  • New Eight-phase Preferred Pairs (EPPs) that have Zero-Correlation Duration (ZCD) of (0.5N+1) chips are constructed for the periods of $N=4{\times}2n$ (n=1,2,3...). By using the chip-shift operation of the EPP, new eight-phase ZCD sequences are constructed in this paper. We certified its ZCD property by various correlation simulations. This new eight-phase spreading sequence can be used for Interference cancelled wireless personal area network(WPAN) based on approximately synchronized code-division-multiple-access(AS-CDMA) system.

  • In karst formation area, the tunnel support system is an important factor for the tunnel safety during operation. This paper presents the simplified tunnel support systems to be adopt in karst formation. For the tunnel planned in the project area, karst features and the expected scenarios in the tunnel area were developed based on the results of the geological and geotechnical assessment. In order to provide specific supporting system and construction details for a wide range of possible karst features, the generalized typical support systems are developed according to the classification of karst features. In addition, the initial support systems and construction sequence for each karst feature are also presented in this paper.

  • A simulation study of a 10-bit two-stage DAC was done by using a conventional current switch cell. The DAC adopts the segmented architecture in order to reduce the circuit complexity and the die area. The 10-bit CMOS DAC was designed in 2 blocks, a unary cell matrix for 6 MSBs and a binary weighted array for 4 LSBs, for fabrication in a 0.35-${\mu}m$ CMOS process. To cancel the accumulation of errors in each current cell, a symmetrical switching sequence is applied in the unary cell matrix for 6 MSBs. To ensure high-speed operation, a decoding circuit with one stage latch and a cascode current source were developed. Simulations show that the maximum power consumption of the 10-bit DAC is 74 mW with a sampling frequency of 100 MHz.

  • New direct and indirect current control methods for a fault-tolerant active power filter topology are presented in this paper. Since a three-phase four-switch topology has a phase bridge current which cannot be directly controlled, a hysteresis control method in the α-β plane which controls the three-phase current in the two-phase stationary coordinate system is proposed. The improved SVPWM algorithm is able to eliminate the operation of the trigonometric functions in the traditional algorithm by rotating the α-β coordinates and alternating the sequence of the output vectors, which in turn simplifies the algorithm and reduces the switching frequency. The selection of the DC-side reference voltage and DC-side capacitor equalization strategy are also discussed. Simulation and experiments demonstrate that the proposed control method is correct and feasible.

  • Resistance-change Random Access Memory (ReRAM), which utilizes electrochemical control of nanoscale quantities of metal in thin films of solid electrolyte, shows great promise as a future solid state memory. The technology utilizes the electrochemical formation and removal of metallic pathways in thin films of solid electrolyte. Key attributes are low voltage and current operation, excellent scalability, and a simple fabrication sequence. In this study, we investigated the nature of thin films formed by photo doping of Ag+ ions into chalcogenide materials for use in solid electrolyte of programmable metallization cell devices. We measured the I-V characteristics by field-effect of the device. The results imply that a Ag-rich phase separates owing to the reaction of Ag with free atoms from chalcogenide materials.

  • Job shop scheduling with m different machines and n different jobs is a NP-hard problem of combinatorial optimization. The purpose of the paper is to develop the heuristic method using tabu search for job shop scheduling to minimize makespan or mean flowtime. To apply tabu search to job shop scheduling problem, in this paper we propose the several move methods that employ insert moves in order to generate the neighbor solutions, and present the efficient rescheduling procedure that yields active schedule for a changed operation sequence by a move of operations. We also discuss the tabu search techniques of diversifying the search of solution space as well as the simple tabu search. By experiments, we find the appropriate tabu list size and tabu attributes, and analyze the proposed tabu search techniques with respect to the quality of solutions and the efforts of computation. The experimental results show that the proposed tabu search techniques using long-term memory function have the ability to search a good solution, and are more efficient in the mean flowtime minimization problem than in the makespan minimization.

  • In this paper, we propose the algorithm of path planning and obstacle avoidance for mobile robot. We call the proposed method Random Access Sequence(RAS) method. In the proposed method, a small region is set first and numbers are assigned to its neighbors, then the path is selected using these numbers. It has an advantage of fast planning and simple operation. This means that new path selection may be possible within short time and that helps a robot to avoid obstacle in any direction. When a robot meets moving obstacles, it avoids obstacles in a random direction. Sonar ranger is useful to get obstacle information and RAS may be a good solution for path planning.

  • In this paper we present a cleaning robot system for an autonomous mobile robot. Our robot performs goal reaching tasks into unknown indoor environments by using sensor fusion. The robot's operation objective is to clean floor or any other applicable surface and to build a map of the surrounding environment for some further purpose such as finding the shortest path available. Using its cleaning robot system for an autonomous mobile robot can move in various modes and perform dexterous tasks. Performance of the cleaning robot system is better than a fixed base redundant robot in avoiding singularity and obstacle. Sensor fusion using the clean robot improves the performance of the robot with redundant freedom in workspace and Map-Building. In this paper, Map-building of the cleaning robot has been studied using sensor fusion. A sequence of this alternating task execution scheme enables the clean robot to execute various tasks efficiently. The proposed algorithm is experimentally verified and discussed with a cleaning robot, KCCR.

  • The conventional and new forging processes of the power steering worm blank are analyzed by the rigid-plastic finite element method. The conventional process contains three stages such as indentation, extrusion and upsetting, which was designed by a forming equipment expert. Process conditions such as reduction in area, semi-die angle and upsetting ratio are considered to prevent internal or geometrical defects. The results of simulation of the conventional forging process are summarized in terms of deformation patterns, load-stroke relationships and die pressures for each forming operation. Based on the simulation results of the current three-stage, the power steering worm blank forging process for improving the conventional process sequence is designed. Die pressures and forming loads of proposed process are within limit value which is proposed by experts and the proposed process is found to be proper for manufacturing the power steering worm blank.
