The importance of the real-time object recognition and tracking field has been growing steadily due to rapid advancement in the computer vision applications industry. As is well known, the mean-shift algorithm is widely used in robust real-time object tracking systems. Since the mentioned algorithm is easy to implement and efficient in object tracking computation, many say it is suitable to be applied to real-time object tracking systems. However, one of the major drawbacks of this algorithm is that it always converges to a local mode, failing to perform well in a cluttered environment. In this paper, an Optical Flow-based algorithm which fits for real-time recognition of multiple moving objects is proposed. Also in the tests, the newly proposed method contributed to raising the similarity of multiple moving objects, the similarity was as high as 0.96, up 13.4% over that of the mean-shift algorithm. Meanwhile, the level of pixel errors from using the new method keenly decreased by more than 50% over that from applying the mean-shift algorithm. If the data processing speed in the video surveillance systems can be reduced further, owing to improved algorithms for faster moving object recognition and tracking functions, we will be able to expect much more efficient intelligent systems in this industrial arena.
A spatial augmented reality (SAR) system enables a virtual image to be projected onto the surface of a real-world object and the user to intuitively control the image using a tangible interface. However, occlusions frequently occur, such as a sudden change in the lighting environment or the generation of obstacles. We propose a robust object tracker based on a multithreaded system, which can track an object robustly through occlusions. Our multithreaded tracker is divided into two threads: the detection thread detects distinctive features in a frame-to-frame manner, and the tracking thread tracks features periodically using an optical-flow-based tracking method. Consequently, although the speed of the detection thread is considerably slow, we achieve real-time performance owing to the multithreaded configuration. Moreover, the proposed outlier filtering automatically updates a random sample consensus distance threshold for eliminating outliers according to environmental changes. Experimental results show that our approach tracks an object robustly in real-time in an SAR environment where there are frequent occlusions occurring from augmented projection images.
At present. welding of most pipes with large diameter is carried out by the manual process. Automation of the welding process is necessary f3r the sake of consistent weld quality and improvement in productivity. In this study, two vision sensors, based on the optical triangulation, were used to obtain the information for seam tracking and detecting the weld defects. Through utilization of the vision sensors, noises were removed, images and 3D information obtained and positions of the feature points detected. The aforementioned process provided the seam and leg position data, calculated the magnitude of the gap, fillet area and leg length and judged the weld defects by ISO 5817. Noises in the images were removed by using the gradient values of the laser stripe's coordinates and various feature points were detected by using an algorithm based on the iterative polygon approximation method. Since the process time is very important, all the aforementioned processes should be conducted during welding.
It is very important to predict the future position for the heavy vehicle with evasive maneuvering. In this paper, we considered for the manual image tracking system. The vehicle images are received from gyro stabilized mirror system, pass through the optical lens, processed, and displayed on the TV monitor. The operator try to lay the reticle to the center of vehicle image. When the vehicle is moving, the mirror platform (actually the line of sight) should follow the vehicle and the angular rate information is picked up from the mirror stabilized system. This rate signal should be used to predict the future vehicle position. The problem is that the visual system of the human operator is in the closed loop system. The rate signals are disturbed by the operator. In addition, there are some non linearities concerned with the control handle bar and the servo control system. The proposed Kalman filter, combined with some modifications for operator disturbance rejection, improved the predication of the future vehicle position when compared with the conventional passive filter used.

We have designed and implemented an optoelectronic hardware of binary phase extraction joint transform correlator (BPEJTC) which provides higher peak-to-sidelobe ratio than many other versions of JTC that has been published so far and does not produce correlation peaks due to intra-class association, to construct a multi-target tracking system. The digital processing unit controlling the entire system plays the part of modifying and binarizing the joint transform power spectrum (JTPS) and the optical processing unit is mainly used to take fourier transform operations. Some experimental results conducted by designed system along with its architecture showed the processing rate of 6 frames per second, thereby the potential applicability of the proposed system to real-time multitarget tracking system is given.
An active contour model, Snake, was developed as a useful segmenting and tracking tool lot rigid or non-rigid (i.e. deformable) objects by Kass in 1987 In this research, Snake is newly designed to cover this large moving case. Image flow energy is proposed to give Snake the motion information of the target object. By this image flow energy Snake's nodes can move uniformly along the direction of the target motion in spite of the existences of local minima. Furthermore, when the motion is too large to apply image flow energy to tracking, a jump mode is proposed for solving the problem. The vector used to make Snake's nodes jump to the new location can be obtained by processing the image flow. The effectiveness of the proposed Snake is confirmed by some simulations.
This study describes an implementation of object tracking algorithm on FPGA. The global system detect the zone there is more motion in, attending to the generated optical flow, and centers its attention to it to improve the details In this case, To obtain image in Camera, Image aquisition board make use of SAA7113 Video Input processor and algorithm is applied to motion estimation and difference picture. Also, This work can be applied kalman filter to reliability of tracking.

In this paper, we propose a new automatic surveillance tracking system that can extract the target from the complex background and foreground noises by using the image-based SAD algorithm and control the servo motor of cameras by using kanatani algorithm. From the experimental results the proposed stereo tracking system is found to track the target adaptively under the circumstance of complex and changing background noises and the possibility of real-time implementation of the proposed system by using the optical system is also suggested.

An illumination system by using sun light is optimally designed. The developing system consists of main controler for sun tracking, Cds sensor module, and light translation system based on optical fiber. A sun tracking algorithm is designed in such away that the illumination system stand with straight angle to the direction of sun within $\pm$2$^{\circ}$as permissible tolerance. To show the validity of the developed system, several experiments will be illustrated.

This paper reports the high sensitivity actuator for flexible disk. The air stabilized flexible optical disk has very small axial runout. Therefore, It is proper to develop an actuator which has high sensitivity in tracking direction rather than in focusing direction. In order to maximize driving force in radial direction, we present an efficient design of magnetic circuit with simple multi-polarized magnets and auxiliary magnets. Designed magnetic circuit has big force in tracking direction. And we shift 2$^{nd}$ resonance frequency of moving parts Into high frequency band, not causing increase of mass and discord between force and mass centers to secure high sensitivities and sufficient control bandwidth. Finally, experimental results show that designed actuator has superior sensitivity in tracking direction.
