  • We studied to detect the mass variation using micro mechanical resonator. For measuring the resonance frequency of the micro mechanical system, optical method using laser interference is selected. A simple resonator is prepared by attaching an AFM cantilever on the piezo stack. The piezo stack makes a the cantilever vibrated with its resonance frequency. To change the mass of the resonator, gold was evaporated on the cantilever. We measured how much resonance frequency was changed according to the amount of gold attached on cantilever. This resonator is able to perform the role of a mass sensor and has a resolution of the order of micrograms. The fabrication of the resonator and measurement setup for detecting the mechanical resonance will be introduced in this presentation.

  • Quantum ghost imaging uses quantum mechanically entangled photons to form an image of an object. The quantum ghost image is also obtained by means of classical coincidence measurements with a classically correlated light source[1,2]. In this work we performed classical coincidence imaging experiments with classically correlated beams in their direction of propagation. We observed the ghost interference patterns which were usually made by quantum mechanically entangled states and we also analyze in detail the mechanism of the ghost imaging with classically correlated lights. We made? the classically correlated source with an Ar laser and controlled the direction of the light by a mirror? mounted on a small speaker.

  • Fluorescence imaging is considered as one of the most powerful techniques for monitoring biomolecule activities in living systems. Near-infrared (NIR) light is advantageous for minimum photodamage, deep tissue penetration, and minimum background autofluorescence interference. Herein, we have developed a new NIR fluorescent dye, namely, RB-1, based on the Rhodamine B scaffold. RB-1 exhibits excellent photophysical properties including large absorption extinction coefficients, high fluorescence quantum yields, and high photostability. In particular, RB-1 displays both absorption and emission in the NIR region of the "biological window" (650-900 nm) for imaging in biological samples. RB-1 shows absorption maximum at 614 nm (500-725 nm) and emission maximum at 712 nm (650-825 nm) in ethanol, which is superior to those of traditional rhodamine B in the selected spectral region. Furthermore, applications of RB-1 for fluorescence imaging in living cells and small animals were investigated using confocal fluorescence microscopy and in vivo imaging system with a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR = 10.1).

  • To investigate the effects of V and Sb on the recrystallization of Zr-0.8Sn alloy, the microstructure of heat-treated specimens was observed by optical microscope, SEM, and TEM. Microhardness tests were also carried out for the annealed specimens. From microstructural studies, the V or Sb additions were found to delay recrystallization process as well as grain growth. Especially, Sb was more effective in delaying the recrystallization. This delay of recrystallization and grain growth by V or Sb additions may be due to the interference in the movement of dislocation and crystal interface by V or Sb precipitates.

  • In this paper, a three-dimensional finite element model based on the multi-pixel was constructed to accurately predict electric field distributions including an interference phenomenon between adjacent pixels in the liquid crystal of a complicated TFT-LCD panel. Utilizing the elaborate numerical model, the characteristics of spatial electric field distributions depending on various fault-electrode conditions are thoroughly examined on the basis of the field distribution of a normal electrode condition. The validity of the proposed model is proved by comparing the simulation results with those of the existing optical inspection equipments.

  • This paper describes the electrical characteristics of monolithic optical transceiver circuitry being used in the fiber optic modules. It has been designed and fabricated, and compared with two chips version transceiver when operates at 155.52 Mbps data rates. To avoid noise and interference between transmitter and receiver on one chip, layout techniques such as special placement, power supply separation, guard ring, and protection wall were used in the design. To compare the two kind of fiber optic modules using each chip, single chip version has similar properties to two chip version in the electrical characteristics as noise and others.

  • At the present time when the limits of the magnetic storage systems appear, the holographic data storage (HDS) devices with high data transfer rate and high recording density are emerging as attractive candidates for next-generation optical storage devices. In this paper, to effectively improve the detection performance that is degraded by the two-dimensional inter-symbol interference under the HDS channel environment and the pixel misalignment, an iterative two-dimensional equalization scheme is proposed based on the contraction mapping theorem. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, for various holographic channel environments we measure the BER performance using computer simulation and compare the proposed one with the conventional threshold detection scheme, which verifies the superiority of the proposed scheme.

  • For a multiprocessor System-on-Chip (MPSoC) to achieve high performance via parallelism, we must consider how to partition a given application into different components and map the components onto multiple processors. In this paper, we propose a software pipeline-based partitioning method with cyclic dependent task management and communication optimization. During task partitioning, simultaneously considering computation load balance and communication optimization can cause interference, which leads to performance loss. To address this issue, we formulate their constraints and apply an integer linear programming approach to find an optimal partitioning result - one that requires a trade-off between these two factors. Experimental results on a reconfigurable MPSoC platform demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, with 20% to 40% performance improvements compared to a traditional software pipeline-based partitioning method.

  • In the attitude and orbit control subsystem design, the moment of inertia of the satellite is the major contributor to be considered. Satellites equipped with large solar arrays need to measure the moment of inertia accurately to avoid the interference of the thruster actuation period with its flexible mode. In this paper, the in-orbit tests of COMS to measure the moment of inertia are described. Then, the differences between the measured through in-orbit test and the predicted are compared. Finally, it is verified that the differences are below uncertainty bounds considered in the critical design of COMS attitude and orbit control subsystem.

  • Methylene blue-sensitized photopolymerizable material based on acrylamide is investigated with two-wave energy coupling experiments. Differently from other studies, self-diffraction oscillations are observed and the grating phase is determined without applying external electric fields, moving nonlinear materials, and phase shifting one of two writing beams. The phase grating showed a phase shift of $\pm$50$^{\circ}$ with respect to the intensity grating. Modified Kogelnik's coupled wave equation considering the mixed gratings of phase and absorption gratings and nonzero spatial phase shifts of the gratings with respect to the intensity interference patterns formed during the two-wave energy coupling is discussed in detail to understand these phenomenon.
