  • In this paper, we address the TCP-over-WLAN performance problem that occurs during periodic active background scanning with which mobile devices discover available APs in the vicinity. We measure the impact of the scanning period on the TCP throughput and observe a significant performance degradation when the scan operation period is shortened. Our experimental analysis has identified the main cause of the problem, that is, the associated AP continues to send packets to the mobile device even when the device is not able to receive due to the scanning operation.

  • A naval surface-to-air missile is an effective countermeasure against increasing threats of anti-ship missiles. Optimal operation is imperative for high survivability due to limited defense resources of a warship. This paper addresses a problem of optimal engagement to maximize the overall probability of intercept under Shoot-Look-Shoot tactics. The problem is formulated and analyzed with consideration of a realistic single-shoot probability model. The analysis shows that a global solution is achieved for some engagement scenarios. A numerical algorithm to optimize the overall probability of intercept is suggested. An illustrative example is provided to verify our results.

  • In korea, 500MW standard coal fired power plants were designed and operated for the initial base load, so facility stability was prioritized from facility problem to treatment, but now we needed to research for minimizing greehouse gas emissions at the operation of coal fired power plants. research on various facilities and technologies was actively conducted to reduce environment pollutants was drastically reduced, but research and attempts on coping measures in the event of a reduction facility problem were in sufficient. this study considered investigated ways to minimized pollutants by quickly responding to logic development and application of the load runback concept in case of serious problems with environmental pollutant reduction facilities such as NOx reduction selective catalytic reduction facilities, SOx reduction wet flue gas desulpherisation facilities, and TSP(Total Suspended Particles) collection low temperature electric precipitator.

  • As it's important to understand the order of operation in the mixed calculation of natural number and perform it, mathematics curriculums and textbooks focused that students can calculate with understanding the order of operation and its principles. For attaining the implications of teaching about the mixed calculations, this study analyzed the problem solving abilities and error types of 67 elementary students and 57 pre-service teachers using questionnaire which was developed in this study and composed of numeric expressions and word problems. The conclusions drawn from this study were as follows: Students were revealed the correct rates(86.2% and 73.5%) in numeric expressions and word problems, but they were showed the paradigmatic error types-the errors of the order of operation and the composition of numeric expression from word problems. Even though the correct rates of the preservice teachers were extremely high, the result of problem solving processes required that it's needed to be interested in teaching the principles of the order of operation in the mixed calculations. In addition, subjects were revealed the problems about using parentheses and equal sign.

  • As CCTV technology develops, it is used in various fields. Currently, we want to know about CCTV operation in detail. In addition, CCTV in many fields is causing problems in operation. We plan to design a new system to solve the problem. In this paper, we analyze data using K-means so that CCTV can be operated efficiently, add new technology and function to existing system to increase image technology and operate efficiently, Technology. In addition, we will design a new system for CCTV technology using k-means so that the CCTV can be efficiently operated in the center, and propose the problem to solve the problem.

  • Honey Encryption (HE) is a technique to overcome the weakness of a brute-force attack of the existing password-based encryption (PBE). By outputting a plausible plaintext even if the wrong key is entered, it provides message recovery security which an attacker can tolerate even if the attacker tries a brute-force attack against a small entropy secret key. However, application of a cipher that requires encryption padding to the HE present a bigger problem than the conventional PBE method. In this paper, we apply a typical block cipher (AES-128) and a stream cipher (A5 / 1) to verify the problem of padding through the analysis of the sentence frequency and we propose a safe operation method of the HE.

  • In this article, scheduling of a casting sequence is studied in a casting foundry which must deliver products according to the Just-in-time(JIT) production policy of a customer. When a foundry manufactures a variety of casts with an identical alloy simultaneously, it frequently faces the task of production scheduling. An optimal casting schedule should be emphasized in order to maximize the production rate and raw material efficiency under the constraints of limited resources; melting furnaces and operation time for a casting machine. To solve this practical problem-fulfilling the objectives of casting the assigned mixed orders for the highest raw material efficiency in a way specified by the customer's JIT schedule, we implement simple integer programming. A simulation to solve a real production problem in a typical casting plant proves that the proposed method provides a feasible solution with a high accuracy for a complex, multi-variable and multi-constraint optimization problem. Employing this simple methodology, a casting foundry having an automated casting machine can produce a mixed order of casts with a maximum furnace utilization within the due date, and provide them according to their customer's JIT inventory policy.

  • Purpose: Even though the breast is not removed, women with a breast conservative operation(BCO) are suffering from the psychosocial distress comparable with mastectomies. The purpose of this study was to identify how clinical nurses view essential nursing problems and nursing approaches to post operative breast cancer experiences. Method: To identify the clinical nurses's interpretation, they were asked to respond to a case involving a woman struggling with breast cancer. The nurses' responses were analyzed using a manifest content analysis strategy to determine themes in problem identification and nursing care strategies. Result: The clinical nurses recognized that most of the patient's experiences originated from a psycho-social problem. Fifteen nurses(83%) interpreted the breast cancer woman's experience derived from her psychosocial problem. They identified the most effective nursing approaches for breast cancer women following surgery as counseling and providing information. Conclusion: In conclusion, the results revealed that a psychosocial skill including an empathic communication skill is essential for excellent nursing in post operative patient care.

  • This paper deals with the selection method of effective engineering design problem based on LEGO Mindstorm NXT for basic design education. By YouTube case study of various LEGO-based engineering designs for olympic sports, performance criteria have been developed including programming complexity, structural complexity, sensor/actuator complexity and variety of game operation. Programming complexity includes range of programming code length and possible program variety. Structural complexity includes variety of structural elements such as length, shape, weight, and volume to overcome design restrictions. Sensor/actuator complexity includes variety of sensor used and number of possible actuator assemblies. Variety of game operation includes game complexity and required creativity to make LEGO robots. Based on these performance criteria, four representative sports were selected as the candidates for effective engineering design problem. Finally, feasibility and attributes of each candidate were verified by real implementation examples.

  • As observed in the recent war, suppression of enemy air defense operation is one of the major tactics, simultaneously conducted with high payoff target. Specifically, our air defense operation should be properly constructed, since the operating environment of our forces mostly consists with mountainous terrain, which makes detections of the enemy difficult. The effective arrangements of low altitude air defense radars can be suggested as a way of improving the detection capability of our forces. In this paper, we consider the location problem of low altitude air defense radar, and formulate it as an Integer Programming. Specifically, we surveyed the previous researches on facility location problems and applied two particularly relevant models(MCLP, MEXCLP) to our problem. The terrain factor was represented as demand points in the models. We verified the optimal radar locations for operational situations through simulation model which depicts simple battle field. In the simulation model, the performance of optimal radar locations are measured by the enemy detection rate. With a series of experiments, we may conclude that when locating low altitude air defense radars, it is important to consider the detection probability of radar. We expect that this finding may be helpful to make a more effective air defense plan.
