  • In this paper, we study effect of waveness at the optical surface roughness measurement. In generally, waveness components cause errors in calculation of the roughness value of metal surface. We study about surface roughness signals In the frequency domain for separate two signal component of real roughness and waveness by digital signal processing methods. Thereafter, determine low and high Component of frequency spectrum. By this separating frequency value we design liner low and high pass filter which cutoff frequency is 1 Hz. After this process, converted each filtered spectrum by inverse discrete fourier transformation to time domain waveness and real roughness signals We calculate surface roughness value from filtered roughness signals. For evaluate this method, we use five specimens roughness signal which obtained from optical surface roughness measuring system in 3mm/s moving speed with 0.1 mm laser beam spot size As a result, we obtain more linerized roughness value than that of unfiltered roughness signals.

  • The rapid quenching dynamics of the F-center excitation by CN- defects in CsCl crystals were investigated by monitoring the ground state bleach recovery kinetics of F-centers, using a picosecond streak camera absorption spectrometer. The F-centers in CN- doped quenched samples show two bleach recovery components. Optical aggregation converts the slow component to the fast component. The slow one is due to the normal relaxation of the F*-centers as found in CN_ free crystals. The fast one is due to the energy transfer of the F-center electronic excitation to the vibrational energy levels of CN_ molecualr defects. The energy transfer occurs only in the F-center-CN_ defect pairs, FH(CN_)-centers.

  • In this Paper, optical absorption were performed on LB films of binary mixtures of three kinds of merocranine dyes DO, DS, and 6Me-BS, where DS and 6Me-DS form J-like aggregates but not DO in single component films. The observed optical absorption spectra of mixed films were markedly defendent on the combination of dyes. [6Me-DS]$\sub$1-x/[DOl]$\sub$x/ LB films show a sharp red shifted J-like band peak in the whole concentration range. We found the formation of f aggregates in a mixed merocyanine dyes containing a non J-aggregate forming dye DO, in a single component case. Farther investigations on the present and other mixed-dye films will be needed to clarify these points.

  • A new method of obtaining the eigenmode of an anisotropic planar waveguide is studied. The planar waveguide can be composed of an arbitrary number of isotropic or uniaxially anisotropic layers, provided all the optical axes arc lying in the incidence plane. Since the equation of motion for the TE mode is not different from that for the TE mode in an isotropic planar waveguide, only the equation of motion for the TM mode is of any concern. For this kind of device structure, the Maxwell's equations can be solved for one component of the electric field and one component of the magnetic field. The resulting coupled set of equations is linear in the propagation constant and the eigenmode can be easily obtained using canned numerical routines.

  • Photocurable hydrogels are widely used as 3D printing materials in tissue engineering (e.g., scaffold fabrication) as well as optical fibers (or optical sensors) materials. Photocurable hydrogels can control optical and mechanical properties such as chemical or fabrication conditions. In previous research, we introduced a new 3D printing method to fabricate a freestanding overhanging hydrogel structure without supporting structure. This study was measured and analyzed the difference of the mechanical properties of the photocurable hydrogel according to the light intensity using a micro tensile tester. In practically, it was difficult to perform a direct tensile test on a micro (less than 1 mm) size fiber. In this study, the tensile test of the hydrogel fibers could be measured simply and repeatedly using a paper carrier.

  • As the concentration of fine dust has recently increased, numerous related studies are being conducted to address this issue. Aerosol optical depth (AOD) is a vital atmospheric parameter for measuring the optical properties of aerosols in the atmosphere, providing crucial information related to fine dust. In this paper, we apply three dimension reduction methods, nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF), empirical orthogonal functions (EOF) analysis and independent component analysis (ICA), to AOD data to analyze the patterns of fine dust in the East Asia region. Through a comparison of three dimension reduction methods, we observe that some patterns are observed in all three method, while some information are only extracted in a specific method. Additionally, we forecast AOD levels based on three methods, and compare the predictive performance of the three methodologies.

  • The automatic assembly system of micro optical filter is a key technology in the development of optical modules with high functionality. In order to create such automatic assembly system of optical filter, we have developed the system and program capable of evaluation of $30\mum$-thick film optical filter as well as conventional optical filters performances. Moreover, we have carried out the evaluation of optical filter using developed system and program, and we have compared and analyzed them with by conventional hand work. As results, the measured performances based on the present system are more fast, precise and reliable then those of the conventional hand work. In addition to that, the system can apply for various optical collimators and filters.

  • TAC film is an indispensable optical component that protects the polarizing PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) film from being deteriorated and gives high durability, due to its unique features. The newly developed technology of controlling the birefringence of TAC film, together with the coating technology of a discotic material layer, enables excellent viewing angle characteristics and a cost-effective roll-to-roll polarizer manufacturing process.
