  • In this paper, we proposed the method computing the optimal solution of Optical Flow(OF) representing the moving information of moving object and improving the operating speed. In order to do that, we computed the optimal solution of OF using the Combinatorial Hough Transform(CHT) and Voting accumulation and simply searched the moving object compared to conventional method.

  • In computing the optical flow. Horn and Schunck's method which is a representative algorithm is based on differentiation. But it is difficult to estimate the velocity for a large displacement by this algorithm. To cope with this problem multigrid method has been proposed. In this paper, we have proposed a scaled multigrid algorithm which the initial flow for a level is calculated by the summation of the optimally scaled flow and error flow. The optimally scaled flow is the scaled expanded flow of the previous level, which can generate an estimated second image having the least RMS error with respect to the original second image, and the error flow is the flow between the estimated second image (generated by the optimally scaled flow) and the original second image. The flow for this level is then estimated using the original first and second images and the initial flow for that level. From among the various coarsest starting levels of the multigrid algorithm, we select the one that finally gives the best estimated flow. Better results were achieved using our proposed method compared with Horn and Schunck's method and a conventional multigrid algorithm.

  • This paper presents a fire detection algorithm using color and motion models from video sequences. The proposed method detects change in color and motion of overall regions for detecting fire, and thus, it can be implemented in both fixed and pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) cameras. The proposed algorithm consists of three parts. The first part exploits color models of flames and smoke. The candidate regions in the video frames are extracted with the hue-saturation-value (HSV) color model. The second part models the motion information of flames and smoke. Optical flow in the fire candidate region is estimated, and the spatial-temporal distribution of optical flow vectors is analyzed. The final part accumulates the probability of fire in successive video frames, which reduces false-positive errors when fire-like color objects appear. Experimental results from 100 fire videos are shown, where various types of smoke and flames appear in indoor and outdoor environments. According to the experiments and the comparison, the proposed fire detection algorithm works well in various situations, and outperforms the conventional algorithms.

  • This article proposes traffic dispersion with optical transmission technical and development of transmission rate for the safe multicast computer communication in the high bandwidth, Recently multicast traffic such as distance conference or Internet broadcast increases therefore the importance of traffic dispersion and transmission rate is emphasized. Ultimately this article offers the way of carrying out the above suggestion, First this paper points out traffic problems occurred in voice and text centered transmission. Next, transmission rate can be controlled by optical transmission technic to solve above difficulties in the multimedia and Internet. We investigated the feature and output on Add-Drop Mux/Demux and Also presented charges of length accord each stage in interference. We can show, the best data of design as a result of this experiment.

  • We have made an optical device to study the wave optics phenomena, such as image and diffraction pattern, constructive and destructive interference, by direct operation of laser beam and optical lenses. It consists of laser beam, goniometer, objective lens, intermediate lens, projection lens, CCD system, and computing system. As a result of the performance test, we were able to magnify samples up to 44 times with the resolution of about $5{\mu}m$. It is expected to help EM users understanding more easily principles of transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

  • It is important to differentiate between the target tissue (or organ) and the rest of the tissue before incision during surgery. And when it is necessary to preserve the differentiated tissues, the blood vessels connected to the tissue must be preserved together. Various non-invasive medical imaging methods have been developed for this purpose. We aimed to develop a medical imaging system that can simultaneously apply fluorescence imaging using indocyanine green (ICG) and laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) using laser speckle patterns. We designed to collect images directed to the two cameras on a co-axial optical path and to compensate equal optical path length for two optical designs. The light source used for fluorescence and LSCI the same 785 nm wavelength. This system outputs real-time images and is designed to intuitively distinguish target tissues or blood vessels. This system outputs LSCI images up to 37 fps through parallel processing. Fluorescence for ICG and blood flow in animal models were observed throughout the experiment.

  • An ultimate purpose of this study is to develop an automatic brown rice quality inspection system using image processing technique. In this study emphasis was put on developing an algorithm for discriminating the brown rice kernels depending on their external quality with a color image processing system equipped with an adaptor for magnifying the input image and optical fiber for oblique illumination. Primarily , geometrical and optical features of sample images were analyzed with unhulled paddy and various brown rice kernel samples such as sound, cracked, green-transparent , green-opaque, colored, white-opaque and brokens. Secondary, an algorithm for discrimination of the rice kernels in static state was developed on the basis of the geometrical and optical parameters screened by a statistical analysis(STEPWISE and DISCRIM Procedure, SAS ver.6). Brown rice samples could be discriminated by the algorithm developed in this study with an accuracy of 90% to 96% for the sound , cracked, colored, broken and unhulled , about 81% for the green-transparent and the white-opaque and about 75% for the green-opaque, respectively. A total computing time required for classification was about 100 seconds/1000 kernels with the PC 80486-DX2, 66MHz.

  • With the development of semiconductor integration technology, central processing units and storage devices have been miniaturized and performance has been rapidly developed, interconnection network technology is becoming a more important factor in terms of the performance of high performance computing system. In this paper, we analyze the trend of interconnection network technology used in high performance computing. Interconnect technology, which is the most widely used in the Supercomputer Top 500(2017. 06.), is an Infiniband. Recently, Ethernet is the second highest share after InfiniBand due to the emergence of 40/100Gbps Gigabit Ethernet technology. Gigabit Ethernet, where latency performance is lower than InfiniBand, is preferred in cost-effective medium-sized data centers. In addition, top-end HPC systems that demand high performance are devoting themselves from Ethernet and InfiniBand technologies and are attempting to maximize system performance by introducing their own interconnect networks. In the future, high-performance interconnects are expected to utilize silicon-based optical communication technology to exchange data with light.

  • There are many embedded systems which store and play multimedia streams on optical media such as recordable cd and dvd. Some of those are PVRs, DVRs, and camcorders. In this paper we describe the design and implementation of a new, well structured, fully documented, operating system independent and open source optical media API which can be used in various applications and embedded systems. We also design an ISO-9660 compliant optical media layout, an API set and the scenario for real-time recording. To prove the usability, we develop a text application to replace well-known CD-burning software, cdrecord, and a graphic burning application. All the implementations are firstly done on Linux PC environment, and then ported to a commercial embedded system which uses pSOS as an operating system.

  • Vision-based Human computer interaction is an emerging field of science and industry to provide natural way to communicate with human and computer. In that sense, inferring the emotional state of the person based on the facial expression recognition is an important issue. In this paper, we present a novel approach to recognize facial expression from a sequence of input images using emotional specific HMM (Hidden Markov Model) and facial motion tracking based on optical flow. Conventionally, in the HMM which consists of basic emotional states, it is considered natural that transitions between emotions are imposed to pass through neutral state. However, in this work we propose an enhanced transition framework model which consists of transitions between each emotional state without passing through neutral state in addition to a traditional transition model. For the localization of facial features from video sequence we exploit template matching and optical flow. The facial feature displacements traced by the optical flow are used for input parameters to HMM for facial expression recognition. From the experiment, we can prove that the proposed framework can effectively recognize the facial expression in real time.
