This study discusses a non-contact optical technique (electronic speckle pattern interferometry) that is well suited for thermal deformation measurement without any surface preparation and compensating process. Fiber reinforced plastics ($[0]_{16},\;[0/90]_{8S}$) were analyzed by ESPI to determine their thermal expansion coefficients. The thermal expansion coefficient of the transverse direction of a uniaxial composite is evaluated as $48.78{\times}10^{-6}(1/^{\circ}C)$. Also, the thermal expansion coefficient of the cross-ply laminate $[0/90]_{8S}$ is numerically estimated as $3.23{\times}10^{-6}(1/^{\circ}C)$ that is compared with that measured by ESPI.
This paper is dedicated to a research on fluorescent temperature-sensor system, which analyses the characteristic of fluorescent material and observes the relation between temperature and time delay of reflected beam from red light through experiment. From the experiment, We know that the reflected be am from flourescent material has some time delay. The intensity of reflected beam is inversly proportional to the temperature around the material.
N-IR spectroscopy technology is very useful. And, the technology has wide application range. In the range, we know that single beam type silica analyzer has some handicap. So we were studied Splitted beam type silica analyzer. This dissertation have been discuss about system structure, system fundamentals and performance test. At the test, we were study in the spectral interference of NH3. We know that existing system had some problem. It is structural frailties of single beam type. Therefore we were study for Splitted beam type structure. And we obtain a good result. We have $\pm$5% accuracy and 0.5 ppb level measuring range. But, we have a question. It is ppt level measuring technology by the laser beam spectroscopy.

Today, peoples have much interest about safety while an abnormal weather phenomenon is weighted increased. R.C buildings are consisting of main loaded members. Concrete are brittle materials and they are which come to brittle fracture rapidly by progress of cracks. With the exchange of such research in inside and outside of the country, the structure measurement method of having used PZT and the optical fiber (FBG) will be the actual condition which has accomplished the stock. Specially, seismic activity that gives damage to construction and members happens in on time. Therefore, the purpose of this study is the fundamental research which detects damagesof main members using the compound sensor which consisted of the radio sensors of resistance, PZT, and FM system.
KrF excimer laser, which is useful for fabrication of fiber gratings, was irradiated on the PLC-type WDM directional coupler and the transmission wavelength shift was observed as a function of UV exposure time. The effective refractive index change of rectangular silica waveguide was calculated from the wavelength shift measurement and the coupled mode theory. heory.

An ATM-PON (Passive Optical Network) system consists of an OLT (Optical Line Termination), multiple ONUs (Optical Network Units) and the optical fiber which has a PON (Passive Optical Network)configuration with a passive optical splitter. To avoid cell collisions on the upstream transmission, an elaborate procedure called as ranging is needed when a new ONU is installed. The ONU can send upstream cells according to the grant provided by the OLT after the procedure. To prevent collisions being generated by the variation of several factors, OLT must performs continuously the cell phase monitoring. It means that the OLT predicts the expected arrival time, monitors the actual arrival time for all upstream cells and calculates the error between the times. Accordingly, TC (Transmission Convergence) chip in the OLT needs a predictor which predicts the time that the cell will arrive for the current grant. In this paper, we implement the predictor by using shift registers of which the length is equivalent to the equalized round trip delay. As each register consists of 8 bit, OLT can identify which ONU sends what type of cell (ranging cell, user cell, idle cell, and mini-slot). Also, TC chip is designed to calculate the effective bandwidth for all ONUs by using the function of predictor. With the time simulation and the measurement of an implemented optical board, we verify the operation of the predictor.
An optical current sensor device that measures electric current by the principle of the Faraday effect was designed and fabricated. The polarization-rotated reflection interferometer and the quadrature phase interferometer were introduced so as to improve the operational stability. Complex structures containing diverse optical components were integrated in a polymeric optical integrated circuit and manufactured in a small size. This structure allows sensing operation without extra bias feedback control, and reduces the phase change due to environmental temperature changes and vibration. However, the Verdet constant, which determines the Faraday effect, still exhibits an inherent temperature dependence. In this work, we tried to eliminate the residual temperature dependence of the optical current sensor based on polarization-rotated reflection interferometry. By varying the length of the fiber-optic wave plate, which is one of the optical components of the interferometer, we could compensate for the temperature dependence of the Verdet constant. The proposed optical current sensor exhibited measurement errors maintained within 0.2% over a temperature range, from 25℃ to 85℃.
Bubbles are generated by the boiling of the cooling water when an accident occurs in the reactor and then in order to measure the void fraction, the Optical Fiber Probe(OFP) and optical camera are used in thermal hydraulic safety research. However, such an optical method is not suitable for measuring the void fraction in a $17{\times}17$ array of fuel rods due to the geometrical limitations. This study was conducted as a preliminary study using x-ray system and various phantoms before applying to rod bundles. Through radiographic and tomographic experiments, the tube voltage of the x-ray generator was 130 kVp and the tube current was 1 mA. In addition, it is possible to measure the hole of 1mm in size visually through the bubble resolution phantom, and it is confirmed that the contrast is relatively decreased in the inside of the freon in the case of the contrast evaluation using the road phantom. However, we could obtain good image without distortion when reconstructing the image. Bubble generation phantom experiments were used to confirm the flow direction of the bubbles and to acquire tomography images. The image J tool was used to measure the void fraction of 18 % for a single tomography image. This study has carried out previous researches for the measurement of the bubble rate around the nuclear fuel and could be used as a basic research for continuous research.
Purpose: We measured the thicknesses of the ganglion cell and inner plexiform layer (GCIPL), the macula, and the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography in patients with idiopathic macula holes to analyze the repeatability of these measurements and compare them with those of the fellow eye. Methods: We evaluated 85 patients who visited our retinal clinic. The patients were divided into two groups according to their macular hole size: group A had a size of $<400{\mu}m$, while group B had a size of ${\geq}400{\mu}m$. Repeatability was determined by comparing the thicknesses of the GCIPL, macula, and RNFL with those of the normal fellow eye. Results: The average central macular thickness in patients with macular holes was significantly thicker than that in the normal fellow eye ($343.8{\pm}78.6$ vs. $252.6{\pm}62.3{\mu}m$, p < 0.001). The average thickness of the GCIPL in patients with macular holes was significantly thinner than that in the normal fellow eye ($56.1{\pm}23.4$ vs. $77.1{\pm}12.8{\mu}m$, p < 0.001). There was no significant difference in the average RNFL thickness between eyes with macular holes and fellow eyes ($92.4{\pm}10.0$ vs. $95.5{\pm}10.7{\mu}m$, p = 0.070). There were also no significant differences in the thicknesses of the GCIPL and RNFL among the two groups (p = 0.786 and p = 0.516). The intraclass correlation coefficients for the macula and RNFL were 0.994 and 0.974, respectively, in patients with macular holes, while that for the GCIPL was 0.700. Conclusions: Macular contour change with macular hole results in low repeatability and a tendency of thinner measurement regarding GCIPL thickness determined via spectral-domain optical coherence tomography. The impact of changes in the macular shape caused by macular holes should be taken into consideration when measuring the GCIPL thickness in patients with various eye diseases such as glaucoma and in those with neuro-ophthalmic disorders.
A novel photonic crystal fiber (PCF) sensor with three D-shaped holes based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is analyzed in this paper. Three D-shaped holes are filled with the analyte, and the gold film is deposited on the side of three planes. The design of D-shaped holes with outward expansion can effectively solve the uniformity problem of metallized nano-coating, it is beneficial to the filling of the analyte and is convenient for real-time measurement of the analyte. Compared with the hexagonal lattice structure, the triangular arrangement of the clad air holes can significantly reduce the transmission loss of light and improve the sensitivity of the sensor. The influences of the air hole diameter, the distance between D-shaped holes and core, and the counterclockwise rotation angle of D-shaped holes on sensing performance are studied. The simulation results show that the wavelength sensitivity of the designed sensor can be as high as 10100 nm/RIU and the resolution can reach 9.9 × 10-6 RIU.
