power supply system of a movable-weir using PSCAD/EMTDC S/W. The simulation results confirmed that the proposed algorithm has stable operation characteristics in an independent operation mode and interconnection operation mode and that there is the possibility of commercialization with a benefits evaluation of the eco-friendly power supply system of a movable-weir.

A study on the productivity of physicians operating clinic in Kyeongsangnamdo (경상남도(慶尙南道) 개원의(開院醫)의 진료생산성(診療生産性)에 관한 조사연구(調査硏究))

  • Productivity analysis of physician is one of essential factors for the optimal health manpower planning. Among 690 physicians operating clinic and registered on the Kyeongsangnamdo Medical Association, 623 physicians were studied with a structural questionaire from April 1 to May 31, 1990. This study covers the general characteristics and productivity of physicians and attempts to find relevant determinants of their productivity through stepwise multiple regression analysis based on collected data. The mar results were as follows. First, physicians were more prevalent $35{\sim}44$ group (30.2%) in age, male (95.8%) in sex, specialist (76.5%) in specialization,'city (78.0%) in geographical location. Age group of 35-54 and specialist were mere prevalent in cities than in counties, while age group of 25-44 and 55 over and general practitioner in counties (p<0.001). Second, daily outpatients load of all physician were 77.1 persons on average. Age group of $35{\sim}44$ had the most outpatient load (90.3 persons) among all age group, $6{\sim}10$ years group (94.2 persons) in years of duration of practice, 11 hours per day group (83.4 persons) in working hours per day. Specialists had more outpatient load (82.6 persons) than general practitioners (61.1 persons) and physicians in cities had more (80.2 persons) than physicians in counties (66.3 persons). Daily average outpatient load of physicians were significantly different by their age, speciality, number of assistants and years of practice (p<0.001) and working location (p<0.05), but not significantly different by working hours per day of physician (p>0.1). Third, the productivity of physicians operating clinic were significantly affected by the three factors-number of assistants of physician, age of physician and duration of practice at the current clinic. Age of physician had negative regression coefficient.

Multi-threaded Web Crawling Design using Queues (큐를 이용한 다중스레드 방식의 웹 크롤링 설계)

  • Background/Objectives : The purpose of this study is to propose a multi-threaded web crawl using queues that can solve the problem of time delay of single processing method, cost increase of parallel processing method, and waste of manpower by utilizing multiple bots connected by wide area network Design and implement. Methods/Statistical analysis : This study designs and analyzes applications that run on independent systems based on multi-threaded system configuration using queues. Findings : We propose a multi-threaded web crawler design using queues. In addition, the throughput of web documents can be analyzed by dividing by client and thread according to the formula, and the efficiency and the number of optimal clients can be confirmed by checking efficiency of each thread. The proposed system is based on distributed processing. Clients in each independent environment provide fast and reliable web documents using queues and threads. Application/Improvements : There is a need for a system that quickly and efficiently navigates and collects various web sites by applying queues and multiple threads to a general purpose web crawler, rather than a web crawler design that targets a particular site.

Comparison of Three Ergonomic Risk Assessment Methods (OWAS, RULA, and REB A) in Felling and Delimbing Operations (벌도 및 가지제거작업에서 세 가지 인간공학적 위험 평가기법의 비교분석)

  • Musculoskeletal disorders affect workers' safety in most industries, and forest operations are classified as a musculoskeletal burden according to the Occupational Safety and Health Act in South Korea. In particular, felling and delimbing operations are mainly conducted by manpower, and then, it is necessary to evaluate ergonomic risk assessment for safety of felling and delimbing workers. Three ergonomic risk assessment methods, such as Ovako Working posture Analysis System (OWAS), Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA), and Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), are available for assessing exposure to risk factors associated with timber harvesting operations. Here, three ergonomic risk assessment methods were applied to examine ergonomic risk assessments in chainsaw felling and delimbing operations. Additionally, exposure to risk factors in each method was analyzed to propose an optimal working posture in felling and delimbing operations. The risk levels of these operations were evaluated to be highest in the RULA method, followed by the OWAS and REBA methods, and most of the exposed working postures were examined with a low-risk level of two and three without requiring any immediate working posture changes. However, two significant working postures, including the bending posture of the waist and leg in felling operation and standing posture on the fallen trees in delimbing operation, were assessed as the high-risk level and needed immediate working posture changes. Low-risk work levels were examined in the squatting posture for felling operation and the straightened posture of the waist and leg for delimbing operation. Moreover, the slope in felling operation and the tree height in delimbing operation significantly affected risk level assessment of working posture. Therefore, our study supports that felling and delimbing workers must operate with low-risk working postures for safety.

Road Patrol Strategy based on Pothole Occurrence Characteristics considering Rainfall Effects (우천에 따른 포트홀 발생 특성을 고려한 도로순찰 전략)

  • Potholes on the road directly affect drivers' safety, satisfaction, and vehicle damage. Thus, real-time detection and response are required. Increasing frequency of patrols allows for potholes to be detected and responded to quickly, but this takes much manpower, money, and time. In addition, potholes have different occurrence characteristics depending on the rain conditions, so it is necessary to consider the optimal frequency from an economic and road-service perspective. Therefore, a quantitative analysis was done on the effects of rainfall on the occurrence characteristics of potholes. Information on the persistence, impact of rainfall intensity, and weather information was collected over a long period. Based on the results, a risk-based, optimized, and changeable road-patrol strategy is presented. The analysis results show that the probability of pothole occurrence increases by 2.4 times in rainy weather. Furthermore, the impact continues for 3 days even after the rain stops. The probability of pothole occurrence increases by 0.46% per 1 mm of rainfall, and the occurrence characteristics react sensitively to even a small amount of rain of around 1 mm. It was concluded that road patrol is required at least once every three days for an effect-free period, while twice a day is needed for the "sphere of influence" period to achieve a 95% reliability level.ys for effect-free period, while twice a day for sphere of influence period to satisfy 95% reliability level.

Factors of Selecting Temporary Road Positions for the Optimal Path of Earthwork Equipment in Road Constructions (도로공사에서 토공장비 최적 이동을 위한 가설도로 위치선정 요소)

  • Construction industry is facing difficult challenges in terms of productivity, manpower, and industrial accidents. Currently, along with the 4th Industrial Revolution, various high-tech technologies are emerging, and efforts are being made to solve the problem by applying the technologies related to the 4th Industrial Revolution to the construction industry. As part of these efforts, research is being conducted to develop a construction equipment control system to increase productivity and safety at earthworks sites where many and various types of construction equipment are involved, and the system needs a function to increase productivity by optimizing the moving path of construction equipment. In the case of trucks, the location of the temporary road must be optimized in order to optimize the path of movement in the construction site. However, only matters related to the quality standard of temporary roads have been suggested so far, and there is no standardized process for efficiently determining the location of temporary roads. In this paper, the factors and its importance related to the location of the temporary road were identified through field surveys and interviews with experts, and a method for determining the location of the temporary road was presented. It was confirmed that the suggested method through a case study could improve the productivity of earthwork.

Cost Avoidance and Clinical Pharmacist Interventions on Hospitalized Patients in Hematologic malignancies (혈액종양 입원 환자 대상 임상약사의 처방중재활동 및 회피비용 분석)

  • Background: Patients with hematologic cancers have a risk of drug-related problems (DRPs) from medications associated with chemotherapy and supportive care. Although the role of oncology pharmacists has been widely documented in the literature, few studies have reported its impact on cost reduction. This study aimed to describe the activities of oncology pharmacists with respect to hematologic diseases and evaluate the associated cost avoidance. Methods: From January to July 2021, patients admitted to the department of hemato-oncology at Seoul National University, Bundang Hospital were studied. The activities of oncology pharmacists were reported by DRP type following the Pharmaceutical Care Network version 9.1 guidelines, and the acceptance rate was calculated. The avoided cost was estimated based on the cost of the pharmacy intervention, pharmacist manpower, and prescriptions associated with the intervention. Results: Pharmacists intervened in 584 prescriptions from 208 patients during the study period. The most prevalent DRP was "adverse drug event (possibly) occurring" (32.4%), followed by "effect of drug treatment not optimal" (28.6%). "Drug selection" (42.5%) and "dose selection" (30.3%) were the most common causes of DRPs. The acceptance rate of the interventions was 97.1%. The total avoidance cost was KRW 149,468,321; the net profit of the avoidance cost, excluding labor costs, was KRW 121,051,690; and the estimated cost saving was KRW 37,223,748. Conclusion: Oncology pharmacists identified and resolved various types of DRPs from prescriptions for patients with hematologic disease, by reviewing the prescriptions. Their clinical service contributed to enhanced patient safety and the avoidance of associated costs.

Development of Time-Cost Trade-Off Algorithm for JIT System of Prefabricated Girder Bridges (Nodular GIrder) (프리팹 교량 거더 (노듈러 거더)의 적시 시공을 위한 공기-비용 알고리즘 개발)

  • In the case of the construction industry, the relationship between process and cost should be appropriately distributed so that the finished product can be delivered at the minimum fee within the construction period. At that time, it should be considered the size of the bridge, the construction method, the environment and production capacity of the factory, and the transport distance. However, due to various reasons that occur during the construction period, problems such as construction delay, construction cost increase, and quality and reliability degradation occur. Therefore, a systematic and scientific construction technique and process management technology are needed to break away from the conventional method. The prefab(Pre-Fabrication) is a representative OSC (Off-Site Construction) method manufactured in a factory and constructed onsite. This study develops a resource and process plan optimization system for the process management of the Nodular girder, a prefab bridge girder. A simulation algorithm develops to automatically test various variables in the personnel equipment mobilization plan to derive the optimal value. And, the algorithm was applied to the Paju-Pocheon Expressway Construction (Section 3) Dohwa 4 Bridge under construction, and the results compare. Based on construction work standard product calculation, actual input manpower, equipment type, and quantity were applied to the Activity Card, and the amount of work by quantity counting, resource planning, and resource requirements was reflected. In the future, we plan to improve the accuracy of the program by applying forecasting techniques including various field data.
