This paper discusses details of modeling and robust control of an AMB (active magnetic bearing) spindle, and part I presents a modeling and validation process of the AMB spindle. There are many components in AMB spindle : electromagnetic actuator, sensor, rotor, power amplifier and digital controller. If each component is carefully modeled and evaluated, the components have tight structured uncertainty bounds and achievable performance of the system increases. However, since some unknown dynamics may exist and the augmented plant could show some discrepancy with the real plant, the validation of the augmented plant is needed through measuring overall frequency responses of the actual plant. In addition, it is necessary to combine several components and identify them with a reduced order model. First, all components of the AMB spindle are carefully modeled and identified based on experimental data, which also render valuable information in quantifying structured uncertainties. Since sensors, power amplifiers and discretization dynamics can be considered as time delay components, such dynamics are combined and identified with a reduced order. Then, frequency responses of the open-loop plant are measured through closed-loop experiments to validate the augmented plant. The whole modeling process gives an accurate nominal model of a low order for the robust control design.
We consider the interval of a gain within which it is guaranteed that a feedback control system is stable. This paper presents the condition under which either a unity feedback control system is stable for a connected gain interval with a proportional compensator cascaded with an open loop forward transfer function. By the connected interval we mean that all the numbers between any two numbers in the connected interval belongs to the connected interval. The condition may be described by a frequency inequality in terms of the denominator and/or numerator of the closed loop transfer function. We also consider the conditions for the discrete-time control systems and the time delay continuous-time control systems. We show that this condition cannot be extended for the transfer function having complex coefficients via a counterexample.

In OFDMA system, even if the number of allocated sub-channel in mobile station varies from one to the whole sub-channel as in base station, while because of mobile station's transmit power is lower than that of base station, therefore full loading range(FLR) constraint occurs where whole sub-channel can be used and the conventional open-loop power control scheme can not be used beyond FLR. We propose a new scheme that limits the maximum sub-channel allocation number and uses power concentration gain(PCG) depending on location of mobile station, which is based on ranging in OFDMA system. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides solutions for optimum utilization of radio resource depending on the location of mobile station and enables open-loop power control beyond FLR without extra hardware complexity.

Pneumatic control systems have the potential to provide high output power to weight and size ratios at a relatively low cost. However, they are mainly employed in open-loop control applications where positioning repeatability is not of great importance. This paper presents precision positioning control of pneumatic servo cylinder with on-off valve, Pneumatic low-friction cylinder with servo valve and DC servo motor under parameter variations. Basically positioning control uses PID controller, where needs a linearized model. A neural network is added to a PID controller to compensator nonlinearity of the system and an influence of friction force is consider as disturbance. The performances of the proposed algorithms were compared by experiments with them of PID controller. From those experiments is was shown that the proposed algorithms are more efficient about settling time, steady 7tate error and overshoot than PID control algorithm.

This paper investigates the motion control of a hydraulic motor-load system using the Simple Adaptive Control (SAC) method. The plant transfer function has been modelled mathematically. The open-loop responses have been obtained experimentally in order to identify the design parameters of transfer function. The hydraulic motor-load system has been modelled using the 3D CAD and imbedded in the hydraulic circuit simulation program to verify the overall performance. The experimental results confirm that the SAC method gives a good tracking performance compared to the PID control.

In this paper, the control system of the MagLev system for a CPS is designed and implemented. The target to be controlled is PEM(permanent and electromagnet) type with 4-comers levitation which is open-loop unstable, highly non-linear and time-varing system. The designed controller is validated by some kinds of experiments.
This paper presents the control X-Y table being the precise movement by point-to-point in the x-y plane. The dual modulus technique is used for our system to control the frequency of pulse supplied to the motors. Such technique is used to stop motor of both axes accurately as the desired target point in the same period. Both motors are stepping motor. To Improve steps per revolution, we employ ministep form to drive motors. In system, personal computer, using parallel port, is used for computing algorithm in open-loop form to control motors. In experiment, our system applies on the X-Y table for drawing to test system performance.

This paper deals with the issue of motion control of a single rod cylinder-load system using simple adaptive control (SAC) method. Prior to controller design, the experiment of open-loop response has been performed. Based on it, design parameters of transfer function are obtained and used for controller design. The effect of parallel feedforward compensator has been investigated by computer simulation, suppressing the oscillatory motion. Through experiments it is conformed that the SAC method gives good tracking performance compared to the PD control method.

The mobile camera module is a device to be inserted in the digital device for camera feature. The mobile camera module is being shaken by vibrations such as handshake during the exposure time. The clarity is compromised by these vibrations, thus the vibration is considered as an external disturbance. Moreover the use of mobile camera module has been being expanded for automotive vibration should be considered. These external disturbances can cause image blurring, thus optical image stabilization should be applied for image compensation. The compensator is fulfilled mechanically by movable lens group or image sensor that adjusts the optical path to the camera movement. Open loop control is useful for well-defined systems like compliant mechanism. Notch filter and lead compensator are designed and applied to improve the stability and bandwidth. The final level of image compensating is confirmed by image processing with MATLAB and CODE V to verify the better performance.
